✿ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✿ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✿
It was a chilly day, but the sun was still out, which meant Maylene and Skylar could go to Finsbury Park after some shopping in London. "Go play, sweetheart. Momma will be sitting right here," May said as she patted her daughter on the head. The child blinked up at her mother, staring silently before turning and walking towards the playground. There were a lot of kids there today, for some reason. She walked past the jungle-gym, the sandbox, and the teeter-totter, all filled with children. Sky was too shy for all of that commotion. Even now, as a four year old, she didn't really know how to make friends. Well, she knew the whole concept, she supposed, but it was still really hard for her. Talking to people just wasn't her sippee-cup of juice.
As she wandered aimlessly around the playground, Skylar came across a boy playing on the swings. He was kicking his feet wildly, and rattling the chains of the swing he was on. The girl tilted her head in confusion. What was he doing, anyhow? Couldn't he get the swing to go? Round blue eyes blinked as she pondered, watching the boy from several feet away. Maybe he didn't know how to swing. Should she show him?... No, her cheeks felt hot just at the thought. She wasn't good with people, after all, and she absolutely hated to be noticed.

Driskol noticed a lady walk over, one with a daughter, or so he presumed. He knew most kids had mommies and daddies, but he was one of those that didn't. He kept kicking his little feet, still going nowhere fast. He watched the blonde girl wander through the park, then she stopped near him. She had a hat too, just like him! Maybe she was nice! The toddler scooted off the seat, falling about two feet before landing on his feet. Dris hurried over to the girl, offering a silly smile. "Hi thewe! I'm Dwis! Can you hep me swing?" He pointed at the swing, then blinked at the girl, a few strands of his dark hair falling into his face, thanks to his activity. He blinked his dark eyes at her, smiling happily.

Skylar watched as the boy suddenly noticed her, and she swore she stopped breathing, as if the lack of slight movement would cause him to un-see her. She wished it worked like that, because the boy quickly jumped off the swing, (well, he kinda fell off it, but still) and approached her with a goofy grin on his face. He introduced himself as "Dwis" and asked for her help with the swing. Skylar thought the boy had a weird name. She had never met someone named Dwis before. It sounded almost like a kind of cheese, she thought.
So, the question was, should she help him or not? Well, he seemed like an okay person, for a boy, and he was smiling, which helped. Smiles were worn by good people. Skylar awkwardly nodded a little, then walked over to the swing. She turned back to the boy, Dwis, and pointed to the swing, indicating silently for him to get back on it, if he could. 'He got on the swing, didn't he? So, he has to be able to climb back onto it, somehow,' she thought.

Driskol watched the girl, smiling and bouncing when he walked over to the swings. He followed after, doing his best to run, though he looked more like a silly penguin. He tried again to climb into the swings like all the bigger kids did, but that didn't work well. He hurried around, squirming into it as he did earlier. The toddler grabbed the chains and kicked his feet, excited to swing like all the bigger kids. Maybe this was what it was like to have a mummy and daddy? Well, he knew he didn't have those, bit he sure did have a new friend!

Sure enough, the boy managed to hop back onto the swing. He started kicking his feet again, which was getting him nowhere. Cautiously, Skylar went behind him and gave him a push, and then another, and another and another, until the swing began to, well, swing. Sky stepped back and watched. Yes, that was good, but what about his kicking? She pulled herself into the swing beside Dwis and pushed off, pulling and pushing on the chains while kicking her feet, all of it in a specific rhythm. The girl looked to him, as if to say, do as I do. If needed, she would jump down and give him another push, but she hoped that he would learn how to swing right. At least he was having fun, it seemed. That was what was the most important. Still, it felt good inside to help him out. 'Is this how you make friends?' she thought to herself. It wasn't quite as bad now, but then again, this Dwis character seemed like a rather friendly child, which made it easier for her to befriend him, or for him to befriend her and her go along with it, or something of that matter.

When the girl pushed him, Dris laughed hard, squealing in delight. The girl was pushing him so high! He never managed to swing all alone! She climbed in the swing beside him, somehow pushing herself... by herself! That was nifty! He watched her, then kicked his legs together, trying to mimic her. She was his new favorite person, and he didn't even know her name! "You name?" He pointed at her, which meant removing his hand from the chain, which very nearly sent him tumbling to the ground. Luckily, he managed to stay aloft, but now he was a bit less excited to play on the mean old swings. Once he had slowed a bit, he tried to get off, but ended up falling onto the ground. He pushed himself up, then stood, trying to brush all the dirt off his coat. "Oh no! I wike this coat!" He looked up at his new friend, tears forming in his wide eyes.

