Loch Ness

Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extending for approximately 37 km (23 mi) southwest of Inverness. Its surface is 15.8 m (52 ft) above sea level. Loch Ness is best known for the alleged sightings of the cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster, also known as "Nessie". It is connected at the southern end by the River Oich and a section of the Caledonian Canal to Loch Oich. At the northern end there is the Bona Narrows which opens out into Loch Dochfour, which feeds the River Ness and a further section of canal to Inverness. It is one of a series of interconnected, murky bodies of water in Scotland; its water visibility is exceptionally low due to a high peat content in the surrounding soil.
Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface area at 56.4 km2 (21.8 sq mi) after Loch Lomond, but due to its great depth, it is the largest by volume. Its deepest point is 230 m (755 ft),deeper than the height of London's BT Tower at 189 m (620 ft) and deeper than any other loch except Loch Morar. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined, and is the largest body of water on the Great Glen Fault, which runs from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the south.

Crystalisa

If any human chanced upon the mysterious Loch, they would have seen a large, dark violet shape sprawled across the shore. Crystalisa lay with her muzzle at the water's edge, her chin resting on her forelegs, and her long body taking up much of the land behind her. The she-dragon sighed, and closed her bright yellow eyes. She had come to this Lock in search of company, and she had heard tales of "Nessie" the mysterious monster who supposedly inhabited the lake. Crystal had wished that Nessie would perhaps show herself, and cure Crystal's loneliness. But the monster was either a myth, or wasn't interested in keeping dragon's company. Either way, here Crystal now lay. "Nessie, or anyone for that matter, are you there?" she called in the dragon tounge.

The Nolynn Family wasn't typically the type to go on vacation, particularly without two of the members, but here they were, stuffed in the little car that Grégoire had brought with him when he moved in. Charles didn't like it, but, as he and his brother were the only two that knew how to drive, he'd agreed to take turns with the younger man. At the moment, the elder brother was driving, his face a bit pale. He'd only been in cars a sparse few times since his first wife, and the love of his life, Emmaline had died.

Clarisse fiddled with the radio stations, annoying the passengers tucked in the back. Grég rolled over, his cheek pressed against the window, a thin quilt wrapped around his body. Todd was in the middle seat, his height lifted by his boosting carseat. He was tucked under his own blankets and fast asleep, his head laying against the backrest. He gave tiny snorts as he slept, rolling around every few minutes. Rosemary was reading a book, but she kept having to glare up at the idiot playing with the station. "Will you just pick something, woman? You're annoying me."

"Chaaaaarles! Your mother's being insane again!" Clarisse whined, smacking her husband's arm. "Oww Clarisse! ********, I'm trying to drive." He sent her a sidelong glare, just as the car jerked out from his control. He tried jerking the wheels back, but the ice under the tires wouldn't allow it. Several screams sounded at the same time, before the car smashed into the side wall of the small bridge.

When the drivers' side window shattered, Charles went limp, a thick piece of glass stabbed through his chest. Clarisse reached for the wheel, trying to work it, but she ended up yanking it too hard and losing her grip. Todd slumped forward, a small string of drool trailing from his mouth. The jerking of the car had been too much for him, the whiplash killing him. Grég jumped forward, trying to steer over his brother's dead body, but the car was too far gone. The vehicle flipped hard over the side rail, falling to the Loch below. The remaining family screamed before plunging into the freezing water below. They held hands and cried as the water filled the car, both freezing and suffocating them all.
