This is a Private Roleplay between
Hymn and Krinn
Please Do Not Post

-------------------------------------

Winds rolled over empty mountain tops, deep valleys, grassy fields, and leagues of ocean. The waves pushed and rolled with it's welcoming breeze, refusing to fight against it's oppressor. The wind shifted and moved the water as it willed. Without a seconds delay a flat ocean could turn into a place of turmoil and disaster. Everyone had read of under currents, vanishing boats, and various other rumored mystery stories that happened on open sea.

With eyes locked on the horizon a dust carefully watched the sunset with golden eyes. His smile was non-existent and thoughts without movement. The dust refused to begin thinking of what had happened only weeks before. Carefully he adjusted himself in the lounge chair and yawned. Since Sojo's disappearance Hymn had found himself back in their old vacation spot.

The breeze was warm year round and the sound of the ocean lulled him into a deep slumber most nights. With the sun rising on the eastern horizon the dust only attempted to adjust himself to keep the sunlight out of his eyes but with a grunt gave up and pushed himself out of the chair.

Stumbling a few steps he managed to gain a hold of his surroundings and the heavy weight now pressured on his feet. He wasn't used to seeing things to clearly, but without his mask he would have to get used to it. Grunting he pushed the curtain out of the way and entered his room.

It was furnished just as it had years before, a four post white bed with a couple of side tables, a television on a small stand, a table, and a sparsely furnished seating area. Crossing the room in a few steps the dust picked up a couple of laid out accessories and pinned them in his hair before he looked up at himself in the mirror.

Looking back at him a couple of golden eyes blinked and he only shook his head. Ever since that day he had thrown everything out, this is who he was now. He would adjust, and so would everyone else. Turning away he grabbed a couple of shillings that had been laying on the table and left his room.

It was a day for the beach, a day for himself.

Breathless, the rain stared back at the sea, ever curious to the place he'd.... never been before.

The sand brushed and caught between his toes, and with a flinch against the cold salt sting, the dust moved along the beach, ever quiet. The crash of waves brushed in one ear and out the other, vague and familiar like a memory on the tip of his tongue. Krinn sighed, hands pulling back at the storm gray hair tangling in his fingers. With some effort, he pulled it into a high ponytail, pausing in a stop as dual colored eyes set upon the lonely expanse of ocean beyond. He felt something cool brush against his heels, as if he was walking on the oceans surface, not the sandy turf before it. But he'd never done that before. The silly idea was enough to make the dust laugh, even though the sound caught in his throat.

For a moment, Krinn forgot why he was here. Eyes closed, the rain inhaled the scent of the sea, salt air brushing his skin. Where was the woman looking out for him? Home, his mind purred softly, even though "home" right now was a pair of horses and a rolled up tent. The dust recalled Suika exclaiming that they were making their way back towards her own lake house. She wasn't as nomadic as she appeared. The dust wondered half heartedly why she'd ever taken him in. The woman had what she wanted - a home, a family - even if that family was a few caravans full of traveling circus and a dog the size of a small pony. He wondered if whatever memories were teasing the tip of his tongue she secretly knew. He wondered who he'd been with in the past, and if the woman had known her... or him?

Head tilted to the side, Krinn discarded the thoughts from mind. The more he thought about the memories he didn't have, the more he'd lose himself. Distracted, the dust stepped to the side, carefully tracing his steps to the waters edge, bare feet dipping into the sea foam. Shivers rode up his back, a pleasant chill passing down his arms. Moving forward, the dust laid eyes on what seemed to be the beginnings of a home of sorts. Private property, Suika's words echoed in his mind. He knew that that meant people, and people weren't always good. But something bit at him; a nagging feeling that this was familiar. The dust couldn't push past the wall in his head though. The blur of white that blocked off whatever life he'd lived before. Whatever he'd even been before.

Peering up at the house, Krinn let the wind tangle with his hair, a moment of nostalgia without cause brushing over him. Something twisted, something ached, but he couldn't identify it. These emotions, they were strange and unusual. He was sure he'd encountered them before, but his mind doused any memory of what they even were. You should leave, the better half of his mind said. But something kept him in place for a few moments, the salty sea licking at his toes. But then there was movement - a spectacle of gold and whites. Eyes widening, Krinn took a few steps back. Someone probably didn't care for a stranger watching their house and so close as well. Rubbing his forehead and tangling a strand of storm gray hair in his fingers, the dust started a retreat, even though curiosity begged him to stay.

