I just watched a movie with some friends of mine called "28 Days Later". It's a zombie-like horror movie. After we watched it everyone thought that it was kind of disturbing and didn't like it very much.
I really liked it and wasn't phased by the violence at all, and even called it the happiest zombie movie ever.
I've started to piece together that I am horribly desensitized eek ! Something horrible can happen and I act suprised/sad/whatever but I really don't feel anything! I'm like a Vulcan!!
Anyone else feel like that ever?
P.S. Live long and prosper

Simply growing up in a world like today (especially if you're from America), it is incredibly easy to become desensitized to violence and gore and various other things that our parents and grandparents would have fainted at in their day.
Still, I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing, as long as parents take it upon themselves to fully inform their children about the significance of what they see on television or in movies. Heck, a hundred years ago it was unheard of for a woman to show any skin past her hands and face, and fifty years ago people were living in a fantasy world of cars and suburbia. At the rate we're going, I'm not sure if I'll be surprised at anything within the next century.

Well not when it comes to zombie movies but yeah. I tend to say the wrong things to the wrong people and I guess that's just because I'm used to stuff like that, people freak out over stuff I say when I don't take offense at it all.

When someone cries do you scoff? Do you get angry one someone hurts you or those you love? If you can answer yes to at least two of these questions you should be okay. If not, ask yourself a series of them and figure out where you need to improve.

I'm with The Stupidest Angel. I have a horrible time with putting my foot in my mouth, so there's always somebody who's mad at me but I'm unaware of of it. Also, I've gotten to the point where almost nothing can be said to offend me, just because I get asked so many stupid questions every day.

honestly, i think at times, it is just the opposite. the media is so over sensitized that they have to resort to the use of violence for lack of options. we are at a point where societal norms and religious beliefs inpact what we see and hear.if, as a country, we were open to more, then maybe we would have tv that was more creative and original.

Few things deeply shock, surprise, horrify, or fulfil me.
But I can still be disgusted, amazed, scared, or made happy by things that don't.
How much do you want to experience the wonder of the infinite universe? How much do you want to avoid the sickening defecation of a world that no longer believes in itself?
How much do you wish that others can know happiness, confidence, and safety as you do? How much do you wish that others would stop pestering you with their pointless ramblings, disagreeable attitudes, and empty boasting?
Perspective makes all the difference in the world. I've been to both extremes and I like it better here, on the side of wonder and fulfilment. I hope I can stay here.

That's a very interesting perspective. 3nodding
It may be that too many people are afraid to make waves because even a small ripple can mean the end of their careers, and sometimes their lives.
I've heard that if and when shows from Japanese television are brought over to North America for public broadcast, their age ratings tend to get bumped up a few years. I wonder if that's because some of us think we're better judges of appropriateness than they are, or because nobody gets fired for erring on the side of too cautious?
It's interesting how festivals that showcase productions from amateur, independent film makers tend to feature a lot more stories about such touchy subjects as sexual and gender deviation, torture, and spirituality that doesn't fall within mainstream religious beliefs.

I used to love horror/thrillers, but when I started working with kids full time I ended up watching more kids movies (to pick out movies to let the kids at work watch). Now when I see a scary movie I feel like it has more effect on how I feel.
(I also stopped watching TV in 2001 and didn't start again until I graduated college in 2004. I think just skipping out on the evening news helped me)
