An Important Lesson

Characters: Aren & Lemon
Setting: Late afternoon in a moderately populated area in between a line of houses and the docks of Amies

It was the middle of the day, the sun still lending its light and casting a warm veil on the city of Amies but at the same time, getting ready to retreat. The atmosphere grew quieter as the people gathered their belongings, closing up their stores and packing up for the day and desiring rest for a good day's work. The sky was lightly tinged with a bright orange color, the colors mixing in harmony.

Aren had just started to come out of an isolated area in the docks where he was hiding. If possible, the mature dust did not go into the city when the citizens were most active, selling their wares, shouting to the people, luring them into 'great' deals while the children laughed and played, carelessly running in the busy crowds. It was not that the dust hated humans but it was because he liked to take extreme caution in protecting his appearance.

The goddess Aevah had once told him, as the leader of the dusts he must be epitome of power and devotion while not exposing his identity to many, even the guardians of the young dusts. He did not really like to be labeled as the leader of the dusts because he knew that he wasn't very deserving of that title. He sighed, bringing his thin, pale blue hands in front of him. He had to become stronger to rival the demons and protect the little ones. But Aren didn't doubt the goddess Aevah. He believed the goddess had a specific plan for him and knowing that he would be useful was enough for him to press on.

He walked with light and swift steps, a dark brown hood covering his whole body and face, letting his unique complexion remain unseen to the few people who were still at the docks. There were many new and confused dusts that he hadn't met yet and they were unaware of the potential they had within them. And that was why Aren was here, searching for another dust child that he knew was to be near.