This wasn't his place to be. Not when he couldn't even explain who he was.

As his foot steps glazed the white stair case his eyes shifted and observed the rolling seas and warm beach sand. His eyes flicked only a few times before landing on a figure who had since left foot steps in his crossing of the beach front. Either the boy did not know he landed on private property, or he was here for some meaning.

Running a pair of stray fingers through locks of messy hair the dusty looked with contempt and questioning. His mind tugged at his memory as the figure drew closer to his abode. Hymn's amber eyes observed him as his mind lulled through a pile of questions.

However, with a quick intake of air the dust smiled. The face had just cleared up in his vision and Hymn knew that the figure which he was seeing was Krinn's. Although the boy had grown Hymn found that his memory of the boy was impeccable. Their journeys together had struck a cord in his memory.

It seemed as if their meeting felt destined to happen, especially in a place like this. Laying the towel on the white washed railing the dust nodded and crossed the short bridge of gravel before his feet met with the sand.

Hesitant at first the approaching dust waited before shaking his head. He was sure of his approach. "Delicate as the topic may be, can you verify yourself as being a Mr. Krinn?" he questioned with curiosity.

PostPosted: Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:16 pm
The dust winced at the sight of those golden eyes on him, a mixture of nervousness and nostalgia pressing into him like a cold stone. Throat tight, Krinn paused in his backwards waltz, as if a deer caught in headlights. He'd met his fair share of people, even after his unfortunate loss of memory. And far too few had been any sort of decent. Even though this new person looked interesting enough, the sight sent of alarm bells and caution in his head like sirens. Through it all though, a pinprick of curiosity and that white haze echoed. A cruel, teasing sort of thing. It kept him in place. It also made him want to run.

"Delicate as the topic may be, can you verify yourself as being a Mr. Krinn?"

Now at a close distance, the dust had perfect view of this stranger. This stranger who knew his name. Memories pushed at a wall between his subconscious and his mind, separating the two and leaving him thirsty for some sort of answer. Moving a foot back into the damp sand, Krinn gave a soft, one shoulder shrug, still looking at the other in mild bewilderment. Who are you? Was a question that tugged at him, waiting restlessly to be asked. Questions in the past, the one that he'd created after waking up, had been so similar. What is this, who are you, how does this work, where do these lead. Never who are you. It was a first, but a very welcome first. Would this person give him any insight into who he'd been before? Would he like him? Would he not? Did this stranger know the person he'd been before? And if so... what had he been like?

"Mister?"
He repeated slowly, his head tilting to the side. He didn't know this man, he didn't know what to say, but his mouth was taking care of that. "Rest assured, formalities have no grounds here, sir." The edge to his words, hidden delicately in the teasing address of Hymn, was something subconscious now. Something he'd grown fond of in the past that he was still on the cusp of discovering. "I am Krinn though," The rain admitted slowly, his eyes glancing Hymn's in an unreadable fashion. "Verifying that though might be a problem, as I'm not sure I of all people know myself well anymore." His fingers tangled with a strand of loose, stormy hair, trailing off with a slight click of tongue.

Raising his eyes to Hymn again - as the sand had become a very interesting focus for him while he'd been talking - Krinn shifted his weight to one foot, hands shifting to rest on his right hip. The breeze brushed his bare shoulder, sending shivers down his back. But they weren't from the cold. No, they certainly weren't from that.
"And who are you...?" He finally questioned, no name twisting into his mind. As if it would. His eyes flickered, unreadable again. "We haven't met before," He trailed off, the white wall barricading the past beyond it.

"Have we...?"

With his lungs held tight and his mind weary of the dusts reply Hymn stood still and looked at the other with caution. If he had made the mistake of approaching another unwarranted and made another wrong assumption- it would only further the disappointment he felt in himself. He couldn't recognize anybody outside of that mask, and no body could recognize him. Pulling gently on the fabric around his shoulders he hesitated before allowing himself the luxury of relaxation.

