becuase in translation, haiku often loses the strict form, i believe the idea is more important. to convey simple and complete images suscinclty and vividly. kerouac writes about what he calls the american haiku, or the haiku of no form. i believe in this.

hold on to poems and pictures; for time is cruel they're all that's left us
i was here to start but then i forgot this thread i return, subdued
it is very late or early perhaps, to you i cannot tell which
most children pray for snow to free them from schooling i pray 'take me back!'
i am thinking in verses now; it makes role play fairly difficult
