The New WorldSequel to The Perfect WorldThe paradise was a lie. There was no war. The system built to protect us sought to destroy us... ...So we destroyed it. Or so we thought. It is the year 2077, four years after the simulation fell. The survivors from all of the remaining factions banded together and rebuilt society, free from the influence and threat of the supercomputer known as GAOSA (Governing Agent Of Societal Affairs). The people of Northwest used their unique abilities to neutralize the radiation left in the soil, restoring lush forests all across the once-barren landscape of North America. Life, once endangered by logic gone wrong, now flourishes under the care of the factions. While peace prevails in the Americas, the rest of the world still sits in ruin. GAOSA's servers spanned each of the world's major countries/regions, for some of which it was already too late: Humanity had been eradicated, replaced by more evolved mutants referred to as the "Angels." A growing system is coming into power overseas, changing the fate of the entire world...

Rules
--Obey Gaia's TOS and guild forum rules.
--Avoid arguments with other players.
--Please be at least semi-literate.
--Try not to god-mode. We'll let you know if things get out of hand.
--Don't annoy anyone.
--PM character profiles under the title of "This is Reality"
Also, unofficial rule here: Don't fear enormous posts! Take a look at the last few pages of Perfect World, and you'll see that Okami and I can get a bit insane with plot developments. If you're afraid that you won't have time to read/reply to such large posts, fear not! It takes a surprisingly long time to write so epically, so there might even be spans where the RP goes without a response for a few weeks. If you feel like you're lost or slipping behind, just ask someone to summarize. smile

The PeopleAfter the simulation was built, a resistance was formed to oppose the government and its plans. This resistance was divided over time into eight separate factions, each named for a direction. Every faction has vastly different ideas, culture, technology, abilities, and traits. The following descriptions are characteristics that are generally true of the people from each faction: Northerners: These people embody the effects that technology can have over evolution. They tend to be shorter, more fragile and lack physical strength. They are very intelligent, and are incredibly savvy with machines of almost any kind. Though Northerners lack strength, they tend to be more fast and agile than those of other factions. A genetic mutation causes nearly all Northerners to develop grey or white hair during early childhood. Northwesterners: This faction consists of a very diverse, unique kind of people. They are warriors of the earth, using mysticism in everything from cooking to combat. In fact, they are the only people with strong mystical abilities, though many are willing to teach others how to use that same power. Northwesterners are very diverse in physical traits, though nearly all of them possess incredible strength and speed. They tend to avoid places dense with technology, preferring more natural environments. They like to make modern updates to ancient tools and techniques, such as crafting medieval armor or weapons from current materials. Northwesterners are very artful people with loud, distinguished personalities. Northeasterners: These people are, in essence, simple farmers. Their purpose as a faction was merely to produce food for themselves and the other seven, generally avoiding combat at all cost. They are pretty average in physique and intellectual capacities. Some of them can be a bit arrogant due to the fact that they know other people depend on their labor to survive. Westerners: Few of them remain after the conflict four years ago, but those who survived will always carry the heart and spirit of their faction. They are highly dedicated to one another, thinking of each member as kin. They are a bit rough around the edges, often challenging authority and seeking ultimate freedom. These people were labelled the rejects of society as the simulation was made, unfit to enter the system either due to an allergy to the serum, incompatible brainwave patterns, or legal conflicts. Despite their bad reputation, Westerners are usually very understanding, empathetic people. They stand up for the underdog in any situation. Easterners: After the nuclear tragedy, the Eastern faction was built up from scraps and outdated technology. Many of the faction's inhabitants had originally been soldiers or government workers, gone rogue when they realized what was happening. Because of their past, they tend to be cynical and paranoid in temperament. It's nearly impossible to tear away an Easterner's gun. Their clothes, skin and hair are permanently stained grey by the smog and ash of the fossil fuels they relied on for so long. Southwesterners: These people have built up the economic capital of North America. Wealthy and proud, they tend to dress in elaborate outfits of silk and fur, adorned with jewelry on top of it all. They are masters of trade, always looking for an opportunity to outsmart someone on a deal. They are also the only faction that sustained a formal educational system during the entire simulation conflict, requiring every one of their members to obtain at least a bachelor's degree of the student's subject of choice. Southwesterners are not the most adept in combat, and the achilles heel of many of them is an elitist attitude. Southeasterners: These people no longer exist. They were traitors to all other factions, siding with the government to sabotage all of the others. They were a militant, ruthless kind of faction. Southerners: These people are primarily soldiers; tall, broad in the shoulders, rugged in appearance. A lot of them enjoy anything relating to strategy, hence many of them now play chess in their downtime. They are humble, realizing their own faults and acknowledging the superior powers of other factions. In battle, they are very focused and will not stop until the goal is accomplished. Simulation occupants: These are the people who lived in the simulation for 20+ years. There are no real uniting features between them, except for the fact that they are new to reality. Their memories from the world before had been erased, leaving them to believe the virtual world was the real world. When they awoke, it all came as a tremendous shock. Some accepted the truth, adapting to the real world with ease. Others were completely overwhelmed by it, losing their sanity or will to live.