However, a seconds hesitation from the other dust in conversation sent his mind reeling with questions. He was curious if the other was telling the truth, he had guessed that the other might not recognize him. No one else had. Withdrawing from his pocket proof of who he used to be, a piece of the shattered helmet, he froze.

"Have we...?"

The questionable statement from Krinn infuriated and calmed him at the same time. He knew it could be from either his new appearance or the fact that the other dust might have forgotten him. Taking a deep breath he stored the piece of helmet back into his pocket and withdrew a picture from the other. "You might recognize this?" he asked.

Holding out an old picture of himself and Sojo he nodded and offered it to the other to look at. "It's me Krinn, Hymn," he paused, "We met here last time, you ran into one of my old illusions." The statement was enough to bring back memories if he had locked them away, however, for him to be completely forgotten- that hurt.

As he felt the stillness of the warm morning air he took a deep breath and allowed himself to take rest on a nearby edge on the road. Hanging his feet off the edge he attempted to wave Krinn over so he could watch the rolling morning waves. With an empty beach and a low sunrise Hymn was reminded of their own adventures on the beach front. They had both been so different.

Watching as the other drew his hand back and into a pocket, the dusts eyes flashed. His wary edge was disappearing fast, replaced by morbid curiosity. Who was this person who knew him? Who was this guy who looked so familiar? Forcing the tension to drop from his shoulders, Krinn brushed a hand over the photo, carefully grasping its edges. Examining it quietly, the dust tilted his head to the side. It was a vague tickle at the back of his throat, the idea that this was familiar. The rain sighed. But the white wall was still strong in place, blocking out any memory of the other.

Wavering, Krinn shifted his weight to one side, the morning air mixing with his storm gray ponytail. Brushing away the strands, the dust handed the material back, eyes reserved. Who was this?
"Hymn," He hummed slightly in return, tasting the name on his lips. It left a foreign taste on his tongue. His eyes flickered to the sight laid out before him. He'd been here before? Wait -- illusions? Was this person some sort of magical thing? Krinn glanced at Hymn, weighing this new information carefully. His better half said this boy was insane, but another part said that he had no room to talk. Even if he'd never identified himself as anything other than human, at least after waking up, he'd known there were... differences.

"I dont... know you."

He said in carefully, his head tilting.
"... At least not anymore." The dust went on to say, his eyes flickering in the slightest. Would this upset the other? Would this make him leave? The dust wanted to ask him questions. He needed to figure out why Hymn knew him, from where, how. What was he like? Were they friends? Krinn shifted again, eyes flickering to Hymn's face. The boy studied the other, curiosity mingling with wariness. Carefully, he inched closer as the other moved to settle on the edge on the road. He took his time settling next to the other. He wasn't sure how close to sit, or how different this person could be.

Looking up at Hymn, the dust brushed a hand through his storm gray hair, considering his options carefully.
"I'm sorry." He said finally, glancing out at the waves. The morning was calm and clear, a dizzying difference from back with Suika. He wondered how she was fairing and if he should return soon. Lord knew how much that woman could panic at times. But something held him in place. What if Hymn could help him? What if.

The taste of air on his tongue felt bitter, and it weighed more on his lungs than memory could recall. Withdrawing the picture back from the others grasp he took it in care and stared at it carefully. His own face looked so foreign to him in the photograph, and the man to his right already assumed the form of some stranger. He felt as if that life, which had in the past been his, had been taken from him without warning.

Tearing the picture into two the dust let it fly away into the wind. With heavy shoulders he glanced at Krinn but avoided the others gaze when it was returned. Sighing Hymn felt the weight pressing on his own soul, the weight of having to explain who he was to the other. Had Krinn simply forgotten who he was over time? Or had something happened to him, either way the dust felt it his responsibility to assume and explain who he was to the other.

If Krinn had forgotten who he was, than it was his right to remind him, right? Hesitating for a second he froze and took a deep breath before pressuring his body to stand. Swaying a bit at the quick rise he took the others hand and pulled him away from the road. "I can only do thisonce so forgive me," he whispered.

Placing two fingers together Hymn gently pressed them against the others palm and began singing a slow Hymn between them. It took only a second for the landscape to dissolve and evaporate into a memory of the two of them before. Although only lasting for a split second the dust had hoped it was enough to inform the other.

