BEST FRIENDS FOREVER?
Location: Siren's Shore
Weather: Downpour but thinning clouds on the horizon.
Participants: Krinn & Cadaver

Cadaver's feet moved at speeds he had never been used to before. Slipping through shrubs and other marsh parts of the land in a hurried pace to get to the shores. He hated being cooped up in the house all the time and though he and Sable were on better terms now it was nothing like the relationship he had with Krinn. At this rate he would lose his mind if he didn't begin a search for the other dust. He had to start in town, maybe ask questions put up fliers anything would help but just sit around and wait.

It was horrible to say the least neither Cada or Sable knew how to cook well and even with the cook book in hand they had failed miserably. Eating what little they could make edible at the time.

For the teen he had grown tired and restless, almost to the point of a growing rage. Why was he gone? Why had he left? Didn't he even like them any more? Running until his feet gave out, the teen dust fell to the marsh flooring, pounding at the soft mud that was gathering around him. Frustrated tears dripped down his cheeks as he pushed himself back to his feet heading for the cliffs. It was here that he always went to think, this was his place of solace his place to lash out at anything that angered him and right now he was angry at his best friend for leaving him without a word.

A screamed ripped across the sky as the crashing waves drowned out the sound of a friend's broken heart. Finally sitting, Cadaver managed to regain himself, just enough to realize that he was missing not just one but two very close friends. And while one was gone of his own free will the other had been misplaced. Without his two buddies the teen dust simply felt lost. Like the child without his favorite toy (literally even), he simply knew not what to do with himself. "Krinn." The soft whimper was all he could muster as he curled his knees under himself and simply sat there glaring at the endless ocean horizon.

Rain, rain, go away...

Where was he? Dual eyes opened, a soundless whine escaping the dusts throat. His bare feet touched down on frigid, slippery rock, his mind up in the clouds. Rain slid over him, licking and touching at the skin that was frozen yet felt just right. But for some reason he was restless. Krinn glared half heartedly out at the ocean, his hands wrapped tightly around his middle. He couldn't even properly say where he'd gone off to. This place was supposed to be familiar, a safe haven, a place of memories, but it only pressed more and more questions into Krinn's mind. It was frustrating, it was terrifying.
Will you ever give them back? The dust looked up at the sky, as if begging for an answer. Thunder crackled in return, and the wind picked up, the sea restless and the waves crashing soundlessly against the rocky cliffs. His head was hurting again, trying desperately to search for any clue as to where he was supposed to start, where he was supposed to go.

But there was nothing but rain and dead ends.

Krinn scowled, his lips drawn into a thin line as he moved forward again, slipping out of the one sleeve of the half kimono and letting it hang around his waist.
"I'm not going to play with you," He told the rain under his breath. It just crackled in a mock sort of threat. From early on, the dust had known that he'd had an affinity with rain. The other dust - Hymn, was it? - had told him as much. But even though he'd been tied by essence to it, he still knew its dangerous, temperamental tones. Just like his own. Just like him. One in the same, A voice whispered in cruelty. The dust winced. He'd taken no memories with him when he'd woken up again, only the voice that continued to croon to him about the rain and its ability to wash everything away. The sky hummed from above him, threatening even more downpour. The dust grimaced, setting in place for a minute. He was about to give up and go home. This wasn't worth it anymore. He was getting nowhere. He was more frustrated then ever!

A scream stopped him in his tracks. It was mostly drowned out by the torrential downpour and the crashing waves, but it was there, carried by the high winds and the rain. The dusts head snapped up. Was someone here? Who would be here in such bad weather? Krinn frowned and moved towards the cliffs, his steps picking up until he was almost running. He didn't know his way to where anything was, but through sheer dumb luck, he followed what he'd heard, the rain brushing and stinging his cheeks, telling him to ignore it, to come and play. Out of breath, the other reached the cliffs higher above the sea, and for a moment, he lost his breath, taking in the view. But his eyes were drawn to what he'd been pulled towards, a person on his knees. Something ached inside of him at the sight. What could bring a person to this kind of state in this kind of place? A familiar tug pulled at his chest, but his emotions, out of control and out of order, stopped him from contemplating them with perfect ease.

