How to Set Up Your Home

The Basics:

-Home may not be posted until the Family living in the home has been accepted.
-All home threads must follow a basic format, though they can be personalized as the creator sees fit.

Thread Requirements:

-Homes should be made with three posts fulfilling the following requirements before they become a roleplaying space:

The first post should include:
- The name of the family living there, linked to their family profile thread
-- Alternatively, each individual resident's profile can be linked in the second post
- The location of the home within the British Isles
-- If, for whatever reason, the home is ‘Unplottable,’ it may be listed as such, but this is only allowed under certain circumstances, those being:
--- That the home belongs to an affluent member of the Wizarding World
--- That the home belongs to an important member of the Ministry
--- That the home belongs to a powerful Dark Witch or Wizard
--- That the home is meant to be used as a ‘safehouse’ for a character in hiding (this use will require a Plot Request)
- A description or pictures depicting the house

The second post should include:
- The name of each person currently living in the home, including a link to their profile if this is not provided on the first post
-- NPC characters should be labeled as such as they are not included in the resident list for the thread
- Their current location (home, school, work, etc…)

The third post should include:
- Anything of note about the home, such as spare bedrooms, a brief history, etc….
- Any pets or magical creatures living in the home, or in the area

Making Your Thread:

- Create your thread. Make sure that it meets all the above requirements.
- Fill out the form on the first post of the Who Lives Where thread and quote Cara MiaKitty to have it added to the list
- Quote Cara MiaKitty with an updated form whenever changes need to be made.
- Have fun roleplaying in your character's home thread!

Roleplaying:

Occupied Homes: Occupied Homes (homes which currently have a family living in them) are not open roleplaying locations. In order to roleplay in someone’s home, one must get permission from the thread creator or a member of the family. This includes situations where the occupants would not be expecting anyone, such as a surprise visit or a robbery.

Unoccupied Locations: A thread may be created in the Private Homes subforum that is not a private home under certain circumstances, primarily if the location is meant to be a former home of historical significance or a tourist attraction within the British Isles that is only visible or of interest to the Wizarding Community. Under these circumstances, the home should follow the usual format, with a few changes:
-- There should be no family profile link, since no family lives there
--The second post should include the history of the home, why it is of significance, information about the history of the family who lived there or built the home, etc…
--The third post is optional and can include anything of interest about the home that was not discussed in the history, such as if it is haunted, if there are interesting rumors about it, if a person could rent a room or stay the night, etc…
-- These locations should be requested before they are posted. The Private Homes Manager (Cara MiaKitty) should be PMed to discuss the possibility of creating one of these locations.

Removing Homes:

By Choice of Creator: Should the creator of a house thread wish to remove their thread, the Private Homes Manager (Cara MiaKitty) should be notified via PM. The home may be removed for any reason, although it is recommended that it not be unless the family living there is deceased or becomes inactive. The thread title should be changed to, ‘Please Remove,’ and it will be removed when the Private Homes Manager does the next sweep.

During the Sweep: The Sweep is a semi-regular event (occurring during the second month of each school term) where the Private Homes Manager will go through the Private Home Threads and remove any which fit the following parameters:
- Created by someone who is no longer a guild member
- Home to a family who is no longer active and is not ‘Abandoned’ or in use
- Home to a family which is deceased and is not ‘Abandoned’ or in use
- Is labelled as Under Construction (U/C) for more than six months (two years in guild)

Homes will also be placed on a Pending Removal list if they do not follow the requirements for home threads. The creator of the thread will be notified and will have until the next sweep to update. At that time, the thread will be checked and if it has not been edited to follow the requirements it will be removed. The creator may PM the Private Homes Manager (Cara MiaKitty) to have the thread reinstated, but they will only have two weeks to update it to follow the requirements or it will be removed again.

Updates will be in red.
