Kenji chuckled and tickled her harder. "Hahaha!" He laughed then he stopped tickling her and stood up. "Lets go train-fight each other." He said putting his hand out to help her up.

The black haired teen jumped quickly from roof top to roof top, finding the streets to be too crowded for the speed she needed to get to her brother's apartment. Of course, under the registry it not longer harbored his name but Misaki, his broken hearted fiance and Tsukiko's ex sister in law. Tsukiko refused to call it anything other than her brothers apartment. A stinging memory resurface from a place where she had thrown the remnants of her broken heart. It had been the first time her brother had talked of leaving the main house.

A young girl walked hand in hand with a boy that did not appear to be that much older than herself. He had lost his baby appearance but small remnants were still left there of childhood. He tugged her along playfully for her steps were much smaller than his own stride. Suki. Look! This is where I will bring my blushing bride in the future! The little girls face was dulled as she heard her older brothers cocky talk of what was to come in his life. But you don't have a girlfriend yet onii-sama! Her brother blanched, covering her mouth so that her high voice would not carry to a group of women who were standing in a group watching them. They had heard his big talk earlier and had heard Tsukiko's innocent burn. The began to laugh and shook their heads as they disbursed, leaving her older brother with red splotches all over his face from embarrassment. Aww Suki. You little booger.

Tsukiko blinked furiously then, pulling herself out of her own flashback. It would do no good to recall things that only seemed to hurt now. Finally spotting her street, she banked a hard right and jumped directly into the gap between two buildings. She dropped to the ground dangerously fast, buffering her fall as she descended. Her landing was perfect now, not a thud to be heard or felt. Looking up she straightened herself out and continued to run up into a light colored apartment complex. There were only three other tenants in this building. Two bellow and them taking up the whole top floor. Her brother had talked the owner into letting him convert both apartments into a master suite. What good looks can get you. Tsukiko froze in place, just before she placed her hand on the door handle. Misaki, her brothers former fiance, was probably home now. It would not end to nicely if she had to tell her that she was going on a mission outside of the village. Better to get in and out without her noticing anything was amiss.

While Tsukiko was training to be a renounced Kunoichi, Misaki had blended in to become an ordinary citizen. Her smiles and gestures better suited for being a house wife more than anything. Tsukiko loved Misaki like the sister she would have become but her brother's disappearance had left an awkward hole between them. Misaki did not treat her badly at all but it was visible just how hard the woman had to try to not think of her brother every time she saw her. Around the time of her brother's disappearance Tsukiko had made it a ritual to stay away from home for a few days, to lessen the burden on Misaki. Whether it helped or not, she could not be to sure.

Jumping up top the roof once more, she climbed in through her window. Her dimly lit room was eerie and plain as she moved about it. The only things tangible in her room were her bed, desk and side drawer. On the top was a face down picture of her brother, Misaki and herself when she was seven. Moving to the drawer, she pulled open the two drawers and rummaged through them, getting some clothes just in case.

Closing them, the stood up and walked to the closet, opening it without making a sound. Standing on her tip toes, she pulled down her pack, most of her tools and necessities inside. Squatting down, she picked up the small pouch that homed her sharpened set of kunai and shuriken. Various vials and herbs was rolled neatly inside as well, a must for any medical trainee. She strapped the pouch around her waist, letting it rest on her right hip. Grabbing a small pair of black, half cut gloves, she slipped them on, clenching her fists to make them fit better.

Mentally checking things off she deemed herself prepared and smirked. This was really happening. Forgetting to keep quiet, Tsukiko slammed the sliding door too loudly causing her to freeze in place and listen to see if she had alerted Misaki who was in the kitchen from the sounds of the clinking of dishes. The water stopped running from the sink then which caused the young kunoichi to panic. Quickly she jumped out the window, moving off to the side of it and curling off to the side to listen. Misaki walked into room after knocking a few times, her bright chocolate brown eyes inspecting the empty room. She seemed to sadden a bit before letting out a little sigh. Walking over to the desk drawer she plucked up the picture of what once was and sat on Tsukikos bed with a soft 'plup'.

"Be safe Tsukiko...come home soon."

The woman said, her voice almost all knowing in a sense. Suki scowled a bit and detached herself from the wall, landing bellow with the slightest of thuds. She sped off then, not bother to look behind her as she headed for the bridge where her friends were supposed to met up.

It had been ages since the last time Tsukiko had been 'home'. What felt like ages anyways. Her expression was ever so dull as she trudged over to her house. Suki held only her pack, the tattered remains of it anyways. She would need to invest in new equipment soon. If what Edegaru had said held true, her rank would be boosted and she would be allowed to indulge in a lot more techniques than she was restricted to at the moment. With no teacher she was going off of what she read and saw. It was difficult and near impossible to master anything without the proper ramifications. The cozy little apartment where her brother had lived, her only sanctuary, was especially dreary. Any other given day Tsukiko would have found this odd but her mental fatigue and physical resolve had faltered. Something that subtle would remain oblivious to her until she was facing it directly, and directly she was about to face it.

Normally, she would have ran up the side wall, ignoring things such as stairs but today she was in no rush to get into her dark room. In fact, a part of her wanted to meet Misaki, her brother’s fiancé face to face. Misaki was always bright a cheerful and would momentarily allow her to forget the seclusion she felt from others when she was not with her team mates. Up the steps she climbed until she reached the last floor, two apartments created into one long master suite. Gripping the knob, Suki was about to turn it when a presence to her right caused her to flinch and turn her head. The landlady was standing at the other end of the hall, the hall used to send trash down the chute by anyone living on this top floor. The women’s mouth was slightly agape, the creases in her forehead stretched thin by her blatant surprise. ”You came back!” Tsukiko was a bit at odds for the moment, unsure of how to respond to the woman’s exclamation. No one knew she had left to begin with so it made no sense to her. Suki was not too excited to begin communication with someone so nosy. Temper already short, Suki responded in a very curt manner, even for herself.

”Yeah? So?” The old lady paid her no mind and dove into what she was obviously dying to tell Suki. ”Misaki left already, dear. She is engaged! “ Tsukiko’s world stopped in that split second. The old hag was going on and on about the man and circumstances that led to their meeting and engagement but Tsukiko was not paying attention. The only thing she could really grasp was the inevitable fact that her only ‘family’ left was gone. Her brothers home was broken apart now. Trembling and curling her fists tightly, Tsukiko glared at the women. ” What about my brothers apartment?!” Now the old lady seemed to garner her senses and that sharp and cunning look of a landlord returned. ”Well, seeing as no payments were made, I am preparing to rent it out to the highest bidder. If you can cover this months and last months pay I will gladly give you the keys.” Tsukiko held back a string of vulgar language, knowing fool well she could not afford to keep her brothers place. Her income from her allowance was only enough to rent something small. There was no way she could continue payments. The woman seeing that her face held the answer scoffed. ”You couldn’t really have thought to remain here for the rest of your life, right? This was your brother’s dream, not yours. Reality is harsh, but strikes true. You’d be smart to learn from this.” With that she left, leaving Tsukiko with a bitter taste in her mouth.

It took her forever to finally leave from where she stood; Misaki had abandoned her just as her brother had. What was the point of even shooting for her dreams when they were already cut from the middle? Tsukiko high tailed it from there, heading for the Lake to seek her comfort.