The downpour did not cease, and in the rain, he watched from far away as the other curled his knees under him and sat, his back turned to the dust. For a few moments, Krinn considered turning around, walking away. He was about to too, when he heard a familiar name on those lips. His heart felt constricted, his mind hazy with a memory on the tip of his tongue that disappeared before he could grab hold of it. Who was this person...? Why did he know him? Better yet, why did this feel different from all of the others he'd met so far? The rain bit his tongue. Carefully, he stepped forward, closing the gap between the back of the teen and himself. Circling around the other, fingers grazing in a ghost touch over the others back and shoulder as if to alert him of another presence, the dust bent down, blocking out the others view of the ocean, dual colored eyes looking restlessly at the person before him. He couldn't think of words. No, not yet.

That skin, those eyes... Something pounded in his chest, a familiar sensation. But every time he got close to an answer, it slipped away. From above, the rain persisted, splattering against him and the stranger and begging for attention. With a slight growl, Krinn turned his eyes skyward.
"Stop that!" The clouds above gave an angry rumble, but soon enough, the rain began to lighten. It would come back, and come back soon, because Krinn couldn't control something stronger than himself. But for now, it gave him some time to think clearly, and to talk to this stranger he should have known.

There was far too much to process at times like these like how the weather just seemed to tease the teen. He had learned early in his young dust life the difference between a regular down pour and one that was brought on by a familiar brooding dust. For Cada he just sat there wishing he could figure out ways to find his friend. He gave up wondering what had caused him to leave in the first place. Some itching part of his mind stabbed at the though of his outward appearance but remembering back to a time in a certain bathroom he shook those thoughts away swiftly. No. Krinn was never so sallow. There had to be something behind it.

The tears that streamed down the teens face was thankfully disguised by the rain. He wouldn't be here long just long enough to sort through his thoughts, get his cheerful face back on and stay strong for Sable's sake (not that she needed it) but it helped them both push on and think of better times. Maybe their friend simply wasn't coming--

With a slight jolt Cada lifted his head eyes swimming with tears and rain. He could barely see what was in front of him with this person blocking his view of the horizon. Brushing violently at his eyes he cleared his vision and blinked. Again clearing his vision he blinked again unable to register his lost friends sudden appearance. Like an explosion went off in his head it ceased all functions. With the sudden outburst from Krinn, Cadaver suddenly came to his sense only to blink one last time before grabbing a hand full of hair as gently as he could and bringing him closer to give the raincloud dust a soft gentle kiss on the lip. He let the other go for a moment watching him carefully almost as if testing this sudden apparition before him. Testing to see if he were under some siren's spell or even hallucinating. There just couldn't be any possible way Krinn --his Krinn -- were here!

Who are you, who are you, who are you. The words ran soundly through his head; a train of thought he couldn't get rid of. He knew this person, he had to. It was on the tip of his tongue, begging for him to find the answer. But he couldn't, could he? Not even a name came to mind, much less a memory. His gut twisted painfully. Once again, this wasn't how it was supposed to go. The white wall was supposed to break, he was supposed to recall whatever had happened between this stranger and him in the past. A hot, stinging note of irritation played in his mind, making his shoulders slump a bit as he continued to eye the stranger in slight fascination, the rain licking and kissing his cheeks, his tank top soaked through and his hair sticking in places to his skin. It felt homey, but at the same time, it felt foreign and strange.

A part of him wanted to brush the water away from the others face. It felt like an old habit of his, but he couldn't recall a time when he'd done it. How come this person had called his name, and why? What had he done? Or... had he disappeared for too long, upset this other person? Watching Cada carefully, Krinn couldn't help but press his lips into a thin line, his expression reflective and unreadable.
Give me something, anything, He begged this stranger in the rain. Tell me what I've been missing. But he knew that wasn't possible, not when this person probably hadn't seen him in god only knew how long. His mind froze though, when hands reached forward, not for his face, but for his hair, and pulled him forward. Letting out a soft yelp, the rain was silenced entirely by a soft press of lips.

