Finally, they were going to find me guilty. I've been waiting for this day for almost a year now. Killed countless people and had a bit of fun while at it too. Now, they were sending me away to, well, hopefully an asylum somewhere. They are safe places, asylums; plenty of warm, beating hearts and unsuspecting people, very few windows, and no sharp wooden stakes.

"Has the jury reached a verdict?" It was Judge McCarter. He was obviously trying not to glare at me. They thought I was guilty for feeding off of one of his little girls. What I would have done if she were added to my list.

"We have, your Honor. On thirteen counts of murder, we find the defendant, Nicholi Micah, guilty." Said the tall man, standing just inside that box holding ten other men and women. For the first time in a long time, I relaxed and took a deep breath. I would be safe.

They gave me a ride there. I didn't much care, less work for me, I guess. My two drivers spoke mainly to themselves. Once and a while, they'd call back "How ya' doin', Nicholi? Hungry?" I would say no and they would resume their business. I couldn't expect them to know what kind of hunger I felt. It was humorous, almost. They all thought of me as a vampire, they knew what had been done to the people and where the blood had gone, yet they refused to admit it might be true.

They all believe that I can't exist. They think I'm insane because my teeth are sharp, and I drink blood. Now, you tell me, is that insane of a vampire? I didn't think so. So I smirked to myself the whole four hours to the nearest asylum and well into the night.

Later on in the darkness, my room-mate was talking in his sleep. The nurses had introduced us, telling me his name was Michael, or something along those lines. All I could think of was that his blood type was AB negative, my favorite. I stood up off my bed and crossed the small room. I didn't much care that there was a camera watching us, I loomed over him and moved the collar of his night shirt away from his throat. I slid my fangs into his neck and held a hand over his mouth so he couldn't scream. I drank until I was full; until he fell limp and stopped squirming on the bed; until he was so dry his eyes were already falling into the sockets.

It took longer then I expected to have the guards come and cart him away and drag me to a more secure room. They had waited until almost eight in the morning. After that, they tried to keep me away from other people as much as possible. They began isolating me at night when they expected me to sleep, leaving me alone as I used the facilities, and other unexpected freedoms that come with scaring people to death. Freedoms that were only in place to keep others safe. That was nice, being alone, and when I wasn't alone, I got a meal from the guard or nurse to time me over till my next one. None of the guards tasted nearly as good as that first man, Mitchell, right?

Still, they had to let me go to 'lunch.' There I was given a tray and sat down at a table. I could see guards spaced every ten feet lined around the walls, so I decided to take a seat more towards the center of the room, purposely taking an empty table as my own.

Not ten minutes later, a pale grey kid with a black and green Mohawk sat across from me. "Hey, you're new, right? I've heard about you. There've been rumors you'd show up here. You’re that Nick guy, right?" He said, not knowing how to pronounce my name.

"No," I said calmly, "No, I'm not Nick, nor do I care that there have been rumors. I'm Nicholi, Nih-koh-lie" I said, explaining once again my name.

"Well..." he seemed at a loss for words, so he must have thought it would have been alright to annoy me. "Whatever. I don't care. I'm going to call you Nick. So, wanna help me get out?"

"No; no I don't truly want to get out." I said slowly, finishing the food that tasted like mud. It was supposed to be soup, and I dumped my bowl into the garbage at the end of the table. One of the guards saw me dumping the tray and called for escorts for me to my room. "Though, sir, you may want to be going. I'll be going to my room soon, after taking the pills they give me."

"Call me G.S." He said, standing and walking away, waving his hand above his head. I watched him walk to his table, just three away from my own.

The three nurses they assigned me gave me my pills and walked me to my room. I lay back on my bed and pretended to sleep for another few hours to so, remembering my reasoning behind each murder.

My thoughts traveled about for hours, never ending and often traveling in circles. Next I knew, they were taking me to the bathroom. The brilliant nurses had started sending multiple people with me, so no more went 'missing.'

I heard the door open while washing my hands, and in came 'G.S.' "Hey man, I'm getting us out, now." He said, and washed his hands slowly, drying them and walked out the door.

I stayed silent, methodically rinsing my hands, and waited to hear something from outside. When I hadn't heard anything for a while, I stepped out the door and saw someone holding a door open at the front of the building. It was dark out and I saw truly insane people running into the world. G.S. was suddenly dragging me alone by the elbow out the door. My guards and nurses were lying on the floor, unconscious or shocked, I wasn't sure.

"DIDN'T I SAY WE'D GET OUT?!" He cheered as soon as we were out the doors. The man holding them open let them slide shut, locking. I pretended to be happy, glad to know I would feed well tonight and be back within the week.

"Keep running then." I said, now leading them away from the center of the city, towards the warehouse district. Soon, I ran into the street when a car was about to pass. The road was mainly empty, and they stopped. I threw open the drivers' door, tossing her onto her street, glad to find out she was driving alone. I spun the car around to pick up G.S. and his friend, and droved, promising I would bring them far away from there.

When we were out of the way, I pulled over, claiming this was once a house I lived in. We were hidden in the night, and far from any prying eyes, so I spun on them, pinning G.S. to the wall with one hand, and snapping his friends’ neck with the other. No one could hear us, no where he were, this far out in the middle of no where. "I told you I didn't want to leave." I whispered huskily in his face, bearing my fangs. I finished him off slowly, enjoying his pain. I drank his warm blood, letting it slide down my throat and I could feel it warming my body already. He wasn't conscious for half of it, so I stopped when I knew he would die. Though, his friend was AB negative and I couldn't waste that. It was like giving aged wine to an alcoholic with tastes.

Slowly savoring the night and any unfortunate souls who saw me, I drove back to Small-town, Wyoming. I stayed to the back roads with my windows rolled down so I could find and gorge myself on AB neg. Hopefully, I would finish off my hunger for a while, and the police will find me by morning. That would take a lot of luck and skill, but I'd had practice. Maybe, I could get back to the asylum before day break. This would be a fun night!
