I, too, am hesitant to believe an unnamed source on this matter, especially when you look at how much they've revealed on the battle system's official discussion/preview page. It may indeed be true that it was originally something someone spouted out to stop people from leaving, but it would appear that one way or the other, they are indeed designing a battle system.

OH! A preview of Assassin's Creed just came on! *moans in dispair* Damnit! I have GOT to get my hands on a 360! (And the theme from "House" is perfect for that commercial mrgreen ...)
