Earth is not much then a wasted ball of dirt i mean if we would have taken better care it probeblly would not be so bad here but pollution and all makes this planet a waste of space, i mean every scientist or wut ever is wanting 2 leave so bad and go to another planet in the next 500 Billion years why go its not going 2 do any good, were just going 2 do the same thing again, so why leave earth????

it's not a waste.. not yet. we are well on our way down the road to it becoming a waste, but we still have time to turn it around. and we're not going to find another planet once we destroy this one. our knowledge and technology just isnt that far advanced yet since the best we could do is get a mechanical robot probe to mars.. which isnt even life sustanable. as it stands, they say we have perhaps to the middle of this century to turn things around, and if that's right, then looking ahead even 1000 years to be on another planet is futile at this point.

no one knows when the world will end except the big man but we might drive humanity into the ground and destroy us or a civilization or two but doubtfully earth unless we do it from nukes because we got enough to destroy the earth 36 times over
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2007 6:28 am

even if the earth gets destroyed thru nuclear means, the planet itself will survive, and nature will rebuild itself tho it may take eons. and even if all mankind became extinct, other life would go on. the world doesnt need us. in fact, from the perspective of all wildlife, it would be better off without us.

I agree. The world may shake us off like a bad case of fleas, but it would heal itself in time. Granted on day the earth will be destroyed but it won't e humans that do it, it'll get sucked into the sun or something.

my only problem with that statement is that we have enough nukes to destroy the ENTIRE planet 36 times over so we could assimilate the entire planet in theory if 2% of the nukes go off they all go

I think the end of Earth itself, not humans, will be a universal thing. Since mars is very much like the Earth, and WAS just like Earth, then we have the same fate- The magnetic field (I forget the real name) surrounding our planet (that protects us from solar winds) will indeed get smaller. (Jupiter has the biggest, so this will take longest for Jupiter.) Until it completely shrinks, and is gone, himans decide the basic fate for humans. We will probably screw everything up, and suffocate, because of how much carbon dioxide there is, and only a small percentage of humans will adapt. OR, it will be just like a long time ago, when 96% of humans died out. A huge volcano (there are a lot around the world- in the U.S., there are i think two- one near newyork, one under Yellowstone National Park)- will go off. It will destroy everything in about 100 miles around it. Dust and debris will pollute the air, suffocating us, or blocking out the sun. It will move, and get bigger. The eruption will also cause massive earthquakes, resulting in the eruption of other major underground volcanoes. One eruption will be 100X greater than MT. Vescuvious. Only a small percentage will survive, and it will take a while for people to find each other. After the panic, people will start breeding, not for pleasure or anything, but to repopulate the Earth. But back to the magnetic feild theory- When it shrinks, entirely, it will dissapear. The Earth will be hit with solar wind. AND, once the magnetic feild is gone, the atmosphere is gone. That will kill most life. Then, the solar wind will be just like a very strong wind here- ripping up everything. The Earth will be just like mars. Unless a commet hits it first, causing the volcano thing. As you can see, I put a lot of thought into this. xd

wasted ball of dirt?!? This wasted ball of dirt has bine hauling your sorry a** since you were around! Ever think the earth thinks your a wasted ball of flesh? She's thinking "oh my such a terrible child I've braught. Another one who's calling me names not showing respect towards his beautifull text language and the marvels around him..*sigh* mabye next generation" lol lol joking joking your probebly an alright person who atleast deserves to have 2 children in the near future.

The earth is in alright shape. It can take a few more blows without going over bored and even then we'll get nice tans and own ocean front property am I right? LOL, but seriosly we've bine around for 10,000 years and we have god like powers I think we've used the earth wisely. Hell in 100 or so more years my great great grand children or hell with medicare in the near future mabye even my clone will be living on mars or venus because humans getting so powerfull have terraformed any planets with water or ice into mervelous new earths.

Just wait until the polarities reverse again.