The spell siphoned his energy and after the memory faded into air and the two of them landed back on the beach, Hymn collapsed. His body fell into the sand, light as a feather. Ever since he had let his rage broil over- the length at which he could manage an illusion had been dramatically diced.

"It's me, why don't you remember me... Krinn." he mumbled as consciousness drifted away.

Watching the ripped image run away with the wind, Krinn blinked, wild dual eyes searching for an answer. Was Hymn angry? Why had he done something like that? The dust felt a shiver crawl up his spine, a vague worry that somewhere along the line he'd said something wrong. Not just wrong though. He wouldn't worry if it had been just like that. His throat felt dry, a bitter taste on his tongue. It wasn't supposed to be like this. Seeing someone who knew him... his memories were supposed to come back. He was supposed to remember, be happy, rejoice. But the persistent wall stood strong. A harsh reminder that nothing was as easy as it seemed.

"This?"
He repeated slowly when Hymn stood up. He followed shortly after, eyes narrowed into a slight from, his hair blown back by the gentle breeze. He took a step back when the other began to sing. The hymn was like a gentle reminder of a fuzzy memory, pressing its hands warmly into his memory, digging and begging for it to come out and play. Opening his mouth, Krinn felt his words blow away as the scenery melted and merged. What was before him - all around him! - was a... memory? The dusts fingers brushed over the illusion of himself, watching in awe as the scene played before him for a few split seconds. And then it dissipated, as if into thin air, leading the storm back to reality.

"Woah, woah, woah --"
Rushing forward, Krinn dropped to his knees, hands pausing hesitantly over Hymn. The other just... collapsed? What was wrong? Pressing his fingers delicately to the soft, exposed flesh, Krinn made sure the other was still breathing before calming his pounding heart. He listened to the others words with a mute expression, understanding vaguely that the other had passed out from... from what? Exhaustion? He'd done it before. He'd tended to Suika as well when she'd pressed herself over her own limits. Was that what this man had just done?

Gently running the back of his hand over Hymn's forehead, Krinn sighed, feeling his head pulse. With a grunt, he pushed his arms under the siren, steadying himself on his feet with Hymn's slumped against him. Even though the other was taller than him, Krinn could tell he was light as a feather. He'd lifted sacks heavier than this! Making a slight face, Krinn sighed, taking careful, cautious steps back towards the house the other had come out of. It took a few long minutes of navigating to find the door, to find a room that looked barely like a bedroom to put the other down in.

Many minutes later, Krinn sat at the edge what he hoped to be Hymn's bed. The sound of the waves crashing was his only company, and the unconscious dust behind him. His head ached, cradled in his hands. Exhaling deeply, the young adult closed his eyes, listening to the low rumble of storm clouds in the distance. He'd always had a feel for... that kind of thing, and the air smelled lightly of damp. Faceless voices and shards of memories passed in and out of his head. He couldn't grasp onto anything solid, concrete. Just the idea that this person had been his friend. Just the idea that in the past, he'd known the other somehow. It was getting clearer. But it was only a sliver. Krinn sighed. Just a start.

"Why dont you remember me."

The words stung in the dusts mind. His throat constricted, and he rolled his head back, tongue pushing to the roof of his mouth as the sound of the ocean echoed back at him.
"I'm trying." He said thoughtlessly to the sea breeze, as if it was Hymn.

"I swear I'm trying, Hymn."

Shivers of pain ran down his down as if a knife had been stabbed through it. As a single tear ran down his faded cheek the dust groaned and rolled over in exhaustion, bearing what little pride he had left to keep. He felt disappointed that he couldn't save his friend, he couldn't do anything right to make him remember who he was, or even some of the memories he had forgotten. Pulling his arms up to his chest the dust began humming a tune he had sung over and over through his lifetime, it was a spell- but without the energy it was now just a song.

Feeling the sensation ripple through his body and cascade through the air he let his smile widen just a bit. Pulling a lock of his hair out of his eyes the siren attempted to prop himself up against the beds headboard. He felt as if he had been placed in his own apartment. Opening his eyes he was blinded at first by the sunlight, but slowly adjusted to seeing Krinn sitting just opposite of him.

