Thank you for this post. I am a mother a 3yr old little girl and reading that was helpful.


I struggle with some things under the realm of "Honor your mother and father". How does a child/teenager honor the parent who beats them, molests them, or degrades them with words? Or how does the child/teenager honor the parent who just lays on the couch and buries their head in the sand or knows the wrong going on but won't leave because it's their only means of income?

It's hard for a teenager, who may have Christian influence in his life or even to be saved and attends church, that lives in a home of parents who refuse the word of God. How do they continue to honor their parents when the parents wishes go against God's will?

I know that as a person grows in their walk with the Lord they learn how to forgive others and themselves for things, but often times that is something children and teenagers don't understand. How do you help connect the dots of forgiveness and freedom to the child/teenager who has the secret pain of it all riding on their shoulders?


*EDIT - in no way is this a rant or defiance to the commandment to honor your mother and father. These are just simple questions that run in my head. That I decided to just let out here.
