Alright, I want to start out by saying, if you're going to be dissing on MJ or saying rude things about him, don't even read past this sentence. Because I'm not going to have it.
Today, I watched the majority of Michael Jackson's memorial service on CNN, as I imagine a lot of you did. It had great speeches, great performances, and most importantly, great people. He was surrounded by his family, friends, fans. No matter who it was, each person had a piece of Michael in them. Even people simply watching it from home could feel that Michael had blessed or changed them in some way. I know, from experience, that just watching him throughout his career has inspired me. Because I know, that it doesn't matter what color you are. It doesn't matter what has happened on your life. It doesn't matter where you come from or what you do. All that matters, is your voice. And by that I don't just mean singing voice. Having the ability to sing is a beautiful gift, but having the ability to speak, and to change, is an even more beautiful gift. And that's just what Michael did. He spoke, he gave, he changed, he broke the mold for so many people. Michael changed me. Because he gave me hope. He gave me reason to keep on trying for what I want most. Yes, I highly doubt that I, or anyone else, could be as big and as popular as Michael Jackson. But that doesn't mean we just give up! It means we try even harder, we stretch farther, and we dig deeper. As humans, that's just instinct. When we want something, we know how we're going to try to get it. It's just how we function. I look back on Michael's life. I see that there was nothing wrong with him. Yes, most will argue with me. But it's not like he's the only one who went through the things that he did. It was just more apparent that he was different, because he was so popular. Ultimately, his greatness covered all of his "abnormalities". In each of us, there is a piece of him, even if you don't know it yet. At one time or another, we will feel it. Maybe it's when you hear the name Michael, or you hear Thriller, or Billie Jean. Whatever it is, it helps us remember the legacy that he has created. And I will cherish that until the day I die.
Thank you.

Nicely said. He was a great man indeed. I might not be a fan but I did at least respect him.
I however didn't get a chance to watch that program. Mainly because someone else had a controller, and my aunt would yell at me for it too. [Seeing that she hates him and all]

I watched it as well, but only the last hr of it The poem read by Brooke Shield about the lamp and the prince touched my heart. I felt that she was speaking from her heart rather than reading a piece of scripted paper.
Also, the speech MLK III gave was phenomenal as well, "if you can't be the sun, you can be a star."
I nearly teared when one of the Jackson sung "Smile" at the end.
It was truly a once a life time moment for me as well as for everybody else.

I had to go to school.. I realy wanted to watch it.. but I only got to watch 30 minutes of the ending...
Man..
Michael Jackson was my all-time King of Pop singing hero. In all honesty, everything he did was great, and for those who disagree and acredited him false accusations can go to hell! 8D
It's amazing, in all entirety what that man did. Professional wise, Career wise, Family wise.

Very kind words that convey what all of us feel. I couldn't have put it better myself. I didn't watch the memorial, although had I, I might have just bawled my eyes out.

They had a recap going of the ceremony. Oh my goodness, it brought tears to the back of my eyes. That little girl taking the stage, talking about her dad... Just heartwrenching.

I tried to watch it, but when Mariah Carey stepped out on stage and started singing, I walked out, saying, "Ok, nope, I'm done."

Deppfan Teague I tried to watch it, but when Mariah Carey stepped out on stage and started singing, I walked out, saying, "Ok, nope, I'm done." I like her songs, but even I kinda cringed when I heard her rendition of "I'll Be There". So many flat notes were sung. Maybe she's not good live, or it's the fact she's been singing so high for so long. Either way, Michael's version is best.

All of us feel?
No. I mean yeah its sad he died. I'm not saying its not sad he died. But its not affecting me in anyway. I didn't think he was some amazing singer, or some righteous person. I wasn't a big fan of his when he was alive. I liked a few songs and that was it.
I think it would be even ruder if I was all "Oh MJ! I miss you! You're the best!" when I really don't feel that way. Hes a man. He isn't some God. I don't think anyone should be treated like that. Which is why I'm not broken up over it. I didn't know him. So how can I possible feel personal remorse? I feel saddened he died, but only because death is sad. Not because I actually knew him. It would be the same thing if I saw a dead puppy on the side of the road. Its sad. But it wasn't my puppy. I didn't have personal relationship with said puppy, therefore I don't have a personal attachment.

Quoted for truth heart Well, I should've phrased that statement a bit better. I am quite terrible at phrasing what I wish to say in a decent manner. sweatdrop I, in no way think he's some kind of god or anything. He is a man, that helped shape the musical industry, break barriers, yes, but not a god.

"all of us feel" simply means that we mourn for a man who was a legend, nobody said anything in comparing him with God or anything. You brought it up, like always, and acting like a rebel. The first post simply says if you do not care, don't bother posting, I'm sure you have a million things better to do than not caring about Michael Jackson's death. I mean, if you do not care, then why post about how you don't care?