Profile Skeleton: Username: Name: Age: Gender: Faction: Personality: Bio: Other info: (OPTIONAL) Appearance: (Can be a picture, TekTek avatar, or description.)
Accepted Characters:NORTH Username: Okami Ameras Name: Scarlet Ameras Age: Physical 8/ Mental 26 Gender: Female Faction: Faction leader: North/Northwest Personality: IQuiet, observant. Cynical, intelligent, wise. Snarky Bio:Born into the faction of Northwest, her father a big and burly Northwestener and her mother a Northener who moved to Northwest. When she was 8, she was kidnapped by the Caretakers of the long destroyed simulation and put into the simulation. 4 years later she escaped, and helped another on the way, the AI known as Eva. Some time later after Layla didn't return from a battle with Southeast, Scarlet was sent by Northwest to become the Faction leader of North. A massive state of the art Mech was built for her, and in the final battle the mech and her channeled and converted the nuclear energy into thermal energy. The conversion made a Holy Fire which burned radiation, which restored the Americas. Afterward, Scarlet found herself to be 4 again. She still is committed to her duties as leader of North, while training with her father in her off time. Other info: Scarlet has the typical Northener Physique. Thing is, she shares the immense strength of the Northweseners and an even more unusual speed. What does this mean? Appearance: Username: Hiddochi wolf Name: Layla Azerean Age: 36 Gender: Female Faction: Northern Personality: Quiet, commanding, emotionally detached, analytical. Bio: Layla grew up in the tragedy of the bombings, narrowly escaping death thanks to the healing abilities of a man named Aerilo. She was fascinated and drawn to him, following him as he began to organize the Northwestern faction. She was taught by him for many years, though in her youth she rejected his teachings regarding the mystical arts. Upon reaching adulthood, Layla separated herself from Northwest, becoming the monarch of the Northern faction. During a massive battle between the factions and the Caretakers, Aerilo was killed, causing Layla a tremendous amount of grief. Ten years later, she became involved in the affairs of other allied factions, losing her title as monarch and instead migrated to Northwest to seek refuge. Layla eventually moved back to her homeland after the final battle, this time as a resident rather than a leader. Genesis now lives with her, helping her and other Northerners with daily burdens. Appearance:
Username: Hiddochi wolf Name: Genesis Age: Originally built 28 years ago. Gender: Male Faction: Lives in North, loyalty undeclared. Personality: Patient, kind, eager to help, protective, insightful, tries to avoid conflict whenever possible. Bio: Genesis was one of the original Caretakers, created to protect the simulation's occupants. He designed Eva's AI and grew her physical body in a government lab, under the direct orders of the Administrators. During the Battle of the Caretakers 14 years ago, Genesis and his sister model Nemesis encountered the mystic Aerilo, and by mere chance Genesis delivered the fatal stab that killed him. Aerilo was able to transfer his spirit to the robot's body in his final moment, giving the robot a whole new meaning of life. As the years passed, Genesis began to see the evils of the system, veering further away from his creators and brethren until Eva and the Northwesterners offered him refuge in the factions. Genesis now lives with Layla in the Northern faction, often crafting furniture or other household commodities for others. Other info: Though Genesis is a robot, he houses the soul of Layla's mentor, Aerilo. This fact has given him a free will, a personality, and a life all his own. Appearance:
NORTHWEST Username: Okami Ameras Name: Alexander Vyne Age: 9 Gender: Male Faction: Northwest... still hasn't lost his flair for extravagance. The Northwesteners seem to encourage that. Personality: Extremely intelligent, shy, scatterbrained at times. Bio: Born and raised in Southwest... at least up until the war came. He was 5 then, when the Mutants and the Robots came to take his mother and father... His mother came... hid him below ground, sent him to get lost in the catacombs below the city. He never saw his parents again. He mourned them in the darkness, ran when he had to from the explosions and black hole physics of the core going all wierd. He was on the edge of despair when finally a group of Northwesteners came and found him below ground. Thankful