Artanus MissKaos harry potter and the sorcerer's stone was originally going to be named harry potter and the philosopher's stone Actually, no. It was called "harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", but only in England. It was a way to Americanize the book. They also chnaged Quidditch Pitch to Quidditch Field.
The "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" Title is also used in Australia.
How I know? I live there. (or here, I'm not sure...Better stop thinking about it or the universe will collapse on itself)