The boy looked troubled by something in his mind. The memory to Hymn felt as clear as the morning sunlight, but from Krinn's perspective he guessed it felt like a big fog. Thinking carefully the teen kept silent and eyed the ocean through an unlocked pair of french doors that led through to a balcony. Carefully his mind began to take action and mull over a few ideas he had not taken into account earlier.

With enough energy gathered to move the dust nodded to himself and pushed upwards on the bed mattress. Relying on what little energy he had gathered the dust maneuvered his way through the apartment and too the balcony railing. Staring out at the sea for a moment he nodded and turned, facing the raincloud dust. "Do you remember, and just try to recall, when I taught you how to stand on water?" he asked, "You are a dust, as am I, but you are the Raincloud Dustling. You do remember that much, do you not? You haven't forgotten who you were completely?"

His hand was outstretched in a welcoming manner by the end of his batter of questions. "Let me try one more time, to help you remember." He had one last way to make his friend remember at list his portion of the dust's memories. It was the one thing Hymn had managed to truly teach the boy in their journeys along the beach front.

The dust heard Hymn shift before he saw him. Attuned to as much of the real world as he was to his thoughts, Krinn shifted slightly, but didn't turn his head. His throat was still dry, and his mind blank and filled at the same time. Cracks and shards of memories were dancing just out of his line of vision. Shadows in the dark that were asking for attention, pleading him to make them clearer; they couldn't do it on their own. But how? Krinn mulled over such a simple question. How, how, how? He wanted to. He swore he wanted to, but before he could figure out a way, they were fading again. Leaving with what little images they'd come to share in his mind.

Sensations fled up and down his spine, his back tingling with shivers. He felt as if he was cold, but the air was pleasant. He felt numb, but there was no reason for it. Looking over at Hymn, Krinn studied the other for it, his unreadable eyes taking in the appearance of someone he should have known. His mouth formed words, but his throat didn't work so he dropped the idea and simply stayed put where he was. A spiderweb of thoughts surrounded him, begging him for more reflection, teasing him to come and play. But he didn't, because he was in the company of the siren, and perhaps there were answers for him yet.

As the other moved again, Krinn closed his eyes, playing his fingers around a ring. The cool metal brought him back, cleared his mind. Glancing up as Hymn came around, Krinn blinked, but soundlessly let the other lead him out. Questions died on his lips, and the rain padded quietly after the other, looking up as Hymn came to a halt. When the other turned to him, began to talk, the words made something in his gut twist. Taught? Dust...? His mouth twisted into a thin line at the last words.

"I dont remember... not much at least."
He murmured, head tilting slightly. His eyes glanced out at the sea. "I know how to walk on water, I didn't know that I'd been taught by you." He felt the sea breeze lick at his face. Who was this person? "Dust... is that what I - we're - called...? Did I know more of you?" The rain looked over at the siren, his hands resting lazily on one hip. His head shook at the last question. "I dont know anything, Hymn. Whoever I am, I dont remember. Only the life I've led after waking up." He paused. What else was there to say? He didn't know. So he shut his mouth, and hoped that Hymn might have more insight.

Glancing at the outstretched hand, the dust raised a brow. The other hadn't given him any reason not to trust. What would it hurt?
"What exactly are you going to try?" He asked Hymn with mild intrigue, his fingers slipping into the other inviting hand. He couldn't help but smile slightly. Perhaps he didn't know - or remember - Hymn yet. But the other was certainly proving interesting, to say the least.

So that was the truth, Krinn had lost his memory and now he was in a constant struggle with his mind to unlock it. He had been told once by Sojo that memory is never truly lost, it is only locked away within a filing cabinet in someones mind. It had been a warning just in case he had encountered something like this. With a breath of bitter air that filled his lungs the dust only nodded for the other to stay silent. He had nothing to say in response, but instead pulled the other down a set of white stairs and over to the water front.

"You must remember," he whispered, "this is the last thing I can do." He had admitted the truth, the key to unlocking Krinn's memories either lied here- or nowhere. Taking a deep breath the siren felt the warm touch of the breeze and looked out at the horizon. They were headed fifty feet out into the open water, out where the both of them would have to maintain their own balance or face being dragged away by the current.

