~To Obsess o'er the Trivial~

Who; Rose et Nadyris + bottles
When; Early afternoon
Where; About the good ol' town of Aimes

~

It really shouldn't bother him like this.

Nadyris was a creature of few comforts, he had to be. Though he had 'settled down' for the moment here, it didn't mean that he intended to actually live hereabouts. Especially if he had a job. His job, after all, oft took him to the more dangerous regions, this new flat of his just served as a home base, a place to camp and be comfortable, as it were, betwixt his lengthy missions.

Maybe he should just take up that bodyguard offer that had been proposed a week or so back. He was considering it, after all.

But all that took a place on the back burner next to this current, very pressing need. He needed a new knife. It was no longer keen enough to shave with, and he'd had to sharpen the damn thing so many times that it was all but blunt, there were nicks and scratches in it that no amount of sharpening and refurbishing could cure. It was a shame, really. The knife had been a friend to him since before his lean frame had fully filled out.

But it was clearly past it's prime, and though Nadyris was loathe to part with it, it was simply no longer a useful tool, and with the way he lived, that could mean life or death in the space of a split second.

So here he was. Out shopping, dressed neatly, albeit casual, appearing as unoffensive as his eye patch and scars allowed for. The trouble being...he didn't have the first inkling of where he should start.

He blamed it entirely on the failure of his coffee maker to comply this morning.

The windstorm had finally stopped...and that's just from the last night.

Whether it was just an odd storm or someone's idea of an very rude joke, Rose now had a pair of shutters to repair and she was not thrilled about it. Especially the fact that she had been woken up by a pair of birds starting a nest in her hair and had to spend the next half-hour getting the creatures out in the most careful way possible. Once she had given her room the once-over to make sure that her hard-fought treasure was still there, she left on her errand.

Needless to say, she wasn't thrilled and grumbled on down the road to find new supplies to fix her home. She opened her purse to pull out her wallet, only to find the object in question...missing? She turned her head as a figure dashed off into the distance with the wallet clasped in his hands. She silently swore under her breath and took after the robber, one hand on the bottles at her side and the other clasped a small hairpin the female always wore just in case this very situation occurred. Pulling the hairpin out, she tugged on the end of it and with a quick aiming motion, let it fly in the direction of the man. With the needed speed she sent it out at, it quickly found its target in the man's neck and the would-be-robber fell to its power.

Rose caught her breath as she reached the now-unconscious man and pulled out her weapon, the sleep-powder covered hairpin. The girl grinned as she pulled it back into her hair, until she could get it home to re-powder the trusty weapon. "Heh." she spouted back at the man who couldn't hear her on the ground. "Pretty brave to steal from a former thief aren't you?" Of course, that was years ago, but she was still a bit proud of her skills and reputation that she had gained all that time ago.

She looked up only to see the sign for the trade-and-barter store she had been originally seeking in the first place. "And look at that....lucky me." she smiled, scribbling a note saying "I am a thief" and pipping in on the man's shirt before calmly dusting herself off and moving towards the store's door.
