The Siddall lineage is one of controversy spanning over six generations. Hailing from Germany, Linus Siddall fled to the United Kingdom after a dispute with his two brothers about how to best lead their family. Linus believed the bloodline should be kept pure. His brothers disagreed, one of which stooping so low as to marry a muggle. Departed with a stolen fraction of the family fortune, Linus built the Siddall Estate in Winchester, England. The family has resided in this manor for generations since, eventually seeking involvement with the Death Eaters.

It is said once a generation a child with the tongue of a serpent may be born to the Siddalls. This would be cause for celebration, for this was how the family head would be determined. The Siddalls descended from Linus believed those who conversed with snakes brought honor and good fortune--that was, until Evanora Siddall fought on the side of Dumbledore's Army during the Battle of Hogwarts. It is a well-kept family secret that Anton Siddall murdered his elder sister for her betrayal during the battle, and in doing so, took her place as the next family head.

After the war, Death Eaters were charged. While Anton's parents were sent to Azkaban, Anton was granted mercy as a minor. His mission henceforth would be to restore the sullied Siddall name to its former glory. The family motto was changed and the family fortune was invested towards more favorable causes, though Anton's beliefs never wavered. The Siddalls would simply lie in wait until the next opportunity to pursue their ideal world. The following generation shifted in their favor. Everett Siddall, the only son of Anton and Hazel, did not speak the tongue of snakes. Not only that, he was the first Siddall in Hogwarts to sort outside of Slytherin. Ravenclaw became the new family house. To promote this purity, Anton and Hazel arranged a marriage between Everett and Nari Choi. After some resistance the pair turned out to be a match, marrying and leading the family further astray from their ancestors' cruel beliefs. Under Everett, the Siddalls became known as investors and consultants for businesses and programs in the wizarding community.

Nimbus Siddall was to be the next family head. Not because he spoke to snakes, simply because he was the eldest. It was later unanimously agreed that Aria Siddall would be a better fit for the role, though this was never meant to be. Tragedy struck the Siddall family in 2052 with the deaths of Everett and Aria, leaving Nim in control. After six generations the Siddall Estate was sold to the Winchester Foundation. All profits were donated to Wool's Orphanage and programs for domestic abuse.

xxxPERSONALITYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CLEVER Nimbus may come off as brash, but he can be quite bright. He has a gift for playing and composing music thanks to a knack in pattern and sound recognition. Academically, he’s a quick learner and can be rather studious. While he may have enjoyed learning the subject in class however, he could never really stand homework, viewing it as nothing more than busywork. As an adult, his sharp wit is used for dueling practice and navigating safely through life's many twists and turns.

FOCUSED With age, the elimination of certain environmental factors, and a whole lot of effort, Nimbus’s boiling temper has managed to be kept on a simmer--for the most part. Besides the occasional flare-up he has a stronger handle on his emotions in general. This is thanks to dedication in courses that required such discipline and the support of loved ones that helped him regain a sense of self-worth. Nimbus can at times be surprisingly serious, most often expressing this aspect of his personality with his wandless prowess and the need to maintain high marks in his classes--after all, he'll have to uphold the Siddall name somehow. It’s easy for Nimbus to get so wrapped up in what he’s doing that sometimes he needs someone to pull him out from whatever rabbit hole he’s ventured down.

SOCIABLE Gryffindor house pulled Nimbus out of his shell more than he ever realized. Being surrounded by the loud and proud helped Nim to find his voice, and helped him to open up to others. As it turned out, Nimbus was the type of person that could make a friend wherever he went, and would keep in contact with all of his miscellaneous contacts over the years. He enjoys getting to know new people and seeing other perspectives on life, not to mention having a solid network to keep him in the loop on the latest happenings.

GOOD-NATURED Nimbus would never admit that deep down he was a total softie. Genuinely kind at his core, he hates to see others suffering; and when able, he won’t hesitate to lend a hand to someone in need. To those he’s close to, he wants nothing more than to see them happy and succeeding in their endeavors, and doesn’t mind sacrificing his own happiness and wellbeing for the sake of someone else if he feels it's for the best.