Then we'll all be saved.

i don't think the earth is a dirt ball of waste...if we did this distruction to it then we can reverse it...giving up wont get anyone anywhere we all have to do our part in bringing it back...u would be amazed how easy it is to save energy an cut down on pollution but because of peoples lazy attitude the earth is suffering. some people need a kick up the a** to show them the error of their ways.
we would not get a chance to go to another planet anyway becaue all of them are inhabitable (from what we know)..so we wont be leaving any time soon.. what i think is stupid is the stupid assholes that make up the government!!! why can't they spend their billions of dollars fixing our planet inside of going to a stupid dead floating rock!! we've already been to the moon there's nothing else to see!!!!!!! if anyone is to blame its them.

this big ball of dirt and water is our home. we are permitted to live on it temporarily and most people have no regard whatsoever for it. as for the planet itself being completely destroyed, I agree with Shadowz in that it will take something from outerspace (be it solar winds, or a gigantic meteor or asteroid shower) to do the amount of damage needed to obliterate this big hunk of rock. even the worst of nuclear blasts wont tear the planet apart. it will totally ruin the surface and mess up the atmosphere for many many years, but nature is resiliant and will come back eventually and start all over again.

for all we know, that's what happened to mars, and 10,000 years from now it will have little creeping insects and creatures moving around on it... the beginnings of life all over again (if it doesnt already). mankind has been on this planet for FAR longer than 10,000 years. I'm talking about homo sapiens sapiens. not homo erectus or homo habilis. our kind has been around for more like 200,000 years.

Oh and the chicken came first, if it was the egg, they would have died of warmth (or lack of)
PostPosted: Fri Aug 24, 2007 4:17 pm

oh yeah! I voted for the chicken coming first too, because if the theory of evolution is true, then the first chicken was quite possibly hatched from the egg of whatever the bird was that the chicken evolved from.

That's a good question, but a bad theory. Personnaly I don't see the world surviving the next 40 years. Global warming, asteroids (00.000015% is actaully pretty good), gamma rays (thats ~00.0002%) from dying stars, (no, the "gray goo" armeggedon cannot happen) nuclear war (stupid N.K. we have bigger, better and more.), world takeover (China. if not that, my conspiracy theorist step-father can give you quite the history lesson.) all major things that humanity needs to unite and focus on, or crash and burn. (or freeze/flood) Our desires to go to Mars/space is because, yes, our planet is dying. We poisoned it and found out too late.

IF global warming is just that, a theory, then this planet is doomed to another ice age. I like to refer to the ice age as "the big reset" (or the causing of it "nature's reset button") because everything will freeze over, and Earth will look like it did in the beginning. Glaciers on Canada and Greenland (how long is it going to stay there?) and all of our great structures will be crushed and taken away by the ice. (kinda like the ending of the movie A.I.) If we effectively made it to space (and survived that long) then we go back and try again.

NUCLEAR WAR!! Yes, while it is unlikely* it is a possibilty. *North Korea and their little (technically) still on-going war has them putting everything they have into their military (even their lunch money). China backs N.K. (but that relationship is declining) and the US backs South Korea (who put all of their money into their people. S.K. has a higher percentage of people with internet, average internet speed is faster than ours, and if you look at a satelite photo of Korea at night, you can clearly make out the DMZ line. It's that bad for N.K.) IF North Korea gets a nuke and launches it (does it matter on who?) S.K. and (team) America will come cracking down and that war won't be pretty. (if China joins in... goodbye.)

WORLD TAKEOVER (pfft, who cares, as long as I have internet and food.)
WORLD TAKEOVER BY ROBOTS (okay, NOW panic)

But yes, the world is dying, but just thinking "we screwed up, we don't deserve another planet. We should pay for our mistakes." is quite Atheistic (EMO!!) and hopeless. We want in space because it will be a preservation of the human race. (sorry hippos) It is against natural behavior to just 'lay down and die'. If you mean that if we go to Mars and pollute it (pollute what, the 2" of various gases?) then... too bad, we have our little vacuum-sealed domes... biggrin I'll probably be around to see the end of the world, and I'll be the one desperately trying to stall the end. biggrin