Chance was getting pretty bored with his dad chasing him around and trying to keep up with his energy, so at the first opportunity, Chance took the chance (pardon the pun) to look around. There seemed to be a group of kids his age that were playing at the park, and the toddler looked and made sure that Chalmes wasn't paying attention. When he spotted it, he ran off toward the group. He then saw a boy fall off the swings, his eyes going wide and an "oh" sound coming from his lips. However, the swings were inviting, and he climbed into one, looking at the other boy. "You kay?."

It didn't take long for Dwis to copy her and start swinging by himself. Skylar managed a tiny, very tiny, smile. She was glad that managed to help him learn how to swing. However, it didn't last very long, because he pointed at her and almost fell off the swing. He caught himself, thankfully, before falling on his face. Of course, Skylar spoke too soon, figuratively, for the boy fell out of the swing not long after that. She quickly jumped down to see if he was okay, her eyes filled with worry. Dwis looked like he was going to cry! His poor coat! Skylar helped him brush off some of the dirt from his shoulders.
Then, they were joined by another boy, this one was younger than Dwis, though. Skylar watched him jump onto the swing and ask if Dwis was okay. That reminded her of what Dwis had asked her. He asked for her name. Skylar looked back to him, her cheeks a deep pink color. She made a gesture to herself, then pointed up at the sky. It was her way of saying, my name is Sky. Well, Sky was about as close to Skylar as she was going to get, anyways. Looking towards the other boy, she crept behind him and gave him a small push. What if she pushed him off the swing and he fell and started crying like Dwis? Then both of her new friends would be sad, and that wasn't something she wanted.

Driskol sat there, trying to scoot the dirt off him. When the girl hopped over to try and help, he rubbed his eyes with his hands. When the dirt rubbed on his face and into his wide eyes, he sniffled, his lip quivering. His fun day wasn't really working, despite the new friend he'd made. He rubbed his little nose, which was a pale red now, and looked at his friend, before pushing into a stand. Out of nowhere, a littler boy hurried over and climbed into the swing, before asking if Dris was okay. "'M okay." he nodded, watching the girl as she gestured to herself, then pointed up. He tilted his head all the way back, wondering what he was looking for. The sun was hurting his eyeballs, so he squinted, wrinkling his nose. He figured she was talking about the sunshine, or maybe the birds flying overhead. He looked at her again, then watched her push the other boy. "You name Biwdy? And what's you name?" After giving a name to the girl, he looked at the boy, a smile returning to his lips.

Skylar glanced between Dwis and Chace. They thought her name was Biwdy? Like a bird? She considered trying to explain, but there wasn't really a point to it. She didn't mind being called Birdy. She liked birds, after all, and it wasn't an awful nickname. However, she couldn't fly, like Chace insisted she could do. She shook her head at him, then climbed onto the swing next to him and pushed off. In a way, this was like flying, she figured. Sky glanced over to her mother, who still sat on the bench, watching her as she played with her new friends.

Driskol smiled at the younger boy, watching him get excited about the girl's name. When he asked about the girl flying, Dris' jaw dropped and he let out an audible gasp. "You can fly?!" He blinked at her, a bit disheartened when she shook her head. She got on the swing again, though, so he found one beside the other boy and climbed up. After Chance spoke his name, he said his Da was there, and Dris figured that was a pet name for his daddy. Of course, when asked his own name, the elder boy grinned excitedly. "I'm Dwiskol! Dwis! I like you name!" He smiled, then kicked his feet helplessly, a smile still on his face.

Driskol scooted off the swing, this time landing on his feet. He jumped up and down, grinning. Little Chance walked over to grab a ball, then he returned, asking to play. He had played a few times, mostly with the older kids at Wool's, but it would probably be easier to play if the other kids are clumsy too, rather than the meanie kids he had to play with. He giggled, smiling. "We can pway! You kick it?" He gestured to Chance, who was holding the ball. Dark eyes looked over at Birdy, wondering if she wanted to play. She was pointing at the trees, and he blinked, not understanding her. "You tak Biwdy? You tak to me?" He knew itty bitty babies couldn't talk, but she was older than itty bitty! Maybe she was just a scaredy birdy.