PERSISTENT Once Nim has made a decision on something, he will stand his ground and own up to his choices to the very end. This could be anything from completing a simple project to an all-out grudge match against a former friend. That said, in the case that he places his efforts in the wrong place, he’s not so stubborn that he would let his pride stand in the way of making amends… Once he realizes he's in the wrong, anyway.

COURAGEOUS Over the events of his life, Nimbus has grown intimate with fear. Fear of his life's circumstances, fearing to fail, fearing to die. Despite every reason to be frightened, he's persevered through every challenge with the determination and grit of a warrior and continues to do so. No matter what he faces, he refuses to let his anxieties hold him back. Nimbus Siddall is a firm believer that to be courageous doesn't mean to be fearless. It means to persist and triumph over it.

LIKES
Flowers/Herbology
Writing music
Stealing Wren's hoodies
Fairy lights and candles. He thinks they're pretty and give a warm, cozy, romantic atmosphere.
The startled look of strangers when Francesca pops out of his sleeve or collar.

DISLIKES
Eel--they're slimy and disgusting and he just can't get behind eating them. Leave the water snakes alone.
To be looked down on.
Seeing his loved ones hurting and grieving. Feeling helpless to make it better.
His boyfriend likes putting Nim in cat ears and ribbons. Not even in a sexy way. It's embarrassing.
Just once, it'd be nice to get some affection from Wren without the snark.

STRENGTHS
☂ Musical Prodigy. Able to play by ear and a quick learner.
Courageous
Unshakeable Will

WEAKNESSES
Much too hard on himself, which means he'll sometimes take friends' teasing comments to heart.
Reckless
Gullible at times. Despite everything, he's still too trusting sometimes.
Cute girls. He has a problem telling a cute, pouting face "No." This also applies to small children.
Wren Winchester

DESIRES
To atone for his mistakes. That his family will forgive him for his failures in the afterlife, whatever afterlife there may be.
To live a life his family could have been proud of, while remaining true to his own aspirations.

FEARS
Needles
Putting his trust in the wrong person (again)
Failing to protect his family (again)
Failing to repent for his sister’s death. That her spirit will never forgive him.
Aspen, when she’s especially angry.

xxxBACKSTORYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

EARLY CHILDHOOD Nimbus was born as the only son to Everett and Nari Siddall (née Choi), and heir to the Siddall Estate in Winchester, England. Nim’s family comes from old money, his father currently keeping up their funds and reputation as an investor. It took a lot of work from Everett and his parents to bring the Siddall name to where it is today after it was tarnished by Nimbus’s death eater great-grandparents in the wizarding war. While his grandparents and father shared these views, after the war they kept their opinions to themselves as to not ruin their reputation further. Nimbus, however, never shared in traditional pureblood values, taking after his kinder mother.

Nimbus adored his mum. She was pretty, kind, and so patient with him. She taught him piano and how to garden. She taught him to always help others, going as far as to help the house elves with maintaining the garden and cleaning the estate. They never did let her in the kitchen--she was a dreadful cook herself--but Nim had fun learning bits from the elves here and there.

Magic came naturally to Nimbus at an early age. He had begun piano lessons at three and had taken to it extremely well with a genuine love for the instrument. At four and a half, Nari had noticed Nim’s focus, and how the music sheets seemed to turn on their own, his fingers never straying from the keys.

Nari Siddall had been close friends with Eliana Winchester. As a result, Nim grew up alongside her boy, Wren, and eventually his little sister, Sparrow. There had been an instance when Nim was five that his mother had brought up Nimbus marrying Sparrow, to which he argued absolutely not and he would much rather marry Wren. Nari dropped the subject after that but had eventually told Nim’s sister Aria, who from then on wouldn’t let him forget the embarrassing declaration.

At six, Nimbus stumbled across a snake in their backyard. He followed after to the nearby creek where he lost sight of the creature until a wispy warning caught him from tripping into the water. As it turned out, it was his friend the snake. It could talk! Nim was amazed. He had been so excited to tell his parents about his new animal friend! His parents, however, didn’t take it well. Nimbus didn’t understand. Apparently he was what was called a Parseltongue, but Everett said that he could never tell anyone about it. Talking to snakes was bad, he said. Other wizards would think he wasn’t a good boy. His muggle classmates wouldn’t understand either, just like the rest of his magic. But surely, he could tell Wren, right? He told him about it at recess the following day. He was pretty sure no one else had heard them. Nimbus made Wren pinky promise he would never tell anyone.

