Here's some info about global warming:
What's Causing Global Warming?:The burning of fossil fuels like oil and coal cause greenhouse gases to escape into the air and that these gases are causing most of the warming. Another cause is deforestation. Trees soak up carbon dioxide from the air.
What global warming is changing:There are already some changes happening because of global warming. Sea level is rising and animals are losing habitats. It’s already too late to stop global warming completely.
If the warming gets worse, as scientists expect, plants and animals will become extinct, because they can’t move to new homes. There will be more storms and floods. Sea level will rise so much that people have to move away from the coasts. Some areas may become too dry for farming.
What's being done about global warming:Global warming is a very difficult problem to fix. People are having a hard time agreeing on what to do about it. But some people think that the federal government should make laws about it, while other people think it should be up to each person or business to decide what to do.
Many states and businesses in the United States are not waiting until the federal government decides what to do. They have already started working on the problem.
On your last statement, the federal government should have done something a long time ago but they haven't.
So what can we do?
-well you can put solar panels and solar water heaters on your roof to generate clean electricity, if you generate enough you can make money by selling it back to your electricity supplier
-write to your electricity supplier and demand that they start producing electricity through clean measures (such as solar panels and wind farms).
-Convert your car to electric. It will save you money not only in petrol, but in oil changes etc. (Unforetunatly the only electric car you can BUY currently is up market, but there are people around who convert cars from petrol or hybrid to electrics)
-Change all the light bulbs in your house to those efficient longlife bulbs. This will make your electricity bill go down dramatically.
-Write to various politicians asking them to make a change
-The same for businesses.
