Earth Spells
______________________________
Note: An Earth spell will always be beaten by a Lightning spell of a rank lower, equal to, or higher than it.
All E-rank techniques are considered 'cantrips' and do not take slots to learn.
______________________________
E-rank
The Third Eye
Rank: E | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: The user will focus on a single point, and the eyeball will form there from sand around them. Holding one eye closed, one will be able to use the Third Eye as they would normally. This requires a source of sand.
Rock Throw
Rank: E | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: This spell allows a small rock, about the size of a fist, to be lifted and hurled at someone or something. Maximum weight capacity is five [5] pounds (2.5kg).
Stone Bracers
Rank: E | Strength: D | Speed: --
Description: By taking dirt and rubbing it on their arms or legs, after performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to create very durable defensive bracers that add extra protection when using the arms or legs to block. The mana that is infused in them help to soften the blows of any physical attacks. These are very useful for unarmed fighters--as they count as cestus--or to defend against an onslaught of upper body blows. These bracers block physical attacks up to D-rank, and can take three [3] hits before they are destroyed.
Dust Clone
Rank: E | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: Using dust and small particles of dirt found everywhere but the cleanest of places, the user is able to form a non-physical clone. The clone itself cannot attack, but can pose as a good distraction, since once it is hit, the dust and dirt particles burst open, possibly entering the enemy's eyes, mouth and nose. Also, the clone can be dismissed at will.
Earth Military Movement
Rank: E | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: This spell allows the user to enter the ground and "swim" in it for a limited time. The user simply has to dive into the ground for this spell to activate, allowing them to swim around at their leisure for one [1] post, after which point they are ejected. The user may pay the original amount as upkeep to keep the spell going after the first post.
Earth Manipulation
Description: This control allows the user to bend stone and soil. Not only can it take any form the user desires, but it can also be shifted around as if it were a part of their own body. It should be noted that one can only manipulate earth that is naturally occurring, as it is present almost everywhere. Additionally, any earth that is being freely manipulated is not very strong, and can be broken or blown away as if it were completely natural. It should be noted that techniques can be made smaller while retaining their rank.
tab Rank E: Very small amount of earth [a pebble].
tab Rank D: Small amount of earth [a rock].
tab Rank C: Medium amount of earth [a boulder].
tab Rank B: Large amount of earth [a stone slab].
tab Rank A: Very large amount of earth [a small hill].
tab Rank S: Massive amount of earth [a large hill].
• Acts as [5] techniques for learning purposes, but is not required to learn other Doton techniques. Receives no reductions.
• Manipulated earth loses any modifiers, and is beaten by techniques of the same rank, or one rank lower against lightning.
Swift Earth
Rank: X [learned as E] | Strength: -- | Speed: Variable
Description: When performing this spell the user places their hands on the ground and causes it to move rapidly closer or away as if it were a conveyor belt. As the user increases the rank the size, speed, and range of this spell all increase. Each rank increases the range by three [3] meters.
______________________________
Rock Shield
Rank: X [learned as D] | Strength: Variable | Speed: --
Description: In the spell, the user lifts up a giant piece of earth and uses it as a shield. For every rank, the shield grows [2] meters by [2] meters, and thickens by [3] inches. All it takes to activate this technique is to grab the ground. Only blocks in the direction the wall is created, and the user is still vulnerable from other angles. X is equivalent to the user's current rank, and any ranks below it.
Earth Clone
Rank: D | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: This spell creates one [1] physical clone out of the ground. Its fortitude is incredible, and it's very powerful, but lacks speed. The clone has a D-rank defense, with a scale of [2], and can deal up to D-rank damage, but it is very slow, as are any attacks it uses, and, as such, are one [1] rank slower. As a physical clone, it can use any physical techniques and proficiencies the user has up to C-rank, but all attacks are only E-rank in speed.
Stone Shuriken
Rank: D | Strength: D | Speed: D
Description: Widely used in situations where the user runs out of projectiles. By picking up dirt from the ground and infusing it with mana, it molds together and takes the form of a projectile of the user's choice. To activate, simply grab the ground and throw.
Mud Interceptor
Rank: D | Strength: D | Speed: D
Description: The performer of this spell causes small mud balls to shoot out of the ground, deflecting and countering any projectiles. This has no effect on a person other than soiling their clothes, though it has been used by many a boy who wished to get into a mud fight. All it takes to invoke this spell is to throw some mud.
Mud Moat
Rank: X [learned as D] | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: This spell converts the area immediately surrounding the performer of it into a deep murky moat full of mud. The moat is at least [2] meters deep and [1] meter in radius at E-rank, plus one [1] additional meter in radius per rank following. Due to the nature of the moat, water walking can not be performed on it. Only an area of 1½ feet in diameter remains of solid, dry land for the user to stand on. Is activated by clapping the hands sharply together. The moat lasts for [4] posts before solidifying again.
Rock Bump
Rank: E-C [learned as D] | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: A simple yet effective technique. The user performs a set variety of hand seals, then takes a rock in his hands. He then throws the rock in the position he needs it to be. At the spot where the rock lands and puts an imprint into the dirt, a rectangular-prism shape, about a foot long, rises up out of the ground. Depending on how much mana is put into the rock he created, the size of the earth rising can be from the length of an ankle up to a knee. Used for tripping the enemy. To activate the effects, simply throw a rock.
Shaking Earth
Rank: D | Strength: D | Speed: --
Description: Using this spell, the user sends mana into the ground to cause the ground to shake. The spot of the ground to affect can be controlled. The magnitude of shaking is rather minor though, only capable of unbalancing the opponent. If done while the opponent is not on firm ground, it may cause them to fall. Activated by slapping the ground.
Stone Breast Plate
Rank: D | Strength: D | Speed: --
Description: By taking earth and rubbing it on their chest and stomach, the earth is hardened into a stone breast plate that adds extra protection to the user. The breastplate is held intact through the mana molded into it. To activate, simply rub some earth on the torso. This spell can take a maximum of C-ranked damage before breaking.
Double Suicide Decapitation
Rank: D | Strength: -- | Speed: D
Description: The user will travel through the ground to appear below their target. They will then surprise their target by then pulling them into the ground. Once in the ground their target is thus immobilized, however, struggling free is fairly easy, as the earth around them has been loosened in order to fit hips and shoulders in the ground.
Pebble Barrage
Rank: D | Strength: D | Speed: D
Description: The user releases a surge of mana that is capable of lifting small stones and pebbles off the ground and sending them flying towards the enemy. Only small stones up to the size of a grape can be sent flying, and objects too small such as sand will not be carried by the mana. The force of this attack is not really damaging. It’s only something like having many pebbles thrown at you. It’s more of a distraction and annoyance than to actually damage. Although, getting hit by a rock still stings.
Rank: E | Strength: -- | Speed: --
Description: The user will focus on a single point, and the eyeball will form there from sand around them. Holding one eye closed, one will be able to use the Third Eye as they would normally. This requires a source of sand.
