I've started up a little thread in the Requests & Commissions forum to bring in a little bit of income here on Gaia, and someone called LordHunter dropped me a friendly little "Good luck with your art shop!" With a little emoticon that isn't an option on the left emoticon menu.
Anyway, that was a couple of days ago. He stopped by again just now and left the same comment. So I looked at his signature which advertises his art request thread...come bump and chat, win prizes, etc. etc. And when I hovered over it, it says it redirects to tinyurl.com/2ens6a (or some randomass thing like that)... confused I decided not to click it because it seemed strange, why would you redirect an art request thread out of Gaia? Is that some kind of scam?

tinyurl.com is just something that people use so that they're not hampered as much by the character restriction for sigs and stuff.
it might want to redirect because he forgot to take out the link to the site ((ya know, like when you don't direct link from photobucket, and so it will try to redirect you to there?)).
i doubt its a scam, but as long as you're not typing in your password, it should be okay. 3nodding

Ah, alright. I remember someone posting a thread here in the GD about getting "hacked" and clicking a link that was supposed to be to someone's RP, but instead logged them out, and when they tried to log back in all their stuff was gone...I didn't want to go through that too. sweatdrop
I've never had that problem with photobucket, but other people have posted about it...o.o I always just click the "url" tag button so I don't have to worry about forgetting something.
Thanks for clearing that up. xD

It just seemed weird that he posted exactly the same message, like it was botting or something. Idk. All I know is I'm thankful for Gaia's redirect warning, even though it gets annoying when I'm trying to look at the samples of artists on their photobucket/deviant accounts.

Also hackers love to put password scams in the tinyurl.com. Like yesterday when moo clicks on a link luckily she noticed it before it was to late. I reported the scam and got a thank you! ^.^

As I posted, just copy the tinyurl, add 'revie.' between http:// and tinyurl and you can see the real url without the threat of a cookie grabber or virus, bug, porn...

>_> I'm constantly clearing that stuff. I've been hacked once before. Not on Gaia, I mean actually hacked...not scammed. O_o
So I learned my lesson about that at least.

Well, I'm a person that leaves the room, and comes back, uses the tektek or in-page thing to suscribed thread (or refreshes the page that didn't load) and I'm logged out. sweatdrop I really do need to remember to hit remember me or check the url. sweatdrop