Stepping forward the dust managed to hold his power out for the both of them as they began slowly crossing the water. Hymn felt exhaustion creep up on him but his body fought it off with his determination. Grimacing in pain the dust only shook it off and continued to step forward. It felt like hours before they actually reached a point where they could stand, and when he looked back the dust saw they were only double their projected length.

He turned and looked at the other dust, letting go of his hands. "My magic will only last a minute longer," he admitted, "At that time, your's must take over. Believe in yourself and channel your energy to your feet- you will stand. If you can repeat what you did last time, you will have no problem. You are the Raincloud Dust, a teenager who's primary element lies in the power of song, as mine is in illusion."

The moment he finished he nodded and waited for a reply from the other before he let the spell carry only him. 'Come on Krinn, come on...' he pleaded, hands held tight to see if the other could do it.

Whether memories were ever truly lost or not, Krinn could not recall anything clear. Vague outlines continued to press into the back of his head, making it swim with ideas, interpretations, questions even. Exhaling softly, the dust shifted and moved to retie his hair, a habit he'd taken on almost instantly after waking up. He followed the other in silence as he was led down the white stairs to the water front. His eyes flickered to Hymn's back, wondering what in the world the other was thinking. Well, he'd find out at least.

His mind was stolen with questions and thoughts as they began to... wander out into the ocean? He felt his feet touch down on the water, but it wasn't him was it? Exhaling slowly, the young dust moved after the other, his mind a series of questions without answers. Was this another illusion? Or was this a different ability of this strange person entirely? And how could he just accept it so easily? Because it felt right, a part of his mind crooned softly. It berated him for not remembering. The dust focused back on the scenery around them. He was certain now that this wasn't a dream, but it certainly felt like one. Walking on water wasn't supposed to happen outside of myth and legend. Yet here they were, brushing their feet over the waves as if it were nothing.

Looking up at Hymn as he began to speak, Krinn carefully took in the others words, mulling over them in his head. Magic, belief, energy...? The dust closed his eyes and inhaled softly, the scent of salt water and sea. If you can repeat what you did last time. Vague outlines became clearer, and he felt a small part of the wall begin to crack and crumble. What was this...? Before he could think, the spell dropped, alerting him all too quickly that it was time to decide.

Walk on water or drown.

His throat constricted around a slight yelp, his foot sliding back against the water as if to try and catch him. He was surprised to find himself caught... on the surface of the water. the water had begun to lap just about his bare toes, but with a few steps, Krinn lifted it out and stared down at the sea beneath him. His head began to ache again, worse then before. Fresh voices leaped into his head, ones he vaguely remembered as Hymn's and his own. Images like old film crossed his mind, making the dust sway from the overabundance of it all at once. Above, clouds rumbled softly, as if reacting to the exertion of emotion all at once, tangled and colliding as Krinn tried to control the flow of fractured bits of memories. Memories he'd shared with this strange dust; with Hymn.

Knees buckling, the dust let himself fall to the water, though forced enough of the magic through his legs to keep on the top of it. He'd done this before. He knew how. It was easy, it was easy. Taking shallow breaths, the rain pressed his hands to the surface, feeling the cool touch as he tried to calm the spur of emotions. How was one supposed to deal with this? It felt as if he was colliding with not only the memories, but the emotions from that day too. Finally feeling himself calm a bit, Krinn pressed a hand to his forehead, the damp sea water comforting him a bit. Looking up at the other, he watched him for a moment before smiling. A tell tale beginning of a grin that he'd only had in the days before he'd lost his memory. It felt foreign... but so, so familiar.

"I think I'm getting the hang of this."

The two had not been warranted this time clear skies. They hadn't last time, so the environment was a perfect replicant of how it had been. Pulling a pair of fingers up to his brows Hymn scratched them wearily and looked at the other carefully as his spell withdrew. For a moment the dust felt as if the other would plummet under than- than he stayed. Just like that, Krinn had found the surface of the water.

It was no easy task for a dust to overcome. Not with never having learned it before. Hymn knew that, and he knew the feat was something special for the dust. Smiling he carefully watched the other and stepped back as he moved around.

