Dani arrived in Professor Powell's classroom in a good mood, happy to see one of her favourite teachers again. She was glad neither he nor his nephew were involved in the altercation in the town, and was looking forward to the start of his NEWT level classes.
She was gratified to see he was tucking straight into new material, rather than what seemed to be the usual 'last term in review' stuff. They were also covering material which was recent enough she could even ask her grandparents about some of it, as they'd been around during the time. As Professor Powell's lecture went on, she had questions, but wasn't sure where to even start. Some of it was probably common knowledge to those born into this stuff, but there were things Dani knew little about.
"Um, Professor?" she asked, raising her hand. "Besides the obvious stuff, what's a Secret-Keeper? Is there some magic involved in becoming one?"
Cathy loved history and while she didn't have a crush like Danica had on the professor, she always liked him. It helped that back in first year he seemed more likely to side with her in the whole incident about blood that caused her to rush out of the classroom than the Slytherins. It seemed like ages ago that happened, though. And in many ways it was. Now David was graduated and married. She had a little sister. Her Mum passed away. She knew her family and sometimes wondered if it was better not to know her extended family, and friends some she grew closer to, and others, like Eli, seemed to be getting farther and farther away from her in closeness.
She sat down next to Danica pulling out a notebook and a quill and frowning ever so slightly as the discussion drew into recent history. The idea of Lord Voldemort made her nervous. And, if her brother was right, then their own family was involved with the guy and that set her at unease. She never understood such hatred and decided it best to remain silent for this lecture, thankful that Danica's question was more innocent than focusing on the "Dark Lord" and his awfulness.

The Ravenclaw walked into his first history class of the year. Books in hand he took a seat at the front of the room. They were going over the first wizarding war today. That was a lot of information to cover Dakota was pretty sure. At class began, he started taking notes. Instantly he remembered the Death Eaters from the Hogsmeade Attack. It had bothered him ever since it happened. Despite not being there for the whole thing and getting away on the train, he was still very worried about it. Were the two connected in some fashion? Pushing the thought aside he focused back on front of the class.
Dakota’s attention went back on Professor Powell around the mention of the dark mark. Luckily there were notes on the board for him to copy down or else he would have missed a big portion of his notes. As they went into how things were back then and then the prophecy, Dakota was grateful all of it was before his time. How anyone could follow someone like Voldemort was beyond him. At the mention of those who worked with him were caught and sentenced to Azkaban, he wondered if the break in or rather out this time had any connection to the attack at Hogsmeade.
Dakota didn’t dare say anything on the matter instead he just remained quiet and continued making notes. There seemed to be similarities to the past… maybe the past really did repeat itself. He hoped not. Despite all the information thrown at them, the Ravenclaw didn’t mind the history lesson it was definitely an interesting one.

To say that Grace was late to her first class of the year would be an understatement. Racing to history she quickly found a seat near the back as to not be disruptive. How could this have happened? Pulling out her stuff, she began quickly catching up on the notes. All while beating herself up inside for not being on time. However she was determined to be better. This wouldn’t happen again.
Catching up rather quickly, Grace wondered one thing… where the wizards that attacked Hogsmeade years ago the same as the death eaters that followed Voldemort. Sure he was dead but that didn’t mean that another wizard wouldn’t get the same idea. Where there was a thirst for power there was always the chance that something like the first and second wizarding wars could happen again. Pushing the though aside she focused on the actual lesson at hand.

History of Magic was one of Sera's favorite classes and usually she would be happy to have it as her first class of this week, but today she was not. She had too much on her mind with Alec's sorting to pay proper attention even if it was a fascinating topic like the first wizarding war. Instead she could not help but think of another war that might be happening. What reaction her father had to her letter explaining Alec's sorting and apologizing for it but reassuring him that he had been spending time with purebloods. Sera hoped her brother was adapting well and working to make friends and not enemies. She knew it was a shock to them all and she never imagined her joking of him being a Gryffindor would turn out to be true. Though to be honest she had to agree with the hat he had the personality for it. Apparently blood and names no longer trumped personal disposition. There was that Devereux boy sorted into Gryffindor last year and that family was primarily Slytherins too. Though he hung out with that girl who tried to convert everyone probably at least once to her little religion. Sera sighed and looked up to the board realizing she missed half the lecture and hurried to catch up. Thank goodness she knew plenty of the first war (and second war) from her great grandparents though they had a saint that was very different than what was taught by the muggleborn professor. Personally, Sera liked Professor Powell's teaching better than her family's she just never was one to admit it aloud. Maybe she should, it could get the heat off Alec maybe...