Nim lost his mother at eight. It was sudden--his parents were leaving one night for a date, leaving him and Aria with Auntie Eliana for a sleepover with Wren and Sparrow. His father had been the only one to return. Supposedly, there was an incident while they were out with a dark witch. The woman attempted to hold Nari hostage and Everett tried to save her himself. In his recklessness, Nari was killed. Everett had simply told his children that a bad woman had hurt their mother, but the look of guilt in his eyes left Nimbus suspicious.

The following days had been the worst of Nim’s life. Nari’s ceremony had been devastating; the burial worse when Aria didn’t understand and screamed for them to stop burying her. He was at school for only a day before he was to fly to Korea to spend time with his maternal grandparents, using this time to confide in Wren his suspicions about his father’s involvement in his mother’s death. Wren had said he would keep it secret. He didn’t.

There were a few magical students attending Winchester Elementary that Nim knew about, one of which was his friend Suzie McIntyre. When he returned after a week in Korea, he was shocked to hear from Suzie the events that happened in his absence: Wren had told people Nim and his dad killed his mother. That he sicked a snake on her, and his dad was covering it up. The muggle students took it as Nim just trained a pet snake, but Suzie had known better. She tried to defend him, and Wren beat her up. She even had the bruise on her arm to prove it! After their fight, Wren and Sparrow were both pulled from school, and once Everett had been informed of the incident, Nim was grounded for months for letting his secret out like he did. He didn’t see or hear from Wren until the next charity event thrown by the Winchesters, and by then, Wren’s silence was more than enough. Nimbus made it abundantly clear he wanted nothing further to do with the boy.

Life after that was quiet. Nim from then on was an outcast at school, which was perfectly fine with him. He didn’t want any more friends to stab him in the back. He stuck with Suzie, and that was all he really needed. There had been another girl in his class the following years, Moira, who also had an unsavory reputation with their peers. She was creepy, certainly, living in a graveyard and talking of ghosts, joking of being a witch herself. She even snuck her tarantula into school a couple times. Nim found her strange, but her company enjoyable enough. By the time he received his long-awaited Hogwarts acceptance letter, he hoped she would be okay on her own once he was gone.

SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR All Nimbus wanted was to get through the year without incident. Obviously that couldn’t happen. Initially planning to get through the year with as little interaction with his classmates as possible, Nim was surprised to learn that his classmate from primary school had been a witch as well. He joined the quidditch team per his father’s request and became a reserve beater, getting to know some of the other kids in his year. Prefering to keep his music solo, he avoided the Music Club like the plague and occupied the space when no one else was around. It was during one of these instances that he was drawn in by the singing of Professor Hill’s daughter, Aspen. The two got along well enough and he agreed to teach her piano. Of course the year wouldn’t have been complete without having to put up with Wren Winchester. Still upset at his ex-best friend, it was just their luck that they got paired together in Herbology… The two made for a good team, at least, leaving Nimbus confused and having to bicker with him that much more to make up for it.

Over the Summer Nimbus met his dad’s new girlfriend, Sera Meredith Carver. He knew instantly that he didn’t like her. She was stuck up, nosy, and an all-around pain in the neck. Yet Everett didn’t seem to pick up on this, and even Aria seemed to take to her well enough. It didn’t take long for Nim’s questions to wear her down and for Sera to voice her mutual distaste for him. Arguments with his dad became more frequent.

SECOND YEAR started off with yet another surprise--the stray cat that hung around his home stowed away in his bag! Nim dubbed the snowball “Spazz” and resolved to get him home to his real owners once Winter Break arrived. Things only became more frustrating from there: Why did he and Wren have to end up with the same friends? It was official by second year that the two were stuck with each other if either one of them wanted to be around Aspen or Moira, but that didn’t mean Nim was going to be friendly about it.

During the Autumn Nim had a run-in with one of his upperclassmen from Winchester Elementary, a Hufflepuff in The Daily Dragon named Juniper Sparks. She questioned him about his Parselmouth, which only made him more upset at Wren for spilling the beans. Great. Now the whole school was going to read about it on the paper. Luckily, even though June frequently came at him with prying questions, nothing serious ever came of it. Instead, the secret came out protecting Aspen from an adder in the Forbidden Forest. She promised to keep it a secret, though Nim wasn’t sure if he could trust her.

