Welcome one and all to the Silver Willow Bell Herd! This is a place where pretty much everyone is accepted! Please take a look around, drop off a form if you want to be a part of it.

Also please note that this is a two-legger friendly herd, so even if you don't have a Soq or don't have a Soq that would fit this herd but still want to play, please feel free to create a persona for here. smile

Roleplay also is not required as we all lead very busy lives but we love to plot so feel free to make lots of plots with us!

Herd History

After Adelle finally returned home to Shihab, Shihab knew that he needed to keep his mate from dwelling on her feeling like a failure due to their daughter Neva. Neva being a cursed batwalker who has been intent on destroying the family even before she was cursed. This child of theirs has caused Adelle many a breakdown and at one point the mare had tried to kill herself in her grief and sorrow.

So Shihab thought it best, to start a small herd, something to keep her busy, keep her mind off of Neva and be surrounded and protected by others when he was away traveling. He has no doubts that his daughter will try to attack their little herd, but he was willing to take the risk if it meant saving his mate mentally and emotionally. And so, the herd started, and it helped the mare start to recover a bit.

Two-leggers lived nearby, and they allowed them access to the herd grounds, and in exchange the two-leggers would make them things, baskets, hair jewels, etc. There were a couple of areas that are off-limits to the two-leggers and they generally respected those limits. Though the young ones had to be reminded gently from time to time, and there was almost always a small treat in case of a minor infraction like that.

And so, their herd grew from just the two of them, to more, and Adelle started to improve.

Herd Information

Almost everyone is accepted in the herd, regardless of what they look like or their origins. The only ones not allowed are skinwalkers for obvious reasons. Adelle believes in loving everyone, or at least being civil towards them and not judge them based on their apperances alone. So foals that grow up in the herd, will learn to judge based upon their insides and not their outsides. Many of them will still be taught the basics of defending themselves in case a Kalona...or even a wind attacked them.

Every member of the herd will receive a bell from Adelle and Shihab

They also will allow weary travelers a place to rest and freshen themselves before they start back up on their way.

Members of the herd are free to travel, but it's best to let the leaders or one of the protectors know where they might be traveling to and when they might be back so they can send out help if they haven't returned.

Holidays/Events

-Winter Solstice is a major festival that the herd celebrates, with the two-leggers, their fellow herd members, and their own families. It is a time for giving, and for sharing joy with one another, a time for hope, joy, and love. Soquili and two-legger alike exchange gifts with each other, and everyone helps decorate around the herd lands, with bright lanterns, bells, ribbons, and evergreens. They sing and dance, filling the long nights with light, music, and joy. Guests, strangers, and travelers are welcome to join in the festivities; the more the merrier!

-SummerTime: During the summer months, the herd will gather around the fires the two-leggers make and tell stories. Often times there are firefly catching contests to see who can catch the most fireflies in their lantern. The two-legger's have even found a way to make smaller lanterns for the Skydancers to wear so with the fireflies in the lanterns, they can have night time performances. Drums can be heard on many nights as they enjoy each other's company under the starry skies. There are also many other nights, where they will gaze up into the stars, pointing out the various constellations, telling their great stories of the stars, and on occassion even spy falling stars in which they make their wishes. After making a wish they'll find a flower or even a ribbon, and toss it into the water to let the wish float away in hopes it'll come true.

-Love Ceremonies: Held once in the winter and once in the summer. A specialy celebration for all those who have chosen to become mated to a special someone. Music, entertainment, food, and such are to be enjoyed. The pair are given special made jewelry pieces that are similiar to each other.

-Acceptance Ceremonies: These are held once in every season, so that way any new members can receive their own bell. They have found it easier to do this so as to not drive the alpha's insane trying to remember who got a bell and who didn't.

A Hoof in Trading

There are a few Soquili within the herd that will go out and trade with other herds/wanderers. These are some of the items that are typically traded and things looking for.

Traded goods:
~Willow Bark- Medicinal purposes, used to treat fevers, headaches, back pains. Not recommended for young foals. Prepared in hot water for easy drinking or as tincticures. Only gathered a few times a year to allow the bark a chance to grow back.
**Tinctiures are only avaliable at a high trade price due to the complexeity and time it takes to make**

~Hair Pieces/Accessories- The two-leggers in the village enjoy making things for the Soquili, and sometimes have an over abundance in pretties and so will also send them along for use in trade.

~Lanterns: Lanterns are a big part of the Silver Willow Bell herd, and they are in great use during the winter months. During the summer there is not as much of a need for them, and so they are made and used for trade. Only avaliable during the summer months.

~Baskets: Every mare needs baskets on hand to help shelter the very young and fragile newborns until they are ready to emerge. These baskets are made out of willow branches mainly as well as other materials around the herdlands.

Things Looking For:
~ Bells are a HUGE part of the herd life style as every member receives a bell of some fashion.

~Rare metals/minerals/jewels: For the two-leggers in order to make certain "costume" pieces for the Skydancers to wear. Or special jewelry/pieces for lifemated pairs to wear.

~Feathers: Feathers, especially more exoctic looking feathers are used in various decorations/accessories.

~Seeds/Food Plants: There is a small plot of land set aside for the two-leggers to grow various foods and are always looking for seeds or plants to grow.

Location

Shihab and Adelle have always loved willow trees, so they are in an area that has a few of them and around water. Location will be fleshed out a bit more in depth soon. <3 Hopefully maybe even a map!

Ranks and Positions

Leaders: Adelle and Shihab

Traders: These go around to the other traders, trading goods to bring back to the herd. Will figure out a main source of trading good.

Gatherers: Gathers various supplies needed, fruits, materials for the two-leggers to make baskets and other goods, etc.

Protectors/Knights: These ones are very important as one of Adelle's and Shihab's daughter is now a cursed batwalker who is intent on destroying her family no matter the cost.

Healers: Help heal the sick/injured be it with unicorn blood or someone who practices with herbs.

Big Siblings: These are the watchers of the herds young ones. Should there ever be any attacks on the herd they will flee with them and try to keep them safe. Usually one or two protectors will have the dual role of being a big sibling so they can help fend off any of the attackers should the attackers come after the children.

"Skydancers": These soq will create and perform shows up in the sky both beautiful and daring. A fairly hard group to get into as one must be dedicated to the training involved, since group work in the sky can be complicated.

This herd is also very accepting of two-leggers, so anyone without a Soq can create an Indian persona character and have it be a part of the herd, while they aren't official members, Adelle and Shihab enjoy having their company and trust most two-leggers. Please no bad two-leggers though. They have enough drama in their life with Neva, let's not make it worse. If you have an awesome plot idea involving some distruption from the two-legger side, ping me an pm and we'll talk. smile
These two-leggers live outside of the herd area. They come and go as they please. They help make the baskets for the young foals when they are born, to various hair trinkets and things for use in trading or personal wear.
