I really don't read comic books/graphic novels, and I've never been interested in manga/anime until I was introduced to the series Fairy Tail. Honestly, I only checked it out because my friend made a Guild, and I thought they misspelled "fairy tale." rofl So really I'm just wondering anyone else has even heard of it, because I've met some fans in the oddest places on Gaia.

Feel free to bring up whatever you want about the series, even if it's a reason why you hate it! XD

Short topic is short. v.v

My buddy drag0ntamer says it's awesome, even more so than Soul Eater. I haven't read it though, so I can't verify that statement.

The anime is on Crunchyroll (YAY CR!!!) so I might watch it there - cuz, see, personally, I prefer anime over manga because I read so friggin fast that I have trouble pacing myself so that I actually enjoy what I'm reading.

I can't verify any statement comparing it to other mangas/animes, because I haven't read any others. whee I find it pretty cool though. It's surprisingly moving at times as well, something I wasn't expecting once I read that it was marketed primarily to boys (Wikipedia told me that's what "Shonen" means XP). I know what you mean about pacing yourself. I read like from Chapter 1 to 50 in one night. gonk

AH! I read this one, among others. I too can attest to reading it that fast. But now I have to wait for the weekly updates.

It looks a little like One Piece, I think?

I love this manga! It's really cute and funny. So far the real plot is slowly being revealed. I'm already at the edge of my seat, hawk eying the weekly update. xd

kiimiichie: I think the developers are the same? I'm not sure about it. I do know that Rave: Groove Adventure and Fairy Tale had the same developers though.

Yay more fans! I've never read/watched One Piece, but I have seen pictures of it, and it looks kinda similar to me. I know some people harp on Fairy Tail for that, but I can only think, "Does that really matter?" XD

I've really liked the story and characters, though I feel the Edolas arc was carried on a little far. I understand that they have deadlines and probably couldn't mash it all into one chapter like they might have when the series first started (later chapters seem to get shorter to me, though I could be hallucinating XD), but everyone in my Guild was like, "OMG YES IT'S FINALLY OVER." They really dove into the next arc fast, and so I'm eagerly awaiting the weekly update as well! Even more so because they introduced that new guy out of nowhere, who's apparently good enough to be considered for S Class and been with the Guild for at least a year. eek

Woah, it's been a while since anyone posted in this thread. So... any thoughts about Fairy Tail, now? I think it's still pretty strong and can't wait to see what'll happen to Cana. I know, she's not really the main focus or anything at the moment, but the fact that she put herself above her guild can't help but make me wonder at what's going to happen to her 3nodding .

I've read quite a bit of it and I'm not so impressed. If you really want to read something by this author then definitely go with One Piece. The style is much better and the characters have more depth. Fairy tale was okay, but I don't really recommend that you spend any time on it.

One Piece, Fairy Tale, and Rave Masters are all drawn by the same mangaka (author). One Piece is by far the most popular and developed of the three. I believe Rave Masters might even be complete by now, but I'm not so sure about Fairy Tale. One Piece has hit its 600th chapter.

Wait, what? I knew that Fairy Tale and Rave Master were by the same author, but One Piece as well? How is that possible? Both One Piece and Fairy Tale are ongoing and they both come out on a weekly basis. I don't think there's enough time in a week to do both at the same time eek ...?

... Yay~! More fans~

Yes, Fairy Tail is awesome. I love it. I can't compare it to any other shonen manga--the reason being that I never read any other shonen manga. xd

People say that Fairy Tail and One Piece have similar styles--though I can't tell since I've never read One Piece before--making them think that both mangas were created by the same author or Fairy Tail is just a copy of One Piece.

In truth, Fairy Tail and One Piece have different authors. Mashima Hiro is the author of both Fairy Tail and Rave Master. Eiichiro Oda is the author of One Piece.

The reason as to why their styles are so similar is what I am not sure of. Others say that they were influenced by Akira Toriyama, author of Dragon Ball Z. Some even say that they have helped each other in the past.

... still, I think (even though I've never read the other manga) both mangas have their own unique style to entertain the readers, no matter how similar they may be.
