Has anyone else heard of Lillith?
Supposedly God created Lillith first but she wouldn't have sex on her back or something like that. I think that was it; it was briefly mentioned in my anthropology class.

Is this something that the feminists came up with or something?

Sorry, I meant before Eve. Adam was first.
Lillith had not wanted to submit to Adam or whatnot so then God created Eve.

It's obviously not in the Bible (at least not in any of the ones I have read) but I just wondered how many others have heard about this.

Well if it's not in the Bible then how on Earth did they come up with it?
I think it's a lie.

She is a myth. There is no historical or scriptural evidences to back up her existence...atleast none that are credible.

That's what I thought. Do you know how, when or why she suddenly 'popped' into 'existence'?

I haven't done much research into the origin of her story or why it came into existence. It'd certainly be an interesting thing to look into though.

I saw some things on her a while back. I think she was demoness used to scare Hebrew children...the legend goes that she was created with Adam which is why it seems like there are two different creation accounts in Genesis. When she didn't want to submit to Adam, God cast her out of the Garden and created Eve...actually I just looked up the wiki. You'll probably find everything you need to know there, and it's more accurate than the information off the top of my head.

I had never heard of her until this post actually, but reading through some sites to me this just seems silly... something man made. There is no scripture to back this up and all the things I just read all say it's mythical.

I have no doubt she's not real but it's good to know about her like it's good to know about Prometheus or other mythical beings/creatures; as references in certain things like poetry and literature.

As far as my research has gone, Lilith is just Jewish folklore, written only in the Babylonian texts of the Talmud.
