I collect flags!

They're cheaper than model dragons, so I started on flags.

I have:

Union Flag (Usually refered to as the Union Jack, but that's only if it's flying from the Jack Mast of a ship)
England Football Flag (Got it free from my local pub!)
Devon Flag (In case you don't know, it's a county in England)
Pirate Flag (Gyarr!!!)
Royal Standard (God Save the Queen!)
Japan (Yay! Japan!)
Russian Imperial (Love the Double Headed Eagle)
Soviet Union (Peer pressure!)
Gay Pride (I'm not quite there but, what the hey?)

Umm... that's it so far. I live in a shared student house of 11 people. They don't seem to mind that I've hung all these flags around the living room. In fact I started a trend.

Flags around house I don't own:

Australia (I wanted one, but two's excessive)
North Korea (Same guy who made me get the Soviet flag)

Australia is in the corridor, no room in the lounge, the ceiling's too high.

Top Right: Gyarr it be a pirate flag! (A modern one, you didn't get flags with eye patches in the 17th and 18th Centuries) Top Left: Britain, Bottom Right: Devon

North Korea (Of all the flags in the world and he chose that, the other housemates say it's dull in comparison to most of the others)

According to my calendar June 14th is Flag Day.

How does one celebrate that?

It's an American holiday dedicated to the history of the flag, and what it represents.

Basically, the popular way to celebrate is by getting drunk, setting off fireworks, and singing patriotic songs. Just like every other American holiday. rolleyes

New flags! xd

Sealand is just amaaazing! Such a remarkable place. I am fascinated by it so I bought the flag. It is my smallest and most expensive!


This was my birthday present to my housemate. He requested the Tibetan flag. So here it is. Colourful isn't it?


I know a very nice Venezuelan. In his honour I bought the Venezuelan flag. I think it's rather nice.


I just like the design. No real connection to Sri Lanka.


Wales! ^ ^ I like Wales. It's under-rated. My housemate's Welsh and I know Welsh people and I just love that accent! Plus I went on a nice riding holiday there once. So this flag was a must. It's pinned against my Welsh housemate's door. He was delighted!
