xxxxx۩ Backstory:

When Keely was still in a basket, her parents chased off a few kalona's trying to get at her and her siblings baskets. Before going after the Kalona's, they called on their son Caraway from their earlier breeding. It was his job to watch over the baskets and make sure they were safe while the parents were away. Soon after, he saw a large Kalona at the edge of the field they were in. Knowing his job, he went after the stallion and made sure he would not get close to the baskets. He chased the stallion away and entered into battle with him. The result being Caraway injured and slow to move, but at least he had made the Kalona flee. Or at least he thought till he made it back to the field. One basket was missing, and the other lay empty. Keely had emerged from her basket, alone and afraid. She had thought she had family to depend on, but when she came from her basket, they had all gone and left her. What was Caraway to tell his parents?

Because of this, Keely awoke from her basket all alone. She thought no one wanted her, and grew depressed and lonely. To keep from starving, she tried her best to find another soquili. It was then that she wondered into Bakennefi’s swamp. She was convinced that she had to stay there with him. He treated her like a mangy dog and convinced her that no one would ever want her and that she should feel ‘lucky’ that she had his swamp. One day she was able to escape.

She was worn down mentally from his abuse and physically exhausted when she wandered into the Blood Carnival. It was there that she met Vladimir. Not only did he treat her like trash and say worse things than Bake, he physically abused her. Nothing sexual since she was still just a young filly, but hitting her. Her only ‘friends’ at the carnival were Vlad’s goat; which was mostly too scared to even talk and really only kept her warm during the night when she wasn't being abused. And Barker Hook, the ring master of the carnival. It didn't happen much, but sometimes he would catch Vlad and make sure he stoped. A few times Keely was able to get up the courage to have mini conversations with him. He was pretty much the only thing keeping her sane through all of that. Finally with the little strength she had she was able to escape Vlad. Though she had no idea where to go, since Bake’s swamp was the only place she could remember ever being besides the carnival. Sometimes she would dream of her parents, but she was convinced it was just her trying to get away from the pain. So she went back to Bake’s swamp.

Once reaching the swamp, Bake sneered and told her his swamp was the only place for her. Noticing her cuts and bruises, he forced her to go into his polluted swamp water. Making her get infections. A few days later when Bake was on an errand, Carlisle flew over the swamp and noticed her. He could see how bad she looked and thought she had just wandered into the swamp unknowingly. He carried her away to a clearing in a forest to build a fire and clean her wounds. It took two days to successfully clean and treat her physical wounds. All the while telling her stories of foals playing in fields and families being together. He thought telling her such happy stories would give her hope. When she was finally able to regain conciseness, she was convinced that those stories were her past. Her mind had blanked out her past to keep her from further harm.

She now thinks of Carlisle as her uncle. After following him for a few days he found a teepee for her and told her to stay there. He comes to visit every so often. Though lately she doesn't seem to need him as much. She has found Ironforge. Though she doesn't see him as often as she would like since he is the leader of his herd and can not get away as often.

Keely finally got up the courage to ask Ironforge if she could join his herd. He was happy to accept her into his herd, and permanently into his life. It wasn't long before the happy couple found out Keely had become pregnant. The whole herd rejoiced in their first breeding, saying it was a gift from the gods. Unfortunately, late in the pregnancy, Keely started having nightmares and flashes of a tormented life. Horrible horrible visions scared her during the night. The pregnancy started to wear on her sanity as she continued to have sleepless nights. Worried for her and the babies safety, Ironforge gave in and decided to tell her she wasn't having nightmares, but visions of her past. On one of his visits with Carlisle, Carlisle had told him of Keelys past. And in order to continue to protect Keely's happy-go-lucky attitude, Ironforge had decided to keep her past from her.

Keely is truely hurt by what Ironfoge tells her. Not only by the absolutely horrid life that she now knows she had, or that the perfect life she thought she had was now all just a lie. But that Ironfoge had lied to her all this time. She didn't realize he kept it from her to keep her happy. She only thought of the idea he didn't trust her to be strong enough to handle the truth.

At this time, he had been right. Keely began labor that night. She was mentally and physically exhausted. Soon, the foals were placed into baskets and Ironforge had ordered she have time by herself to rest. Keely took this chance to run away. She left the baskets where they lay, left the stallion she thought had betrayed her, and ran till her legs collapsed under her.

While away from Ironforge, she became spiteful and cynical. She grew to hate males and consider them all scum and liars.She would walk aimlessly, often going into a trance and losing track of time. She couldn't care less. She didn't feel she had any thing left to live for. She would meet others along the way. If they were males, she would avoid them or pick petty fights with them. If they were females, she would stay wary, but reluctantly talk if they struck up a conversation. If the subject was brought up, she would gladly tell her thoughts on the male race.

Keely was finally starting to get tired of all the hate in her heart. Pondering if jumping off a steep cliff would be a better option than the meager life she now lived. She walked slowly to the top of a cliff and looked across the land that lay beneath. Tears falling down the steep incline to fall in a shallow river. Even if the fall did not kill her, the water would soon flow into her lungs and solve that. Suddenly, hoof beats could be heard behind her and she saw a large male. She was so tired of this life, she didn't even have the energy to verbally attack her. She would find out that this male was actually her brother. After a lengthy discussion, she finally felt the hatred in her heart had left. She was at ease once more. She now knew that she had not grown up alone because no one wanted her. But because the ones who loved her were out trying to protect her.

With love back in her heart, Keely could now go home. Go back to the love of her life. She finally understood what Ironforge had thought back then. All she needed now was to take the journey back to him. Once she made right with him, she would find the two children she had left behind, and hopefully start a relationship with them.

Keely and Ironforge were finally back together. She had to mend what she had broken, but thankfully Ironfoge's love had not waned since their time apart. The herd seemed to welcome her back as well. But to her, she had to earn their respect back. Ironforge had even brought up the idea that she become the herds lead mare. And she had slowly accepted his offer. Lately her days are filled with lessons from the elder on what responsibilities she would have once she took the position. And trying to get to know her children. Her son had welcomed her fully, but her daughter was hesitant to let her in.

He was able to treat her wounds and when she woke up the next day he became her kind of placebo uncle. He now keeps an eye on her to make sure she is safe and if she ever remembers her past experiences.
  
• Barker Hook | Sometimes kept a look out for her when she was at the carnival and made sure to stop Vlad when he saw him hitting her. Though wasn't around enough to stop it much. Talked to her a few times, kept her sane during that time.
  
• Vladimir | Was her ‘keeper’ when she found her way to the Blood Moon Carnival. He physically and emotionally abused her.
  
• Mohana | Somewhat of an aunt figure. She talks to Keely and keeps her company as her teepee mate. Most of the other horses in her teepee are too busy with their own things. Mohana’s motherly instincts also keep her attached to Keely to make sure she is happy. She does not know her past. Was very happy when she accidently saw Keely and Ironforge together. She can tell there is something between them even when they can’t. ۩
