Yama / きらきら (“Kira Kira”) Yama (Sanskrit pronunciation!) & kira kira (きらきら) (To sparkle like jewelry or glittery clothes)
likes to cripple and maim the wings of angeni in order to humiliate and weaken their kind as a whole. his goal isn't to outright kill others (though, like all walkers, there are opportunities where he just can't help himself...). oh, no. stealing that gift of flight and knowing that he's responsible for those individuals having to spend the rest of their days miserable and suffering, yearning for something they will never have again? that is his primary goal, that is what brings him the greatest joy (well, as much joy as a walker can feel lmao). doesn't really care about other types of wings (ex: winds, flutters, kalona, etc.), but won't object to harming them either, should they happen to cross his path. the wings of holy angeni are his main target; all injuries delivered by him outside of that are viewed as a failure no matter how crippling or serious the injury is, and he hates to fail. wings or nothing babyyy. he tends to feel disappointment, of all things, when victims of his meet an early demise. disappointment gives way to frustration when fellow walkers (especially family oh my goood) "steal his victim." he wants to bear witness to their prolonged suffering, not receive the instant satisfaction that a quick kill might bring...
Yama will also seethe after a failed mission, recklessly training until his paws are bleeding, his muscles ache, and he's left absolutely exhausted. failure means that something was done wrong on his part, and he will not stand by like some pathetic cub and continue down that path. all of his failed attempts are placed on a list, one he plans to revisit in the future; if he doesn't destroy his victim's wings the first time, he will the second time or die trying. #LiveLaughDESTROY-ALL-BIRBS #OtherMotivationalCatQuotes
Yama is a complex creature: a prime example of a purewalker in some eyes, a failure in others. Inheriting his mother’s cunning nature and the relentless drive of his Elder father, Yama is truly a deadly predator... who has decided to take things at his own pace. He feels no need to rush in life - he, and he alone, will decide when things happen. No one will force his hand, and all decisions shall be his own. Now, some may be bold enough to call this “laziness” or “lack of motivation” on his part, but Yama is firm in the fact that this is simply patience, a necessary trait for all successful hunters to have.
Inspired by the harsh lessons that his parents provided him throughout his childhood, Yama has now found himself devoted to a single cause: rendering all Angeni that he encounters flightless. When asked why, he will state in a cryptic way that “it’s a way to even the playing field, in the grand scheme of things.” Yes, Yama likes to cripple and maim the wings of Angeni in order to humiliate and weaken their kind as a whole. And oh, the enduring little game of cat and mouse he plays with his prey? Unless Yama invites you personally, these chicken wing buffets hunts of his are meant to be a private affair. Yama is known to be a tolerant and enduring individual (an odd thing, considering he’s a purewalker), but even he has his limits...
Due to how finicky Yama can be, not all of these hunts yield good results. He will seethe after a failed hunt, recklessly training until his paws are bleeding, his muscles ache, and he’s left absolutely exhausted. All of his failed attempts are placed on a list, one he plans to revisit in the future; if Yama doesn’t destroy his victim’s wings the first time, he will the second time or die trying. In these rare cases, the lynx is not above recruiting assistance in the form of fellow purewalkers, in order to gain the upper hand over his prey. It’s a last resort, a trump card, but one that he’s found rather effective. After all, no one expects walkers to work together. Yama will encourage his temporary partner to “capture the filthy creature’s attention” - distracting their foe, taking a few healthy bites out of them, blinding them, etc. Whatever suits their fancy. As long as he’s the one to disfigure the Angeni’s wings and their prey isn’t killed immediately (he will emphasize how important this is), Yama doesn’t care about the tactics used to torture and harass their prey. Feel free to call it whatever you like, but Yama doesn’t view it as HACKZ “cheating,” it’s just a well thought out strategy his opponent wouldn’t expect.
Family: The male doesn’t like or dislike any members of his family at the moment. They’re kind of just... there? They exist, it’s that simple. He’s off on his own, they’re off on their own, and they occasionally they run into each other. His siblings have proven to be his equals in some way, shape, or form, and in an effort to push purewalkers forward, he tolerates their existence no matter how he’s treated (...this guy is 100% the brother who allows his siblings to do whatever they want, they could be fighting to the death or torturing an innocent or setting the land ablaze, and he would go “yeah sure whatever -casual wave-” while conducting business on his phone lmao). Both of his parents have established that they have years of experience under their belts, being masters of their chosen arts, and he can’t help but feel... respect? pride? unease? when he considers them. Not that he would ever say that outright. Yama doesn’t idolize his parents or envy them, they’re just... very good at what they do, and he respects them to a degree because of that. Fully aware of the fact that his parents could easily strike him down, Yama often finds himself allowing his mother and father to take the lead during their encounters, no matter what his personal feelings on the matter may be - their wish is his command. Honestly, due to how skilled they are in comparison to himself, Yama would only ever lash out at his parents or go against their word if they asked him to do something that went against his long-term goal of torturing Angeni - going on a mindless killing spree or stealing his kills one too many times, for example.
This walker knows one thing for sure: his family’s bloodline is strong, one that strikes fear into the hearts of the weak, and he will do his part to keep it that way.
Breeding: When it comes to breeding, Yama will only consider other purewalkers to “be on his level.” He’ll probably steer towards walkers that are highly skilled in some way: experienced fighters, sly intellectuals, etc. Advances from cursedwalkers are... flattering, to put things politely, but no. Absolutely not - they will never be worthy enough in his eyes. And charmed walkers? Or any of the weaker breeds? Hah, you must be joking! Yama is finicky about who he spends his most private hours with, those rare few he might use to expand his own legacy. If he deems you undeserving of his attention at any point in time, he won’t hesitate to slip away without an explanation, never to be seen again.

