For all the boys here who have a girl they want to ask out: do it, and do not have a friend ask her out for you. I absolutely hate it when boys do that. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's best if you want to go out with a girl to ask her yourself.

On the point of guys being too shy to ask a girl out... You really should study their behavior first. If you guys are really good friends, talk on the phone, know each other fairly well, then chances are she's probably already thought of it, and if not she'd probably at least give it a shot. You have to go for what you want or you'll take a backseat watching everyone else live for the rest of your life. And yes, most girls like a guy with enough confidence to let people know what he wants, but not so egotistical and big-headed all the time... There should be a balance. (Or if you'rel ike me, you fall for the shy, quiet boy in the back of the room and never say a word... unless they ask you).
As for guys asking the girl... well for one, it's tradition, which makes a perfect excuse for us shy girls to wait it out. And besides that, I think girls are more insecure when it comes to those things for the most part. Guys (no offense to guys that aren't like this) are a lot more shallow for the most part. I mean, for a girl to like a guy it's usually based more off of personality, and I guess some shallowness factors like weight and such... But most guys don't like girls that don't doll themselves up with makeup, they have to be at least pretty skinny (not saying anorexically so), dress in a certain fashion, tons of guys like blonds and prefer them even, certain size chest, a**, etc etc. So it makes it hard for the girl because on top of the fct that she's she she has to worry about what the guy's into and if he'll laugh in her face and tell all his friends if he rejects her. It's a pretty nerve-wracking thing.
And guys asking girls out/breaking up with them through friends is a completely middle school thing, from my experience. Once you hit high school you don't really have to worry about that any more...

Kallok ((Hello)) Yes....Looks are good...thats what usually gets you started to talk to the person....but I think Personality is KEY I agree. It's nice if she's cute, but if she doesn't have a good personality... sweatdrop

I don't think there's any magic thing that gives you the confidence to talk to girl. I will tell you this we want guys to think we are amazing, but men who idolize me so much that they get nervous around me usually drive me nuts. Women want men. Simple as that. I am sure if you don't let yourself dwell on what you are going to say and just come up to us the conversation will flow naturally. That's how I knew my boyfriend was the one, on our first date we were both nervous, but we opened up and really talked.
*secret* I now know my boyfriend was really nervous when he asked me to dinner, but he made sure to talk politely and calmly to me so I wouldn't know how nervous he was---It worked like a charm!

It all matters I mean if they look good then yeah you will like them but if they act all stupid then it is a problem. And if they are smart but but ugly you will not go form them. So my answer is both it is simple to said for she would both have to look ok and be half way smart.

an execelent point is made here, but allow me to make it noticed........studys have been done on the human mind to proove that though we are evolved far beyond the primitave stage of evolution, we choose are mates the same way it is done in nature. If we feel we can do no better, we will settle with anyone, but given the choice, we would grab the most wanted mate in the tribe. Now, brains have stepped over brwans slightly, in the past years, but looks have left no one. Whether or not you want to admit it, you have to be phisicallhy attracted to someone, in order to make love with them, unless you plan not to do so, then you are just finding a friend...........

The key to any relationship is to have a good personality. If there is nothing in common, then there's nothing to enjoy. Yet, there are always good reasons to enjoy the different things each other likes. I personally look for a good personality in a person. Also someone who compliments me. It looks bad otherwise. Looks can always change, but it's the person who always stays the same.
Respectfully, Konotanumara

Women are... Strong, intelligent and admirable not simply because they hold something that a guy desires. A good woman is willing to set aside trivial desires and so can an honest man. Emotionally speaking neither man nor woman can be considered maturer, unless of course they have experienced much more than the other, and yet it boggles the mind of most of us.. A few quotes to add: that hold a pleasant place in my min and heart. "The perfect woman will tear a man to pieces when she loves him"- Friedrich Nietszche ((19th century Philosopher) "There is no such thing as a relationship, there's a man, a woman and a room, that's it!"- Dylan Moran (Comedian)
On part this is more of a personal utterance of my experiences, but the girls I find happiness with are those that can dismiss gender role and can hold unretained conviction. A girl may wish to be desired, but may I ask just this.. What does she truly wish to be desired for? It may juswt be me, but the only female desirable in my eyes is the one who fights her corner and knows, feels and is capable in taking one person as her partner, that will fight with him or for him. As he must always be for her. No if's or buts, and never feeling doubt or distrust, never a dishonesty and a healthy capacity to enjoy both thought, emotion and spirituality together. Really havn't descovered her in totality, but i have patience to find her someday.