to see the sky again, he was amazed to see that the ground was now bare and ashy, with tiny little white things popping up from below the earth. When he went to pick one, he found it was a tiny white mushroom. He was brought to Northwest, where he first saw Scarlet while wandering around the Northwestern caves. She was practicing her dance routine for the first ever Festival of Hope. He asked a few questions, when when the festival came, leap onstage and danced with her! It was the most daring thing he had ever done. At Lukas's, her father's insistence, he started dating Scarlet. Lukas and Isabella have taken on the roles of surrogate parents for him, including teaching him the Mysitc arts. Other info: He now lives between North and Northwest, generally following Scarlet around. He loves her very much, and is extremely aggravated that Lukas, for some reason, seems to want to train him far harder then Scarlet, who's a bloody Nephilim! Appearance: Username: Okami Ameras Name: Lukas Ameras Age: 35 Gender: Male Faction: Northwest Personality: Loud and obnoxious, good sense of humor. So intelligent it's almost unfair. Unpredictable, Seems to know things before they happen. Bio: Lukas was born in Scotland. Raised there until he was 6, he then moved with his parents to america. He was only living there 6th months before the bombs dropped. Somehow he escaped the bombing without any radiation sickness. Trying to put him into the system failed, as the serum just did not work. They injected him, he held still and waited for something to happen. When nothing did, he wandered away. Joining the resistance (quite frankly out of nothing better to do), he studied mysticism alongside Layla while Aerilo wile still alive. He fell in love with a young evolved woman who was studying with them, a young woman known as Astrid. Eventually they got engaged. Eventually the Caretakers attacked the newly formed factions, and in the battle not only Aerilo, but also Astrid was killed. Lukas went on a rampage that day, single-handedly wiping out half of the caretakers... though he could never quite catch up with the Caretaker that did the deed. Isabella, Astrid's sister, comforted Lukas, and slowly the grieving Lukas fell in love with her. They lived in the newly formed Northwest for many years, until Odessa was born. But the happiest day of Lukas's life was when Scarlet was born. That day he shoved the midwife aside and danced with the baby in his arms around the room. Years later, he discovered a safe way to leech radiation out of the soil. There he helped Scarlet plant the first tree of which would shortly become the massive Northwest forest. Shortly afterwards Scarlet was kidnapped by the Caretakers. Lukas went on another rampage but found he could not bring his daughter home. He went back to Northwest and focused everything he had into restoring the soil and making plants grow again. Under his guidance, Northwest flourished. Scarlet eventually came home, and he helped her remeber the mystacism she had lost. When Layla came to Northwest, and North sent a request for a new leader, it was Isabella's and his decision to send Scarlet. He helped build her mech and protected Eva during the battle that destroyed the Caretakers and Angels. Now that things have quieted down, he has had Odessa help him hack into the satellites above the earth.. checking to see what the rest of the planet was up too... Other info: He is a certified genius. Appearance: NORTHEASTUsername: Hiddochi wolf Name: Eva Silviare (formerly Eva Annalyse) Age: 24 Gender: Female Faction: Currently lives in Northeastern territory, however her loyalty will always be with Northwest. Personality: Passionate, caring, kind, impulsive, naive. Bio: At one time a simulation occupant, Eva discovered on accident the real world outside of the paradise. She befriended Scarlet and much of Northwest, quickly learning the truth of what had happened to the world over the past 20 years. She learned of her origins; designed as an artificial intelligence to store the simulation's rewrite code in case of catastrophic failure, Eva was written into a physical, human body by the android Genesis. Eva gained allies in many factions, though her closest all resided in Northwest. She stood by their sides all through the final conflict with GAOSA and the Angels, using her connection with the system against it. Once the battle was over, Eva dedicated herself to helping the other simulation occupants get over the initial shock of transitioning. Having bonded