That's right, it's a FREE INTERNET MOVIE from the genius that brought us Firefly, Toy Story, Angel and Buffy, Titan A.E., Alien: Resurrection, Serenity, and numerous comic books: Joss Whedon!
Born in the long dark weeks of the Writers' Strike, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a musical superhero movie in three parts, made specifically for the internet, in which a poor, blue-collar villain tries to "get the girl" while his nemesis, a corporate sellout superhero, thwarts him.
The first episode was released late last night to the show's website and to iTunes, with the second to follow on July 17, and the third on July 19. All three episodes will only be available until July 20th, after which time the Whedons hope to make the full movie commercially available.
It has been popular enough that the server already crashed once due to overwhelming numbers of people trying to watch.
I am SO FREAKING EXCITED about this! I watched the episode last night before it was available to viewers outside the United States, had to install VPN software to get myself a US IP address to do it. I must say it was well worth it! I laughed and laughed. The show is now available globally, so GO WATCH IT!
Oh yeah, did I mention that it stars Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day?
EDIT: Looks like the site's still down, so you'll have to either get it from iTunes or just wait like the rest of us... I wanna see it again NOW! *throws tantrum*
Discuss:
Joss Whedon's awesomeness
How awesome it is to see Nathan Fillion play the antagonist while SINGING
Does Neil Patrick Harris remind you of Christopher Masterson, who played Francis on Malcolm In The Middle?
Do you feel sorry for Dr. Horrible?
Will this movie change the face of how entertainment is delivered?
Why don't I have a time-freezing ray?