Spazz seemed to get along with another cat in Gryffindor house. His name was Binx, and his owner was a fiery Scot that Nim found too cool to be friends with Wren’s bookworm of a cousin. With Lizzie came a sunshining busybody from Slytherin named Rhea, whose voice he had recognized throughout the last two years of quidditch matches. Nimbus wouldn’t consider himself friends with those two by any means, but occasionally he would find them having a picnic by the gardens and join in for a snack and talk about quidditch.

Over Winter Break, Nimbus discovered how dangerous Sera’s temper could really be, and just what horrible situation his father had gotten himself into. He received his first taste of the Cruciatus Curse, and spent the next several days locked in a pitch black room. When she finally returned for him, Nimbus fought back, and that’s when he found out Sera had a hell of a kick. A visitor at the estate pulled Sera’s attention from him, leaving his fractured rib unhealed by the time he returned to Hogwarts the next morning. Explaining his injuries away after a quidditch mishap with Wren taught him he’d need to become a better liar if he was going to do anything to protect his family.

The rest of the year went on as normal. Come Summer after more research, Nimbus attempted to alert The Ministry to Sera’s crimes with forbidden curses. There was a short investigation into the matter that was ultimately disregarded--as it turned out, Sera was well-liked, and her ministry position made her an unlikely candidate for child abuse. The matter was simply deemed to be an instance of a child adjusting to a new mother figure. Nimbus could hardly believe it. For his defiance, Nimbus became acquainted with the second unforgivable. His short experience with the imperious curse was strange. Nim’s head felt fuzzy. All the anger and resentment he felt was dull. Suddenly, he didn’t find himself disagreeing with anything Sera had to say--it all made perfect sense to him. Maybe the ministry was right? He was adjusting, and things were getting easier. Aria was happy to see everyone playing nice. Maybe Sera’s idea of them being a family wasn’t so bad after all.

Then it hit him. Rather, a snake bit him, and jerked him out of the trance. Her name was Francesca, she said, and Nimbus was trespassing in her creek. When he cursed at her in Parseltongue for injecting him with venom, she noted the snakes in the creek were familiar with the boy that understood their language, and her animosity vanished. The two eventually formed a bond and Francesca agreed to become his familiar--although she wasn’t fond of the name “Noodle” Nim came up with to avoid addressing her in Parseltongue.

Sera didn’t try and put him under the curse a second time when Nimbus revealed he was free from it. Instead, she made perfectly clear how desperate she was: If he spoke out again, she would kill all of them. Nimbus didn’t doubt her word. Instead, he resolved one day he would take Sera Carver out himself. On the bright side Aria would be one less person to worry about, since she’d be coming to Hogwarts with him come September 1st. He agreed to go to Diagon Alley with Yukon, Sparrow, and Wren, and honestly, it wasn’t a half-bad way to end the Summer.

THIRD YEAR Like his dad before him, Nimbus upheld the Siddall family tradition of getting into fights with classmates. He spent quite a bit of his time in detention, where he became close friends with Eion Delacroix. In what was not one of their finest moments, the two decided to pierce eachother's ears with a needle they found laying around. Sure, they got pretty infected, but they turned out pretty good Nim thought. Especially since he'd been shaking like a leaf the whole time.

Adam Lowell was a sixth year from Slytherin house. He was smart, cool, and honestly? A total babe. Nim was pretty sure he was gay by this point, going so far as to confirm Wren's guess during a surprisingly friendly Christmas party encounter, and confirmed once and for all in the Spring when Aspen kissed him in the greenhouse. He thought he didn't regret it until the words "Yeah, I'm gay," came out immediately after kissing her a second time. It was a humiliating encounter for the both of them in which Nim tried to comfort Aspen through her tears, the thunderstorm outside trapping them in and forcing them to work it out. Thankfully once things blew over, their relationship remained strong as ever.