significantly in this peaceful time, Eva and Devon got married one year ago, and decided to settle down in Northeast's quiet farmland. Appearance: Username: Hiddochi wolf Name: Devon Silviare Age: 37 Gender: Male Faction: Lives in Northeast; originally from Western. Personality: Friendly, upbeat, loyal, has a good work ethic, protective. Bio: Devon saw everything with his own eyes; he was a child when society fell, and he witnessed as the factions formed and rose against the simulation. He wanted to live in the virtual world, but he was allergic to the serum -- it affected his brain chemistry negatively, causing him to blindly attack and kill without reason. He was one of many with this defect, being labelled as a reject by the system built to protect them: These people banded together to form the Western faction. During his time in West, Devon met Chris, and took the boy under his wing when Chris's parents were killed by Southeastern soldiers. They developed a brotherly bond over the years. After the battle, Devon continued to pay frequent visits to Chris, always hoping the boy would become himself once more. As he and Eva settled down in Northeast, Devon kept himself busy by helping out the farmers, relinquishing his hobby in crafting explosives and other weapons for more peaceful pursuits. Appearance:
WEST Username: Hiddochi wolf Name: Christopher Levine Age: 17 Gender: Male Faction: Western Personality: Moody, brooding, unpredictable, regretful. Bio: Chris was born into the wartorn wasteland of the real world, having never known the utopia that existed beforehand nor the paradise of the simulation. He was raised in West, learning from a very young age how to fire a gun and protect himself from the Caretakers and opposing factions. His parents were abducted and killed by Southeastern soldiers, leaving Devon as his only companion. Despite the tragedies of his life, Chris was a fairly upbeat, fun-loving kid. It wasn't until the Westerners stumbled upon a group of mutants living in the Wastelands that he was changed forever; the mutants implanted an orb in his forehead, as he was the only suitable candidate to accept it at that time. That orb gave him extraordinary powers. During the final battle, GAOSA used the master frequency to hack into the minds of Chris and his new mutant allies, using them and their orbs to kill the very people he wanted to protect. As Eva shut the system down, Chris was free from its control...but he had lost a part of himself in the process, making him into the unstable mess he is now. He currently resides in what is known as "the Cubes," a mental health hospital built in the old Western territory for those simulation occupants who never got over the shock of transitioning. Other info: Chris's orb enables him to use telekinesis, telepathy, and it enhances his overall mental abilities to calculate or think faster than average. However, after his time connected with GAOSA during the final battle, Chris lost his sense of self-control, and his powers now behave erratically against his will. Appearance: Like this, but with a glassy blue sphere implanted into the center of his forehead:
EASTSOUTHWEST Username: Hiddochi wolf Name: Ramund Heinline Age: 23 Gender: Female Faction: Southwestern Personality: Observant, analytical, cold, manipulative, studious. Bio: Ramund is the daughter of a Northwestern mystic and a Southwestern scholar. Tucked safely away in the confines of Southwest, Ramund was always led by her natural curiosity; her father taught her everything he could of the physical world, and her mother shared some of her knowledge on the mystical arts. Nothing quite fascinated her as much as the human consciousness, though. She began to view people's minds as tools for her to use, and it became a game for her to read them and use that knowledge against them for her own benefit. Ramund used her talents to her advantage, always possessing just the right pieces of information to succeed at anything she tried. She plowed through the educational system with ease, working her way up through different subjects and grade levels faster than her peers. She graduated from university with a diploma in psychiatry. Ramund now works in the Cubes, counseling and analyzing the mentally unstable patients within. Appearance:

Timeline of Important Events
5/9/2033: GAOSA's construction was finished. The supercomputer was tested extensively for months before being implemented as the governing agent of the United States, replacing all human politicians.
