This is for you to tell us about that band you love so much, but when you bring up their name to your friends, they give you that "Uh, who the heck is that?" look. There are plenty of other places for you to talk about Linkin' Park or Kanye West. This is where you talk about great bands that you never hear the name of. Such as my all-time favorite, the Postal Service. I'm also a big Death Cab for Cutie fan, but none of my friends knew these bands existed until I tied them down and forced them to listen to the great song, Such Great Heights. I'm done ranting, so now it's your turn! What are your favorite bands that no one ever mentions?

I love Mindless Self Indulgence, but I can't get my friends to listen to it for some reason, but they are so awesome! awesome beats and they curse in almost every song! fast paced music that makes no sense and curses a lot what more could you want?!
Also a lot of people don't know the band Lordi, they're a metal group, and they always dress up as monsters in their music videos, that may sound stupid, but they make it look so damn cool!! and most of their music is very pretentious so I love it!!

this may sound as ridiculous to you as it sounded to me, but NONE of my friends knew Cobra Starship or The Academy Is...before i toled them! it's okay though. i don't want them to get bitten by the awesome bug. it doesn't matter, i've forced two of them to listen to Cobra Starship, they like them a bit, based on the three songs i've played for them.

Thankfully I have friends who know and like Gogol Bordello.
But I wish I knew more people who liked Jaguar Love.
@Slaasher: I freaking love Lordi. I just hate when people say that they're the poor man's GWAR.

I will not call out to you, with deaf ears you'll here me. The only reason I have friend that know about Flatlined is because they're from around here or I've talked about them enough to them. wink I suggest you all check them out. They're an amazing band. Blindly we all follow you, as you lead us to die.

Glorydive, Great Big Sea, Carbon Leaf, and The Push Stars. These are the smaller bands that I'm more understanding if my friends don't know them. Glorydive is small and local, and they are also on hiatus at the moment (the percusionist is doing stuff with the blue man group at the moment). Great Big Sea isn't too big in my area. I know they are bigger in Canada, though. Carbon Leaf is another not quite local band. They are starting to get some airplay in the area. It's quite exciting. And I saw The Push Stars opening for Great Big Sea...
Bigger acts that I get kind of upset when my friends don't know them: Blind Guardian, Kamelot, and Nightwish.
Freaking awesome Symphonic/Power Metal Bands.

She's a singer/songwriter and not a band, but hardly anyone around me knows who Tori Amos is.
It's a shame, because she's amazing.

It's a shame, because she's amazing. I totally know her. My sister worships her.

I really like Super So Far.
Thing about little-known bands is it's good to spread the word about them. Someone said in an earlier reply that they're greedy and don't share new bands with friends. Bands can't survive forever if no one knows about them. Spread the word, get them noticed by more people.. smile
Tori Amos has been around for a long, long time. I know a decent number of people who like her quite a bit. I remember one of the kids I babysat in high school had an older sister who was very into her. That was circa 1995 or so.