Eyes widening, Krinn stared at the boy as he pulled back, his entire mind on meltdown before suddenly jumping back up. Cheeks reddening to that of a tomatoes, the boy caught himself falling off balance and tries to keep himself steady, but instead fell into the other boy, feeling himself swell even more with embarrassment. His eyes flickering widely to the other, barely even noticing how close they were.
"C-Cada! Wha - what was that f-for?" He said above the rain, staring at the other in embarrassment. It was only a few moments later that he realized he'd called out a foreign name, but one that felt familiar. Where had that come from?! The dusts breath hitched, a hand reaching to tug and run restlessly through the hair that had been pulled. Letting it drop again, Krinn felt his head swarm with questions. Looking at the strange boy again, the rain felt his throat constrict. Still, no memories came. Not yet.

"Cada...?"
Was that the others name? What if it was wrong? But Krinn still wanted to try it out, taste it on his tongue. He wanted to know who this boy was, and what he'd been to the other. If anything at all. But that kiss... just what was going on here?

Cada couldn't help the reaction that came from the kiss as always Krinn couldn't be more girly then that. Always blushing when you poked fun at him even his silly attempts at treating the raincloud dust as a girl had brought the dust to squeal out his name without his knowing it. "I'm Cada." He repeated nodding happily before bringing Krinn into a close hug the two of them still spilled out over the marsh land. For some reason the pestilence dust felt something was off though, that his friend was having a hard time understanding perhaps.

Sitting up and bringing Krinn with him he kept hold of the other for comfort nuzzling his friend really close. "You know you've been missing for a long time. I can't remember when but it seems none of us can remember that far back either." Sighing he let the raincloud dust free sitting quietly as the rain fell around them. "Whatever it was that made us forget that time was the reason for your disappearance. But I don't care why it happened or how. I just really want you to come home Krinn. We miss you... I miss you." It was true he'd been a complete wreck without his best friend. Unable to talk to the other about things that bothered him, he had to come to the shores often and scream at the endless horizon for keeping the secret of his friend's location.

It was a sheer fluke that Krinn would just suddenly waltz into his life again but whatever the case he wouldn't send the boy away. "Please, Krinn, just say you'll come home. We kept you're room clean too! I didn't touch anything just dusted and changed your sheets for you and stuff. Just come and see." He pleaded. Wondering somehow had the teen found another life outside of this one while he was away. If he had this would pose an interesting and rather frustrating problem. Cada was a brat by nature he wouldn't let Krinn just leave without a fight but maybe if that was the life Krinn preferred, would he [Krinn] at least attempt to remain friends with him.

As the other told him his name once more, confirmed it, Krinn felt himself sink into questions as the rain let up. He felt it licking restlessly at him, chiding him that this boy wasn't important. But he was, wasn't he? The storm tried not to frown, his head aching but not exactly done in. His idea of resisting was soon cut off by the dust's hug. Startled a bit, Krinn gave a small yelp, his hands lifting as if to push Cada away. Soon enough though, they simply found themselves resting on the others shoulders in a half-hug, not sure what the right thing to do was. His eyes lowering, Krinn contemplated this new, sticky information. He pressed his lips together, his cheeks warm even as cool liquid slid down them, licking and kissing.

Listening through the others well worn words, Krinn closed his eyes, willing himself to remember, if only a bit. Voices and nameless figures showed up in the dark, but he was driven away from the ghost of a memory when the other nuzzled him, and then let him go. Everything seemed to be going by so fast, the world was spinning and he was desperately trying to keep up.
"Hold on," He said suddenly, after Cada had finished talking. His head ached and he felt sick. "Y-you're telling me that I... what?" Rubbing at his head, the storm tried to ease the information in. Just how much did he not know? Looking up at the other dust, Krinn's mouth formed around the only words he knew. "How long have I been missing for?"