The abuse from Sera continued into the next Summer. One day in July, Nimbus managed to escape and fled to town. He considered going to Madame Ursula's, but realized that would be dangerous considering he ran before Sera could heal his visible injuries. Lost on what to do, Nimbus considered running away when he encountered his childhood bully, Travis Wells, and soon after Wren yet again. Travis had grown friendlier over the years and the three chatted briefly while Nim played it cool. He agreed to come visit Travis's band practice sometime when he parted, and after fumbling for an excuse for his injuries, was dragged back to the Winchester estate to have his injuries tended to by Wren of all people. The evening was confusing and pulled at his heartstrings. Being with Wren was so easy, yet so difficult. Nim wished he could hate him, but he couldn't, no matter how hard he tried. When Wren confessed he didn't hate him either, Nimbus left feeling hope for the first time in a long while. Unfortunately as soon as he crossed the creek back to Siddall land, he was betrayed by Spazz (he turned out to be Sera’s familiar, and his name was Dolos), then was brutally beaten and nearly drowned by Sera. Suspecting Nimbus wasn't keeping his living situation secret enough, Sera threatened Wren and the Winchesters, chilling Nimbus to the core. He would need to do better keeping a distance from that day forward. If anything happened, it would be all his fault.

FOURTH YEAR Nim was weak. Staying away from Wren was nearly impossible, and now they had this feeling of unfinished business between them that they couldn't shake. He did his best to proceed as normal, keeping Wren at arm's length and taking any opportunity to bicker with him rather than pretend they were friends. Towards Winter, the boys came across a litter of kittens. Nim had found the mother and one of the kittens dead shortly before. The two each pretended not to care, only to run into each other again to rescue the kittens shortly after. They snuck the kittens back to the castle where they had fun giving them insulting names and finding students to take them all in.

At the annual Winchester Christmas Party, everything finally came out in the open. Nim told Moira his side of their feud when Wren shot back, telling him he had tried to keep contact and even sent letters. Nim left the party to search for the letters in his Dad's office, where they had been stowed away in a drawer and forgotten about by Everett during Nim's grounding that year. Filled with grief by their petty misunderstandings, Nimbus and Wren finally reconciled after the New Year.

During Winter break and through the rest of fourth year, Nim dated Adam Lowell. Adam often pushed Nim past the limits of what he was comfortable with, and turned out to be incredibly jealous of his friendship with Wren. According to Adam, it seemed like Nimbus had stronger feelings for Wren than he did for him. Nim denied this constantly, though refused to limit his contact. He wasn't willing to lose Wren a second time, now that he had his best friend back. Though Nim didn't voice it, Wren was a constant source of strain between him and Adam. At the beginning of the summer, Adam was drunk and tried to convince Nim to run away with him. He said no, and the two had one of their worst fights. The next day was a festival in Winchester, where Nim was supposed to spend time with his friends. Adam's friend Keith convinced Nim to go talk to him, and once alone, a yet-again-drunk Adam made a pass at Nim and didn't take no for an answer. After a violent struggle, Nimbus managed to get away and broke things off for good. After Wren helped him home that evening, Sera of all people healed his wounds and the two bonded, Sera having had similar experiences with her ex-husband. Nimbus took the opportunity to try and convince Sera to change her ways, but ultimately failed.

FIFTH YEAR As it turned out, Adam was right. Nimbus couldn't deny that he was head over heels for Wren Winchester. That truth hurt like nothing else. After all, Wren was betrothed to Aria. One day they would be brothers-in-law. It was killing him. Why did it have to be Aria?

Nimbus was the worst brother. During one of their bickering matches in an empty classroom, Nimbus kissed Wren. Aria nearly caught them and Nimbus lied about it. He tried to avoid Wren after, but that didn't work out, considering Wren had feelings for Nimbus as well. He should have been over the moon, but how was he supposed to live with stealing his sister's fiance? Not to mention, associating with Nimbus was dangerous for Wren with Sera's looming threat never forgotten. When he finally confessed his betrayal to Aria, he was swiftly smacked for his lies, and then... Forgiven! Aria was never in love with Wren, and if anything, was relieved by the news she could now be with Yukon. Apparently, the two were in love. All's well that ends well.