The air around him was weary at first, but lightened as the seconds ticked into valuable moments between the two of them. He held his urge to yell out at first, but than he approached the other with a burst of speed and swung him around.

"You did it, you did it Krinn!!!" with the dust in a tight embrace the siren spun around on the waters surface than set him down with a wide grin. There was no way this was completely foreign to the other anymore. It was impossible that he had recognized his ability out of thin air. Hymn must have done something. At least, that is what he would like to believe.

Pressing a warm hand to the other's arm he smiled, "So, do you remember or feel any different?" His question was sincere, and probably only half of what he wanted to ask. Hymn wanted to ask the other what had happened, why this had all happened to him, and why he hadn't been home.

How wasn't the time.

No, now was time to just smile and be happy. He had made a move to aid the other. For once, he had made a difference.

"Thank You."he whispered, looking towards the sparkling heavens.

The scent of salt water and rain mixed and mingled, drenching Krinn in a warm, fuzzy feeling. It felt like home, something nice, something wanted. He basked in it for a few moments, taking in the entirety of the scene with deep breaths and steady heartbeats. The memories, what little they were, continued to fold over one another, become clearer, piecing together day he'd met Hymn bit by bit, inch by inch. He was still a long ways from having his memory back. This was one day. How long had he been in the world for? Even he couldn't say clearly. One day out of how many...? One person out of how many...? But Krinn didn't dwell on it too long. This was a start! Later on, the buzz of happiness would lean wayward, expose more confusion and more restlessness. But for now it was enough.

The clouds above rumbled gently, a hello to both the old and the new dust that was their friend. For a few long moments, Krinn continued to simply hang there, suspended above the water, away from all of the madness that was reality. Looking up at the sound of the other moving, Krinn opened his mouth, but was surprised to find himself engulfed in a hug of all things. He let out a gasp that quickly spilled into a laugh as he was swung around. Breathless, he let the other hold him, wondering how long it had been since he'd laughed. Reaching his arms up, he circled them around Hymn's neck, barely on his toes as he hugged the other in return.

"Only because of you."
He replied in slight modesty, pulling back a bit to smile at the other. His expression turned nostalgic, distant and unreadable for a moment before he laughed again, a soft, foreign sound to himself. The clouds above rumbled again, echoing his temporary daze of happiness. With a soft hum, the younger closed his eyes, exhaling as the water lapped up under him, a reminder of where they were.

"Remember?"
He repeated, breaking out of the daze a bit. He looked up at Hymn for a few long moments, before his lips quirked into a slight smile. "I remember you." He admitted, raising his fingers to press warmly against the hand on his arm. "Its been such a long time though, Hymn." He murmured, looking at the sea for a moment and then at the other yet again, his storm gray hair blown away from his face. Dual grey eyes danced with mirth, a happiness that was still trying to be understood.

He wondered if this was what it was like to see a friend again after so many days - months even? - away from home.

Whatever feeling this was, he didn't mind it. Instead he thanked the heavens for it.

They were back in his apartment with in a few moments of the realization. The siren felt a weight lifted off of his chest as he took a seat on the balcony chairs. His body relaxed and his eyes rolled in an amusing manner. "It has been a long time Krinn." he swiveled a wine glass filled with soda as talked, "Do you have any clue who blocked your memory?"

His question as sincere, even as his own eyes grew heavy from surplus amounts of exhaustion. Taking a drink of the carbonated beverage he shook as the fluid swam down his throat. Pulling from his pocket a notebook and another few objects, he allowed himself to slouch in the comfortable chair.

"Come join me, sit, and relax." he offered, holding out a sparkling glass for the other. It was a nice, sweet, drink that kept him awake for prolonged periods of time. He had discovered the beverage on one of his many journeys to Helena. It was what many of the women used while they worked, so they could extend the work day longer than average.

He had to admit, the town was a wise place, and full of even wiser inventions. Taking another sip of the drink he smiled with a prolonged sigh."I really would like to find myself some time to just enjoy the ocean-" he mused, the cup tipping slightly in his grasp.

Hymn was honest when he claimed that never before had he been swimming in the cool ocean water. He didn't know what to expect from the raincloud dust when he said that he never had, however, he just listened to what the other had to say.

It was good to hear his voice.
