Why should guys be expected to pay for everything?
Prom related, why should the guy pay for your junk, he has his own to pay for.
Movies, dates, etc related, take turns? Sometimes my boyfriend pays for stuff, sometimes I pay for stuff, and maybe it doesn't come out totally equally but we both treat each other from time to time, and it seems to be going just fine. o.o''

Girls should pay sometimes too. But apparently my boyfriend doesn't think so. He hates when I want to pay for something. But whatever, I buy him stuff regardless.

i belive that you should split costs, but of course, there is the obvios exception...if you ask them out, you pay! you cant invite someone to the fancyest place in town, and then "forget your wallet"... sweatdrop

I don't see any problem is one party (guy or girl) wants to pay for everything, but I don't think it's fair to EXPECT them to pay for everything. You should always be prepared to take care of yourself.
I agree with the equal rights thing. If you really want to be treated equally, you have to at least be prepared to pay for your share. If the guy decides he wants to pay, that's for him, but you shouldn't rely on it.

What about gay couples >< lol
I think girls should pay for them sleves, if the guy ofeers to pay, let him. If he doesnt, suck it up and pay for it yourself..But honestly...when i get to my prom i am probably going with friends, or with a girl =)

okay here is my list
Prom
Girl Pays for:
1. Dress 2. Shoes 3. Jewelry 4.make-up 5. Nails 6. and getting their hair done
Guys Pay for:
1: The Tickets 2. The Dinner 3. their tux 4. The Limo if they want to ride in one.
Dresses cost a lot more than tuxs if you get something nice and formal. This is coming from someone who went to 3 our of her 4 high school proms.

I am....
The unfortunate matter is that most people seem to think that females can't ask others out. So the dating would always be paid for by some people's logic.
... the definition of genius.

Ms._Fashion_Victim_2006 I just wanted to start a discussion on the topic of guys paying for everything. Since prom in coming up my friends have been discussing whether they are going or not and most of my friends who are girls said they aren't going because either nobody asked them or the guy wouldn't pay. I was talking to other friends (guys) and they were all talking about how they had to pay for everything (in prom). So I wanted to know what you thought of the whole guys paying thing. Should they have to pay or should girls fork up some of the cash?[/quote they should probably pay things like the limo, but not the dress and shoes or tickets, thats wayy too much.

Things must be different here in Australia. Every single girl going to the equivalent of our "Prom" bought their own dress. The guys hired their own suits. We got pinholes and corsages for each other. That was that. We did buy the tickets for our dates, but that worked both ways.
But yeah...Guys paying is the chivalrous thing to do (Is that even the right word) But there is a fine line between chivalry and being a doormat 3nodding