3/28/2047: Nuclear bombs obliterate all societies across the world simultaneously. People thought it was because of a war between nations: It was really GAOSA, intending to kill off the human race to be replaced by physically superior mutants descended from human genetics.
4/02/2047: A young government worker named Shane rises to power, assuring the public that his engineers were working on a solution, and society would be rebuilt.
11/17/2047: The simulated world is finished being developed. Shane informed the public that everyone was required to live in the virtual reality. Compliance was mandatory.
11/30/2047: All civilians were uploaded to the system except for those rejected by it. The rejects banded together, beginning the formation of the resistance.
2/6/2050: The resistance has been divided into factions. Caretakers, the robots guarding the bodies of simulation occupants, become violent for the first time due to resistance attacks.
7/19/2062: The Caretakers gain access to incredibly powerful weapons, striking back against the factions. This war caused all factions to lose half of their populations, and sent their borders further backward. North becomes known as an enemy to East.
8/23/2072: Eva awakens from the simulation for the first time, meeting Scarlet and joining the factions.
9/5/2072: Southeast provokes a battle with West and North, resulting in West's near-termination.
9/7/2072: Most of East is wiped out by a pathogen contaminating their food supply. Scarlet is elected the new monarch of North.
9/29/2072: South is taken over by Caretakers.
10/13/2072: The grand battle begins. All Angels are destroyed. Nemesis is terminated. Shane is erased. Scarlet absorbs the energy of the nuclear warhead.
10/26/2072: Northwest holds its Festival of Hope, marking the beginning of a new world and new society.

The PlacesNorthern: This faction is one of machinery and craftsmanship. A grand city of red and gold, it is commonplace to see large mecha or other robotic creations roaming the streets. Though still recovering from the heavy damage dealt to it by the battle, North is quickly on its way to regaining the glory of its past. Northeastern: A wide expanse of farmland and open country, Northeast is the faction for the working man and relaxation. The houses are modest and far apart, often surrounded by crops or genetically engineered farm animals. Northwestern: The faction shrouded in mystery and mysticism. The core of Northwest is a massive series of caverns, all interconnected, hidden away by a dense forest and unbelievably large trees. Inside of the caverns, one will find an odd combination of technology and magic; computer terminals sit across the way from a blacksmith's station. The oddities become ever more present the further in the caverns you go. Eastern: This faction, once a military base, now serves as nothing more than a refinery of fossil fuels. Dirty, dingy, eternally grey, the Eastern territory has maintained the appearance of the Wastelands before the Northwesterners restored plantlife to the continent. Western: Sandwiched between Northwest's forest and Southwest's city, this faction appears unimpressive in comparison. Low buildings now replace the once underground society, huddled close to one another and surrounding the looming, dark tower of the Cubes. The Cubes: A tall building comprised of a series of cubelike apartments, this tower is home to all of the country's mentally or emotionally unstable civilians. It was engineered and built collaboratively by North and Southwest, placed in West for its central location. Southwestern: The city of wealth and scholars, this faction remains completely intact even after the war. A large wall encases the faction, with ornate towers peeking out over the top. The city was modeled after renaissance-age buildings, with domed roofs and sculpted windowsills in beige and pastel blues. At the center of the city is an ever-present bazaar, filled with hundreds of tents selling anything imaginable. Just beyond the bazaar is the university and the library; the only of such buildings still in existence. Southern: Now a basic encampment of homes and stores for retired soldiers, South relies on Southwest for the majority of its supplies and entertainment.

The difference between the good guys and the bad guys (Well I am currently in the middle of reading the prior RP/making a profile. It may take a few days tho depending on my free time but I figure from what I have seen it caught my interest. If you will have me of course.)
Is whether they use a human shield or make themselves one.