One night before New Year's, Nim got into a heated argument with Everett. He tried to snap Everett out of his curse, but Everett lashed out and cast a sectumsempra. If Nimbus hadn't taken a step back when he did, his head would have been cut clean off. His throat slit, he nearly bled out. The shock pulled Everett back to reality, and Sera was able to heal him enough that he could recover, though his vocal chords were injured. Once Nim was cleared to survive, Sera was banished from their home. He wouldn't be able to talk for a while, but he finally got his dad back! Though, once he found out Aria had witnessed the whole bloody scene, he had to come clean about everything. Aria was understandably upset, but ultimately the family became closer than ever. Between getting his family back, dating Wren, and having the best friends a guy could ask for, Nim had never been happier.

SIXTH YEAR Nim's time of bliss lasted well into the year... Until hearing in a letter that Sera made her way back to Everett, pulling him under yet again. Nim was prepared to kill Sera once and for all--but then she was pregnant. Dear god, she was pregnant. The implications made him sick. Aria wouldn't let him take care of it. "You can't kill a child!" she argued. The hell he couldn't. Their months at school were spent forming a strategy. Their sister, Varenia, was born in February. When they returned for the Summer, Sera was conveniently often pulled away on business. It was hard to get to her. Aria adored their new sibling, but Nim was disgusted. What would happen to a baby conceived under a curse? Nothing good, he was sure. Once again Nim tried to seek help from the Ministry, this time with Aria at his side. Again their pleas fell on deaf ears.

Aria insisted on trying to reason with Sera one last time. That was their plan, anyway. On the morning of August 3, Sera returned home early, finding Nimbus downstairs on his own. As they conversed, Sera used her legilimency and determined Nim to be a threat to her and Varenia's safety. She went on the attack. Nimbus fought back. Soon enough Everett was dragged into the brawl, stabbing Nimbus twice. Nimbus didn't mean to do it. He was panicked, and the first spell that came to mind was to blow Everett away, ending in a Confringo to his father's skull and breaking his wand. At that moment, drenched in his father's blood, all those years of struggle had been for nothing. Aria and Sera were horrified. Sera tried to escape by blowing out the ceiling ontop of the siblings. Aria threw Nimbus her wand, and Nimbus cast a lightning curse. The spells collided in a large blast. Sera was electrocuted, as was Nim from the recoil. Aria ran for Nim, shielding him as the ceiling came down on them.

Ignoring her injuries, Aria scrambled to save Nim's life, performing compressions until Wren, Yukon, and Moira arrived from next door. She begged Wren to save Nimbus, her own injuries aggravated to a fatal point in her endeavor. When Nim came to in a bed at St. Mungo's later that day, Aria was gone. He didn't even get to say goodbye.

The following weeks were a blur. Nimbus was questioned in front of the Ministry, where he blamed himself for all three deaths. Nim wished they would have put him in Azkaban, but after his scathing words on how the Ministry hadn't lifted a finger in their case, the case was closed and dubbed self-defense. The funeral was held soon after, and Nim's grandparents flew to England as soon as they heard. After a fit of grief and rage that ended in wrecking his mother's piano, Lucy agreed that Nimbus needed to leave the estate. Clearly staying wasn't healthy for him, especially since he kept hallucinating his dead sister in the house. The Siddall Estate was ultimately left in the hands of the Winchesters, and Aella in their care while Nim returned with Wren and Sparrow to Hogwarts for his final year of school.

SEVENTH YEAR Nimbus thought he knew loneliness. It wasn't until Aria was gone that Nimbus truly knew what the word meant, and September through December turned out to be the loneliest of his whole life. With gaping holes in his chest that could never be filled, Nimbus was hollow. It was his fault. Everything was all his fault, and he was sure he wasn't the only one to feel that way.

Wren left him by himself with Yukon and Sparrow on the carriages. He could hardly believe they were drinking. What would Aria think? It didn't really matter, considering he was why she was gone. He couldn't say anything about it. Yukon could barely look him in the eye since the funeral, and Sparrow had been quiet too. Despite her defense of him when family friends placed the blame on his shoulders, he felt deep down she believed it too. She would have been right to. With Wren more focused on his sister and Yukon, Nim kept quiet, putting on a mask and pretending to be fine while spending his time mourning behind closed doors. Some people thought he was heartless, never grieving openly. That was fine. He didn’t care anymore.

Nimbus threw himself into his studies. When his friends weren't forcing him outside, he holed up in his dorm room and buried his nose in the books. After dropping Healing fifth year, Nimbus doubled down in courses to catch up and sit for the NEWT in honor of his sister, who dreamt of being a healer. The intensity of his studying led to more harm than good, which Wren helped him to right later in the year.