When the other told him to come home, the storm felt something seize in him. Fractured images, a house he felt was familiar. A girl dressed in blues and pinks, a man with gold and black hair... His breath caught in his throat, his head thundering with new information, new memories, new questions.
"I'll come home." He murmured finally, his breath catching. What was home exactly? What did it look like, feel like? Who was there? Who was waiting? What would Suika say, if anything? They'd agreed to travel together until he'd found his past, but what if this was it right here? "But... I dont remember much." He said finally, his hands brushing against the stone he sat on with Cada. "I dont remember... anything at all really." He offered a slight, apologetic smile to the dust. A hand ran nervously through his hair. "'m sorry, Cada." He said, even though the name was still foreign. Eyes diverting to the dreary forecast, Krinn exhaled gently. Vague memories drifted in and out. Cada was a friend right? His cheeks tinged red at some of them.

He wanted the other to take him home. But would he, if he knew that Krinn was only beginning to remember?

The pestilence teen seemed to fold on himself, almost deflating as if defeated by this new bit of information. So Krinn didn't remember much if anything at all. That meant he didn't even know who he was of all people... but then how did he remember his name so easily? With a defeated sad sigh he sat up petting Krinn's shoulder. "I'm sorry." He said softly standing to his feet and stretching out. He hadn't known the other was without memories so all that information was probably a bit much. Even though he had been sad for a brief moment a winning smile etched across his dark features as he held out a hand. "Come with me. Sable isn't home right now so you can at least see the place. Maybe something will jog your memory." It was worth a shot. Cada wasn't a doctor of heads, he didn't know any tricks of the trade to get Krinn to remember and if the boy didn't want to then it was probably for the best.

Whether Krinn wanted to remember or not wouldn't stop the pestilence dust. He was -- for all instances -- like a virus. Once you became his friend he wouldn't let go, not for anything in the world. There simply was no cure for the common Cada. Krinn could make his own choices and follow his own path but Cada was certain to chip a little notch in his friends new life if only to salvage someone he treasured dearly. "I'm sorry I don't know how long you've been gone. We've managed though so it's okay, we just really missed you." Thinking a moment he shrugged then looked out over the horizon. After a brief moment he escorted Krinn to their home, the whole time he remained silent only looking back ever so often to make sure the raincloud dust was following.

When they did arrive at the modest home, he smiled and led the way inside, showing him a few odds and ends before showing him to his room. "Here you go." He said, handing over the key that would unlock a lot of memories... only Cada hoped so. "We kept it locked so guests wouldn't get nosy or mess with your things. I can leave you alone if you'd like to explore privately?" It was the least he could do, if Krinn had questions then he'd answer them however best he could otherwise he'd remain silently in the doorway.

He was ill at ease under that kind of look. "Its not your fault," He protested avidly when the other apologized. "Dont apologize, please, Cada." At the mention of Sable, Krinn blinked, lifting himself as well to his full height, pony tail swaying, heavy and thick with rainwater. Sable... it sounded familiar. Distractedly, the teen padded along after the other. Sable... the... pink and blue haired girl? The rain closed his eyes, imagining her fuzzy image in his head. Opening his eyes, he looked up at the Pestilence dust, his eyes flickering for a moment. "I hope so." He said softly, wondering just how his memory might be jogged. He wanted to remember. He wanted to remember everything. Feeling a shiver ride his spine, the rain dodged around puddles that reflected the sky, distractedly watching the ground as Cada led him along.

Watching as the other escorted him home, talking about how 'they'd' managed to survive, Krinn brushed a hand through his hair.
"I take it I cooked for you, yeah?" He asked with a small smile. He remembered just how grouchy he could get when cooking, especially when Suika tried to help. Or the vague memory of the gold and black haired man - Lan...? - teaching him how to cook in the apartment. Apartment... Krinn glanced up as he was led to the house, the appearance of it threatening to break the barrier in his mind, but not quite. The floorboards creaked softly under his weight as he followed Cada, his eyes trailing over the halls and living room, what seemed to be the opening to the kitchen, what seemed to be memories waiting patiently for him to brush upon. Brushing his fingers over the key given, Krinn turned his eyes to the door that led to his bedroom.

