You might have guessed it, Elcia got her wisdom teeth pulled.
yay what fun stare

Frankly wisdom is not a word that comes to mind when I contemplate today.
Well actually it's pretty cool that the human mouth comes with its own spare tires sort to speak. They serve to replace any teeth you might have lost over the years.
But tooth hygiene being what it is in many places now, makes them mostly obsolete.
Especially in the smallest of faces.

Soo discus
Dentistry tales,
that ridiculous pins-and-needles side effect of the numbing agent *prods lower lip*,
good excuses for eating ice cream,
and the accuracy of their name.

I "had" 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, or so I thought. A few weeks ago I was at the dentist (not the people who did the surgery) and had some X-rays done. Low and behold that there are two teeth shaped objects in the middle of my face. It turns out that taking all 4 teeth out wasn't worth the effort, so they left 2 in there. Bastards

My biggest fear the dentists, I have never had anything pull out thank God all natural biggrin
but why did they pulled her teeth?
PostPosted: Mon Aug 10, 2009 5:28 pm
I've had eight teeth pulled total.
The first set of ... well they're like very the first smaller molars ... no idea what they are called. They came out in pairs some years ago.
I have a very small jaw so there wasn't even room for teeth that generally stay put much less extras.

Thats a ripe off Sav... The specialist said "we'll do them all at once since you won't want to come back afterward" not that I remember a thing.

I've had 8 teeth pulled as well. 4 Bicuspids prior to getting braces slapped on me, and all my wisdom teeth about a year ago (I had chipmunk cheeks and bruising along my lower jaw for like a week). Blecch. I don't like dentist peoples (that includes dentists, orthodontists, and oral surgeons).

But yay for excuses to eat nothing but ice cream and jello and such (to be honest though I started hating it about 2-3 days in T.T I missed real food.)

same here, didn't have wisdom teeth pain either. I don't really like dentists so I think I'm ok with this.

My wisdom teeth are still oddly healthy. Which is odd, since I don't brush nearly often enough.

My dentist says my wisdom teeth came in just fine and they don't need to be removed.
Only problem with them is they caused a little bit of overcrowding as my jaws are small.
Two teeth are just very slightly out of allignment but it's nothing serious and virtually not even noticeable.

I hate hate HATE going to the dentist, and going to the orthodontist is killing me even more. From what every dentist I've gone to has told me, I won't ever need my wisdom teeth removed which makes me a very happy bunny. I'm still unhappy I have to deal with braces though, but I guess I'll deal. One of the things I hate the most is when the give you the shot in your gums to numb everything... they always scream at me to stop holding my breath cause I ALWAYS tense up. Needless to say I am so tense during dentist appointments I always come out shaking.

@Sanzo: That's too bad. I was fortunate enough to have a really awesome orthodontist. He was the nicest guy ever, and I was always SUPER nervous at my appointments. He had a way of talking to kids/teens that was really calm and mellow. And 90% of the other people who worked there were just as friendly and fun. I only ever had one nurse who was really super mean. xp

::Back to Wisdom teeth::

I had all 4 removed, and the surgeon told me later that even though I was out cold for the whole thing....I still cried the entire time xp But they did an awesome job, and my mouth healed almost entirely in less than a week. xp At my follow up appointment a week later, the stitches had already fallen out, and the holes had closed. So it really wasn't too bad.

I never got mine pulled...at least not yet...

I hope not.. D:

The dentist isn't as bad as the doctor.

But there was this one woman who had no idea what she was doing.

She tried giving me and x-ray for my mouth and stuck these things in my mouth.

They hurt. DD:

Her x-rays must have came out blotchy.

@Erv: The orthodontist said that the wisdom teeth generally stay health despite it being hard to brush them. But that they often cause the teeth in front of them to go bad from stuff accumulating between/under them. But you are luck to have the room for them.

Awe Sanzo you poor thing.<3
I think I'm short the same teeth as Invis which has speared me the need for braces.

@Kayla: I guess even your subconscious was not a happy camper. But at least it all worked out well.

So far I have pretty much no pain, just the ickie sensation that comes from having injured gums in your mouth.

My friend got her wisdom teeth pulled out just yesterday morning! <.< So I went over to her house ASAP to take care of her, make sure she didn't fall down her own stairs and whatnot... She was high as a kite; never seen her like that before. Couldn't walk, could barely speak... But she somehow managed to still play expert on Rockband drums and beat me. stressed I just don't understand... Must be deeply ingrained into her brain. Moreso than walking and speaking. Lol.

Nobody's said a word about wisdom teeth to me... I'll probably have to have them pulled later, in college or something, but for now I'm safe. I've never had any teeth pulled...

Actually Slim reminded me, one of my professors a couple of semesters back had his wisdom teeth pulled during the year. He was gone for almost a week. The reason: a day or two after they were pulled he passed out from the meds. By passed out I mean he literally did a face plant to the ground. His wife found him sometime later, face down with a small pool of blood around his mouth... yeah needless to say we were glad he was okay.

I'm actually pretty convinced I have enough room in my mouth for my wisdom teeth to grow in.

*feels with tongue*

Yep, plenty of room.

But I did have to go to the dentist today for a routine cleaning.
AND. MY. TEETH. HURT. SO. MUCH. Dx
So much soreness! Why does getting my teeth cleaned make 'em hurt like this?
