...........It rhymed a bit. but thats not the issue here.

I am surprised that this topic hasn't been made yet but here is what is going on.

The Japanese have made a new game and has gone farther then Rock star on the low charts. this new game you ask is called "Rapelay" its a full blooded rape simulator where you molest, torment, and obviously rape a mother and her 2 daughters and also praying to the "rape gods" to help you in this task

http://www.slate.com/id/2213073/

The issue at hand is whether this game should be allowed to be in the USA. I don't know how other countries stand in this and I imagine Canada would be hesitant to let this game in as well.

The arguements are that this game can be an outlet for rapists and other sex crime raisers so it could drop crime rates in that regard. but on the other hand along with violence in video games can it -provoke- people to want to rape and cause havok?

Feminist groups have gathered and also to speak out against letting this game in on account that it degrades womens safety and is treating women like objects and not human beings.

there have been some videos of people going against "Rapelay" or at least asking for other views
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-937609901607936941&ei=yfy2SdPDBJTWqAKwiaXmDA&q=rapelay&hl=en

So ATG?

-Should "Rapelay" be acceptable?
-Why should it be acceptable or not?
-Should we stretch out and try to have these kinds of things banned in other countries?
(to relieve tension) -should kittens have soup kitchens?

I'd say the censors are going to have a thing or two to say on that game coming here. Then again, games like Bully and the GTA series are popular here...and their plots all focus on the promotion of deviant behavior to play successfully. I suppose there's a chance the game could make it through...but should it? I'd say no.

Rape based game play is terribly disturbing. I can't imagine why anyone would want to promote such a thing in a game that will be played by minors.

Things like this have existed for more than 6 or 7 years. There are also far worse things.

Did either of you ever play Bully? Because I'm not sure I recall anything terribly disturbing about the content of that game. Certainly nothing worse than has always been the center of video games. At least no one is killed. Hell, in most video games people are killed so fast it's not worth noting.

Anyway, it is a fact that in places where extreme and graphic pornography is fairly readily available, there are fewer acts of sexual violence committed. I would rather someone with these urges express them safely in their home with this piece of technology than on real people.

Never played Bully, never will. The concept of training children to be bullies pisses me off, especially since I was bullied alot as a kid.

As far as video game violence is concerned: I once saw a shirt that said "If video games affected us, we would all be running around eating little dots and listening to repetitive music." I absolutely LOVED that shirt, and I would wear it all the freaking time. Until then, I am stuck with my "Nintendo Rehab" and my Twilight Princess shirts. I don't really think kids are all that affected by video game violence. I myself have played many video games, mostly medieval/fantasy based games, such as "The Legend of Zelda" and "Tales of Symphonia" and while I do in fact collect blades, I would NEVER resort to using said weapons unless in an extreme situation.

YOU try finding a game that has absolutely NO violence in it whatsoever that has done well. Other than sports games, there isn't really anything.

Guitar Hero!! That totally counts!!

On the topic at hand, though, it's hard to believe I'm serving a country in which these things take place. I never played Bully either, but I didn't find the idea amusing.

RapeLay, huh? I tend to stand on either side of the tracks on this one. I wholeheartedly agree with Milk's statement. If people have an outlet for their aggression, they can channel it away from destructive ends. I'm not saying I support a game like this, though. There are other ways of channeling aggression that don't involve... this.

I don't think it's any of our business what other countries allow. We already have enough pokers in everyone's fires as it is. I say live and let live, damn it.

And yes. Kitten (and puppies) should have soup kitchens, though not necessarily in the same room. I suppose kittens and puppies get along much better as a default than cats and dogs because they're closer to the same size and haven't learned to hate each other yet...

Um... Welcome to 2006? Actually much before that.

H-games aren't uncommon in the land of the rising sun. About 90% of Hentai is rape scenarios anyway, this isn't surprising at all. It's a social illness some say. I don't live there, I don't really care.

This is achieved by rolling a magical, highly adhesive ball called a katamari around various locations, collecting increasingly larger objects, ranging from thumbtacks to people to mountains, until the ball has grown large enough to become a star.

The issue isn't that they make rape simulators the issue is that they are sending them to the USA now.

Bully was NOT about training kids to be bullies. You should at least read the wiki about it. It's about surviving as a new kid in a private school. It's more about protecting yourself and others from bullies than actually bullying. The title comes from the name of the school, Bullworth Academy.

About Bully, wikipedia
Bully is a sandbox game set in a school environment. The player takes control of teenage rebel Jimmy Hopkins, who from the opening cutscene is revealed to be a difficult student with a disruptive background. The game concerns the events that follow Jimmy being dropped off at Bullworth Academy, a fictional New England boarding school. The player is free to explore the school campus in the beginning and, later on in the game, the town, or to complete the main missions. The game makes extensive use of minigames. Some are used to earn money, others to improve Jimmy's abilities or get new items.

School classes themselves are done in the form of minigames, broken into five levels of increasing difficulty. English, for example, is a word scramble minigame, and as Jimmy does well in this minigame, he learns various language-skills, such as the ability to apologize to police for small crimes.

Jimmy has a multitude of weapons available, although they tend to run along the lines of things a school boy might actually attain, such as a slingshot, bags of marbles, itching powder, fire crackers, stink bombs, and, later in the game, a bottle rocket launcher and the spud cannon, a firearm that launches potatoes. Although fighting is an integral part of the game, violence against girls, smaller kids, or authority figures generally has swift and severe consequences.

Jimmy also has an assortment of vehicles to operate — mainly a skateboard, but also a scooter, a go-kart, a lawn mower (for money, and also to complete a detention and, towards the end of the game, some missions), and various bicycles. By passing shop classes, Jimmy can build increasingly high-performance BMX bikes, and use them in either races or a bike park. The player can also alter Jimmy's physical appearance to his/her liking by purchasing new clothes, haircuts, or even tattoos.

This...doesn't sound like it. Sounds like you play as the bully himself. I also get the same answer form my little brother, who has played the game.

I guess the real issue here is that in any sandbox game it is about the nature of the player.

Well that's another thing. People have been getting import games from all sorts of off shore companies for years. People can download that particular game right now from certain pirating sites. It's difficult to safeguard people from the internet.