"So, its the same as when I left...?"
He questioned distractedly, pushing the key into the hole and unlocking the door. Looking over at Cada, he shook his head, walking into the room. "Its fine, I'd like it if you stayed." Turning his eyes, the rain moved into the room that used to be his own. Inhaling deeply, he closed his eyes, feeling memories tickle the back of his mind in a tease. They were blurry though, far away and muddled. With a soft sigh, he opened them again, hand brushing against the drawer dressed in trinkets and memoirs. A lantern from somewhere far away, a few empty bottles that looked like they'd been washed up from the sea. Letters and old, torn photographs and images. Each of them chipped and picked at the wall in his mind, slowly working away images and scenes.

Suddenly, his fingers grazed an old hairband. The blue and green beads shone in the dim light, and picking it off the drawer, the dust examined them, his eyes flickering. It had been a present, his memories said. Long ago, by the chef who'd taken care of him. He winced a bit as his head pounded, new information and questions pouring in before he had time to breathe. A bathroom, Cada... himself, this house. One by one, the memories filtered in, brief and finicky at first, only solidifying into what he knew and loved in the past once he grabbed and held it tightly. Slipping his fingers through the stretchy material, Krinn let it slide loosely onto his wrist, watching as it glittered. His eyes felt moist, and his head pounded, but at the same time it was so nice!

Grazing the beads again, Krinn sighed and turned his eyes to Cada, holding it for a long moment. Nervously, his feet slid forward, until he was in front of him. Reaching his hands out, he tentatively grazed the others arms before yanking him into a hug, his nose buried into the others shoulder, his cheeks hot red. He vaguely heard himself mumbling I'm sorry over and over again, before his voice caught.
"I remember - some of it, most of it - I remember... I'm sorry, Cada for being gone so long." His voice caught again, and he let the other dust go, staring awkwardly at the floorboards. "I missed you - I miss you - and Sable... a-and I'm sorry." He couldn't say it enough. Why had he forgotten? Repressed memories, the doctor had suggested. Or at least, an extreme version if it. But now he was remembering, wasn't he? That was a start.

He prayed that Cada would forgive him. He remembered those days with the other, but they seemed so far away. Just how long was he gone? Long enough. Long enough...

For a moment Cada didn't know what to do or say. He had been resolved to just stand there looking silly but then he couldn't help wrapping the other in a gentle hug, tears threatening to spill from the Krinn's mantra of apologizes. "Silly don't say that you had no control over what happened to you..." Squeezing Krinn tightly he nuzzled the other to give him comfort it didn't make sense for him to apologize but if it made him feel better... "Silly silly Krinn please don't cry you're safe that's all that matters. I'm just so happy you're safe." When the other dust let go Cada followed suit watching Krinn stare at the floorboards. He looked like a little kid being reprimanded by his parents. It was so different from any other image he'd had of the raincloud dust.

Sighing softly Cada wrapped him in another hug, gentle and kind. "Don't worry about it. Just do your best not to forget us next time okay?" It was a silly request from a childish dust but he couldn't help hoping it was possible. "And even if you do forget I'll be right here to kiss you over and over again until you remember all of us again!" And to prove his point the pestilence dust did just that, a gentle kiss to the raincloud's forehead was all he needed to reassure himself and his friend that they would be okay.

Once he felt settled and less jumpy, Cada slipped away looking around the room. It had been some time since he last opened these doors. Too afraid that he'd never see his friend again he had insisted that they lock everything away. Just in case... but it was more to preserve his friend's presence in the house. Even if he had not returned keeping a part of Krinn was what mattered most for Cada. With a smile he turned to Krinn with his usual exuberant eyes and curious arch of a brow. "Sooo... what have you been up to while you were away? Did you go on any adventures, meet knew people? Oh! Do you have a girlfriend now! Was that it.. you ran off to elope and bumped your head in the process so forgot about us!" Leave it to Cada to make up wild stories.
