Valendyr was enjoying the evening air with his trio of fire-lizards. Dagger, Switchblade, and Scimitar all happily flew around him, sometimes chasing one another, other times pausing to land on him for a few steps, before taking off. He had spent the last hour training them, working on visual commands, as well as attempting to show the young Scimitar a few tricks. Valendyr couldn't stand unruly flts, and the entertainer in him enjoyed working with them; he might not have had a troupe to travel with, anymore--but his little flits put on a good show, or so he biasedly liked to believe; if he ever had to go back to making marks at various Holds and Halls, they could at least help in a pinch.
Walking along the beach, the Candidate would have walked right on past had not Switchblade decided to take an interest in the stranger, perched upon the rock. The little blue gave a curious peep, before winging well away from Valendyr, so as to best investigate the strange rock ornament. Cheep? The little blue circled Brenley a few times, curious.
"Stop harassing him, Switch!" Valendyr trotted after, giving a little whistle, and grimacing when the flit didn't obey. The little blue had always been his source of trouble, and tonight it seemed no different. He recognized Brenley as another Candidate, though not one he knew particularly well. That, of course, wasn't unusual for Val, who tended to keep primarily to himself.
While Switchblade was quick to return once Valendyr got close enough, the young man did wonder what the other was doing. Stargazing maybe? "Hope he didn't bother your...." he let his apology trail, gesturing to Brenley instead with a small shrug. "Whatever it is you're doing."
Smerdle This could be the world's shortest RP given Val isn't known to be super social either. LOL

Valendyr looked out over where Brenley gestured, squinting at the dark waters, trying to figure out exactly what it was he was looking at. If he hadn't known any better he would have thought it was just part of the scenery; but the way Brenley spoke of it, had him second-guessing. He couldn't make it out at this hour, though he did try.
"Huh," he mused, trying to remember if he'd ever noticed it before. There were frequent enough islands and small outcroppings of stone all along the beach, but Valendyr honestly didn't ay enough attention to know if something looked off or not. "Any idea what it might be?" He asked, curious whether or not Brenley had any ideas, given he was the one studying.
"Could always send a flit out for a closer look," he suggested, deciding he might as well try to be helpful. He had at least two flits who were trained in retrieval, though Switchblade was a bit more unreliable than Dagger. Even if there was nothing to bring back, fire-lizards did often send pictures of their whereabouts, which might give them a lead. Besides, whatever was out there had to just be some stonescape, right? Couldn't be anything else... could it?
