I've been playing Violin for about a year now, so I ask... Does anyone else play a violin, or even in the orchestra? Discuss.

I play violin! I'm 2nd and 3rd violin. Since I'm in 3rd violin and people lose their music a lot, I have to read Alto cleft. -_- I have potential to be 1st violin, but I don't practice. So... blah.

Ah...the violin...my first love... mrgreen
Out of the three instruments I play, the violin would have to be the most rewarding for me. I love how much feeling and soul you can put into a single note. Do you ever just "zone out" when you're playing and get so engrossed in the music you forget where you are or what time it is? I live for that.
I've been playing for 5 years, and was really surprised when I made 6th chair, first violin this year as a freshman. My personal favorite technique is a crescendo with an increased vibrato. It love just laying on the bow and bringing out that full sound. Anyone else have any favorite techniques? What your favorite kind of vibrato? I personally like the kind when you fade out on a really long note.

I don't really live for violin, but it takes up half my life, and I like that technique too =P (the one where you crescendo) I've been playing for about 6 years, and I'm in an orchestra first violin. heart

been playing violin for about 15 years. when i belonged to an orchestra i used to play 1st or 2nd violin. i haven't played with an orchestra in over 5 years, but still give lessons sometimes, and play for private perfromances, and occaisonally with some local bands.