Wren... Sort of tried, in his own way. A gentle squeeze of his shoulder or his hand told him Wren was there, he was still with him, but Nimbus couldn't bring himself to burden him further with his troubles. Instead, he lied through his teeth. What a sad excuse for a boyfriend he must have been. He couldn't even manage to tell Wren that he loved him, the words always dying on his lips any time he tried. It wasn't that he didn't--Nimbus loved Wren like a fish loved water--but rather, he didn't want to drag Wren deeper into his mess than he already had, and the thought that Wren might resent him for everything gnawed at him. He deserved better. Which was why, one December evening, Nimbus had finally gathered the courage to break things off. He had it stuck in his head over Winter break he would drop out of Hogwarts, take Aella, and disappear so no one would be burdened by him again. When he tried, he failed. Instead, once again, Wren saved him. The two confessed their love and made an effort to do better.

Over break, Aella said her first word: "Nim." After months of wanting nothing to do with her, Nimbus finally broke down. He held his baby sister and cried, apologizing and promising to do better by her, resolving that he would take full custody of her once he was graduated and capable of doing so.

The final semester was one of healing. Yukon came to Nim for help with his studies, to which Nim gladly agreed to. Their relationship solidified, and even though Yukon would never officially be his brother-in-law, Nim considered them brothers anyway. Moira performed a small pagan ritual on Aria's birthday, providing a sense of solace. There were still bad days. There were still really bad days. Slowly but surely, Nim found those days were coming less and less. Finally NEWTs came. Nim was sure he was ready and was going to do Aria proud with straight O's, but a surprise change in his boggart--Aria, angry and unforgiving, of course--sent him spiraling the rest of the week. He did alright overall, beyond a scathing rant about the ministry in Wizard Law, and by the time he was back at the Winchesters' all he wanted was a solid week of sleep.

POST-GRADUATION Grandma Lucy insisted Nim was long overdue for a family visit, so he and Wren spent a chunk of the summer in Seoul, South Korea, at his grandparents' home. It was the most fun Nim had in the last year. He showed Wren around, trolled him with some botchy translations between he and Grandpa Dae-Jung, and learned some Korean shaman techniques from his grandma. Upon returning Nim finally settled with Aella in their plant-filled flat and took on a job as a herbologist at an apothecary.

Waiting at the tail-end of 2054 was complete and total devastation. Wren and Nim were taking their sweet time getting to Wren's great-grandfather's party when Sparrow apparated into Nim's flat, splinched and panicked. The three made it back as quickly as they could, but by then it was too late and nearly everyone was gone. Having grown up with the Winchesters, it was like losing his family a second time. There was little time to grieve however, Nim focused instead on being there for Wren and his family. Wren, his siblings, and Flick stayed at Nim's flat while he helped in whatever way he could.

Not long after he met with Sera Carver's lawyer, who's called Nim had been pointedly ignoring. To his surprise he was named the executor of Sera's will. She must have listed him before their final showdown, but why him? He was then informed of Sera's first daughter--a little girl in Wool's Orphanage named Annalise Watson. Nimbus wasn't sure what to do with this information, or why Sera had wanted him to know to begin with. If she wanted him to look out for her despite everything that happened, he wasn't sure he could. Or if he even wanted to. Keeping the information to himself for now, he anonymously gifted Annalise with the key to Sera's vault at Gringott's. He knew it wasn't a lot, but it would help her, and Aella had plenty inheritance herself from their father. He knew one day he would have to tell Aella she had another older sibling... Just not yet.

Adapting to their new normal was... Difficult, to say the least. Nim held on the best he could, only faltering when there was a misunderstanding about Wren deciding to go off and adopt Flick without consulting him and making him wonder what his place in their lives even was. After a few hours separated to cool off, the two made up and resolved to communicate better. As long as Wren was willing to hold on, so would he.

After Aspen founded the Magiscouts, she approached Nim to go into business together. Nimbus would be a counselor for the scouts teaching a subject or two, while also running what would be the flower shop of their childhood dreams in the empty storefront beneath the scouts headquarters. Needless to say he quit the apothecary immediately.
