Suspension Bridge Entrance



"The Suspension Bridge entrance is a part of Hogwarts Castle. It is a little building located near Gryffindor Tower on one side of The Quad. The Suspension Bridge Towers are located on either side and it overlooks the Suspension Bridge.

It is a large entrance room, but it is not the main entrance hall. The large archway leads to the Suspension Bridge, while the Suspension Bridge staircase leads to the Third floor corridor."

Ariana followed her friend, Katrina Varren, out of the Trophy Room and to the Suspension Bridge Entrance. I haven't been here, yet, she thought, remembering the few times she explored the castle. The first day, she came upon Steele playing guitar and singing in the Gardens. She suddenly froze in her steps, remembering the masked figure.

What am I thinking? Hm... I wonder what...oof!

Katrina wasn't paying attention to where she was walking, her mind wrapped up in the possible adventures that her and Ariana could get into out here. That was why she didn't notice when Ariana stopped and Kat walked right into her, bumping her nose into Ari's head. "Oof!" she said loudly and fell to her butt. Rubbing her back, she started laughing.

Ariana abruptly turned around when Katrina bumped into her. "Are you okay?" she asked, sticking her hand out to help her friend up. At this moment, Ariana forgot what she was thinking about, and instead, focused on the fact that her best friend was sitting on the ground. She couldn't possibly be hurt because she was laughing, but it still seemed like it hurt.

Kat took Ariana's hand and got to her feet, brushing her butt off. "I'm fine. That was funny," she said, still chuckling. She looked out at the suspension bridge extending before them. "Guess I need to pay more attention. It's really long, isn't it?" she asked, still looking at the bridge.

Ariana helped Katrina up, laughing a bit. "Yeah, it was," she said, trying to stop herself from letting another giggle out. Looking out on the long bridge, she sighed. "Yeah. I can't believe this school is so big!" she exclaimed, still overwhelmed by her surroundings.

Kat moved over to where the bridge started and looked out, down all the way to the ground. "Did you know, during the Battle of Hogwarts, this bridge was destroyed by Seamus Finnegan and Neville Longbottom. A lot of bad guys died when the bridge came down. Of course, it's safe now, rebuilt when Hogwarts was repaired following the battle." She smirked, proud of her knowledge of the battle. She felt a little like a Ravenclaw for that rambling explanation.

Ariana followed Katrina to the beginning of the bridge. She stared out to the other end of it while her friend spoke about its past. "No, I didn't know that," she said with a smirk. I would not fit in the Ravenclaw house, she thought. Well, that's why I'm in Hufflepuff!" She let out a small laugh when the last thought went through her brain.

The taller girl leaned against one of the posts of the bridge and heaved a heavy sigh. "You grew up in the Muggle world, right? It must have been so awesome. I got so little a taste of it. When I'm old enough, I want to move out of my parents house and live in the Muggle world. So many awesome things. Television... CD players... the Internet. It's just... I feel so restricted. And I don't want to go back. Ever," she said, sinking to the floor.

Ariana looked at Katrina, bewildered. "The wizarding world doesn't have internet?!" she asked, wondering how anyone could live without it. Maybe it's just her family that didn't get it, she thought, remembering how Katrina said her parents shunned anything that was muggle related.

She nodded then shrugged. "I mean, some Wizarding families have computers and Internet and televisions, but not my family. They considered themselves above using Muggle technology. So, I was forced to live in that world. I'd sneak out to my neighbor's house to watch television or go on the computer." She sighed again and stood up. "Want to walk across the bridge?"

Ariana stared out across the bridge as she listened to Katrina. "It's getting kinda late. I think I'll head to bed," she confessed, feeling tired. "See you tomorrow!" she said, giving Katrina a hug before heading to the Hufflepuff Common Room.

On her weekly walk around the castle and grounds, Eve started to walk across the bridge. She was looking at the ground as it went by, unnecessarily as always. People usually did that when they were shy or clumsy, and Eve was hardly either. She jumped as a crumpled ball of paper passed by her shoe, and she looked up to see where it came from. Her eyes met Edd Meridith, and her eyes narrowed in wondering. He looked upset, and even though she had never talked to him before she approached him slowly. When she reached him, she stopped and stood up straight.
"What's wrong?" she asked simply, pulling back her hair so it didn't keep blowing in her face.
