If it comes from your mind and heart is is art.
People see it as ac rime but do they know what the person has been through? If the person is a trouble maker...its there way to express them self and should not get punished...if its bad words and truly inapropeite images than a crime but defenitly ART!!
...i'd rather die on my feet than keep on living on my knees...

CRIME CRIME CRIME!! THEY DRAW ALL OVER MY PIPES!!!....SO MUCH VIOLENCE COMES OUT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! ALL THE DO IS VANDALIZE BUILDINGS ITS SO EXPENSIVE TO HAVR TOREPAINT OR FIX THERE MESS!...EXPRESS THEMSELF...I BELIVE ITS CALLED PAPER!!!....IF THEY WANNA DRAW ON HOUSES ORFENCES(OR PIPES) DRAW ON THERE OWN THINGS!

but its not always intended to vandalize yes there is paper but graffitti artists use alley ways or rural places not your house or your school those people are just dumb a$$es because they want attention because they think they're bad a$$ i mean the gang related ones lol the other ones are stil vandalizing but they prolly had a purpose or message to set across

true well i have friends who have vandalized the school but wen they are really a graffiti artist they know wen the should stop as in not vandalizing lol

Honestly, Graffiti artists are people who have the guts, mindset, and creativity to actually rebel against society's laws and demands - I actually wrote a report about this subject and I said "Graffiti marks today's generation of art, sort of like cave drawings; but more modern."

Haa. I think its a complicated issue. It depends on how you look at it. There is a fine line between it being a creative artpiece and a simple case of vandalism. Some graffiti artists are really good-they create amazing drawings and some like to portray how our world looks.
But then there are just the really retarded ones that create obscene things that no one wants to look at, usually the gang members.
So thats what I think :/

i have found some articles that a lawyer took a boy to court in england defending his art. they said it actually raised the value of the property because of his beautiful work. and should not be a crime for "enhancing" the property value.

I beleve some grafity can be art. SOme may even wow your eyes! But the thing is most grafity is aded upon public places and sometimes even in front of your own house! If you want a wall to work on do it with permition! Once I'v seen a daycare center with artwork in its wall completely ruined by grafity. Little kids had to see that every day when they walk't in. Th grafity wasn't even art they just doodeld un pleasant things on the characters. So no don't go around saying all grafity is hard because most of the time ,some don't even put mush effort into it and do it just to tick you of. Grafity is art but not if you don't put effort into it. And it can be a crime if you have no permition to put it on public walls!

I believe that Graffiti is more or less another form of ones artistic expression, I don't think it's really a bad thing unless there is some type of violence behind it.
I loath the gang mentality of it all, I think more or less that's where the hatred of graffiti is entincified from. Not so much the defacing of private property, but from the simple fact that it's known as a criminal activity because of the gang involvement that's based around it..
Other than that I love seeing a tag somewhere though in a high place, you really have a since of amazement at what they went through to get up there.. xd 3nodding

You gotta get your feelings out one way or another! I say art because it's art! I have friends who spray painted "All you need is Love" On the walls of my school, and they never got caught for it. So, i think if u don't get caught it's not a crime. Not that I say, "I yo don't get caught murdering someone it's not a crime." It's just artistic expression for sometimes troubled people. 3nodding

It depends on the type - if it looks like the artist put at least some thought into the piece or is trying to convey a message, then it is art. However, tags - for gangs or stuff like that, isn't art. Just vandalism.
