So, there's this poetry contest in... four days. I'm not sure if I can still enter, but I'm not sure if I want to enter. It's not a submission thing, it's a stand up and read in front of everyone in the lobby thing. > < Said lobby is usually somewhat packed even when nothing is going on.
If I do end up trying to enter... well, I'd like advice on whether I can actually write decent poetry, I'm not asking if I'd have a chance to win (cash prizes) I just want to know if I'd humiliate myself if I read this. Does it sound angsty? Have you ever been to a live poetry reading? I'd like to read aloud, but I'm rather jittery about how people will respond.
Wait.
Quick and slow; We arrived so long ago, Watching the movement of the bow "Love is watching someone die," cried the dying one. It's a dance no one can participate in. "Love is waiting for you, even after you've gone," stated the angry one. We shift in our seats, And the tempo picks up. We look to our toes. The tempo dies down. We smile without comfort. The song breaks into the chorus. As the rest of us are left alone, We tighten our fists in our laps.