gives off strong "damsel in distress (but not quite distressed)" vibes? always appreciative of her rescuers, but has grown tired/used to needing to be rescued from sticky situations and can't help but roll her eyes, sigh fondly, and apologize whenever it happens.
one of ??? sisters, probably has a brother who's destined to be the next ruler or something too. she's kind of just... somewhere in the middle, lost in a sea of siblings. feels that she doesn't really stand out among her family and often jokes about it in a very, uh, self-deprecating way. ; o;
ʻĀlohi’s familiar! He’s going to find her during a snowstorm and lead her to shelter. The two will get to chatting and she’ll discover that he doesn’t actually have a name, and go on to state that “everyone needs a name”! After some brainstorming, she’ll ask if he’d like to be named Hau, a name fitting both his coloring and their snowy predicament. He’ll agree that it’s a fine name, and then ask if ʻĀlohi would like him to help her out with directions the next morning, to which she’ll gladly say yes. The two will leave together, and Hau will decide to continue traveling with her, wanting to see what the world has to offer outside of the lands he was born in. He really is The Goodest Boy!

depending on the situation he's in, he may drop other names instead of his actual one (Quetzalli, Xihuitl, Coyotl, Green Eyes, Envy - he's probably come up with a bunch of false identities to use). a walker that's willing to lie and cheat so long as it benefits him in the end, and will happily turn on others and throw them to the wolves without a moment's notice. his main goal is self-preservation and, honestly, he's not afraid to be a coward when the moment calls for it. what good are silly concepts such as honor and bravery when you're, you know, dead?

prefers her full name (or the shortened version, Dleit, if you're close to her) and normally scrunches her nose at silly nicknames. plainspoken and serious in many ways, but does know how to have fun - she has a playful side that her close friends and romantic interests get to see. travels on her own, coming and going as the seasons change. don’t let her pristine coat and good looks fool you, Dleitg̲éedi is a very capable lady who isn’t afraid to fight with walkers and other baddies. on occasion, she's even known to help others with their charming efforts!
despite her I’m Very Srs nature and what one might assume, Dleitg̲éedi's love life is... pretty relaxed and unrestricted. she has flings pretty regularly during her travels, using them as a way to gather information about the area, get to know interesting individuals, or just, uh -cough- relax and wind down after a hard day of traveling and doing Good Angeni Stuff. meetings are brief, even with those she’s grown fond of, and she often leaves with a kiss, a wink, and the suggestion that she may pay them another visit the next time seasons change. whether or not this will change in the future remains to be seen~
