Lancashire is a non-metropolitan county of historic origin in the North West of England. It takes its name from the city of Lancaster, and is sometimes known as the County of Lancaster. Lancashire in the 19th century was a major centre of industrial activity and hence of wealth. Activities included mining and textile production (particularly cotton), though on the coast there was also fishing. Historically, the docks in Preston were an industrial port, though are now disused for commercial purposes. Lancashire was historically the location of the port of Liverpool while Barrow-in-Furness is famous for shipbuilding.

Eli sighed as he looked around the street he was walking. He'd grown up on the corner, and it was a peaceful enough place. He just kind of wished it was a bit more exciting. Like maybe a zombie apocalypse. Or Dracula coming to visit sometime. That might be cool. He'd talked to Dani and Cathy earlier in the week, but that was about it. All of his friends from primary school he didn't see much of anymore. They had gone on with their lives, and he had with his. It sucked, but life did that sometimes.

He kicked a stone along the sidewalk, his hair covered by his usual hat and wearing his usual sunglasses when he heard it. A low growl. He glanced over and noticed a dog growling at him in the yard he was next to, and Eli blinked. Eli decided that he would rather not be lunch and hurried along, until he heard one thing. The sound of the fence being jostled caused Eli to glance behind him and start running. Apparently the dog had gotten out, and was now making a beeline for him. Oh, hell. Shoe leather pounded the pavement as Eli took one turn, and then another and the dog gave chase.

He tried jumping a low fence to try and get away when the unthinkable happened. He tripped. Falling face-first to the ground, Eli turned around only long enough for the dog to land on him, growling and snapping at the albino. Eli raised his hands and started shoving at the dog to get him off when he felt an all-too familiar rush of energy. The dog paused, obviously feeling it before it started shedding. Really shedding. Eli coughed as suddenly he got a mouthful of fur and was surprised when the dog backed off of him. Then Eli got a good look. Apparently the dog was going bald, though Eli couldn't recall casting any spell. The dog, completely naked now, started whimpering and ran off, tail tucked between its legs. Eli started laughing, realizing that he was now coated in fur as he stood. He started brushing as much of it off as he could before realizing it was a futile effort.

Eli turned around to look for his hat and glasses when he heard a whisper. He suddenly felt all his limbs seize and he toppled over, eyes wide in shock. He couldn't even move his head, and his eyes searched around wildly. It was then he saw a tall blond man walk up to him, tsking. He said something, but Eli couldn't understand the words. Eli's brain tried to fire off a million questions at once about the situation, until one clamped down in his mind as soon as the man picked him up. Eli couldn't see anything as the man tossed the teen over his shoulder. Someone was yelling, though Eli couldn't tell who it was, but the man suddenly cursed as the blond did something. The blond twisted, and Eli's last thoughts were before he felt a squeezing sensation was, 'Well, I did want something to happen. Too bloody bad apparently kidnapping wasn't excluded."

Watching our mouths for the words that we say
As long as we stand here waiting
Wearing the clothes or the soles that we choose

The alert happened right away, underage magic report... which was common enough at this time of year (mostly muggleborns at home alone practicing or trying to impress muggle siblings-though occasionally some halfbloods or purebloods out and about with no adult wizard or witch present); however, what was strange was not the suddenly balding dog it was the obvious use of an incendio charm on someone. She massaged her forehead realizing either everyone was at lunch or on a different shift and sighed. Well it had been some time since she was out on the field and this was simple enough-hopefully. Her job wasn't to fix the magic spells or heal anyone (thank God!) but instead to do public relations work. A few obliviate charms, it usually was fairly simple.

Within three minutes she was in Lancashire, her heeled boots clicking on the pavement, her step ever slightly not perfect due to the leg she lost a few years back during the Fall Festival. She slowly worked her way through the crowd, oblviating here and there as the witnesses stories came up to, "It was crazy. Like some sci-fi or fantasy. Pollution these days... chemical from nearby pipes... hope someone is fined big or sent to jail over this nonsense. And that poor bloke burned..."

When Cara came to the man burned, sitting on the curb being looked at by the EMTs, Cara raised a brow at him and said, "No, no, go on. I'm with the Department of Enviornment's Investigative Department, I merely need to get a few answers for proper follow up." Cara leaned down and began to speak to the man, offering her husband's services for once the man's burns to the side of his face, neck, and arms healed more, to return to looking far better-and the services free (charity work was nice at times, it gave the practice a better name after all and it helped with taxes).

That was when in addition to the sudden fire and hairless dog she found out one more thing that was interesting: a man that disappeared into thin air taking the bundled up albino kid that had originally been chased by the (now) hairless dog. She had obliviated the man after finding all she could and frowned, straightening up, adjusting her wand that hand been tucked in her blazer sleeve and frowned as she walked to where the man 'disappeared' with the boy. Obviously some child-likely a muggleborn (why was it always a muggleborn involved in such big things-it was as if none of them were born with common sense, didn't they hear about witch burnings? There was a reason magic and muggles shouldn't mix. During the summers at least they should just sit at home quietly and watch the telly or play on their computers making up crazy ways to butcher the English language like normal muggle children)- had showed off his magic and some unknown wizard took a hold of the boy and apparated... somewhere. Where was the question.

She was about to shrug it off as something she would merely need to bring up with law enforcement to handle from the Ministry-handling possible kidnappings and investigating such wasn't her job. However, she caught sight of one of the official OWlLs just as she turned into an alleyway to apparate away and it landed in front of her with an official memo stating a blonde man had been spotted 'appearing out of thin air' carrying a 'ghost like child'. The problem was it had been several people who saw it. So much for mere children being the only ones without discretion, apparently some insane man was running around with some kidnapped child.

She quickly penned a note for an auror or two to follow the trail, stating she would go first to investigate the matter and deal with the necessary memory tampering for secrecy and security. And, then she apparated away with a small crack, in following the trail of where the man had been seen last with the child.

Mackenzie found herself looking out over the horizon, taking in the breathtaking view from her wedding numerous times throughout the day. Those moments were really the only moments where she was able to take a breather and enjoy herself alone. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy being in the company of her family and friends celebrating her and Colton’s marriage, but the wedding was a little overwhelming at times. The brunette was open to having a big wedding, but Colton really wanted a small one, so they tried to invite the least amount of people possible without hurting anyone’s feelings or leaving anyone important out. And boy, was Mackenzie glad they opted for a small wedding. Greeting and thanking each and every single individual for coming took a lot of her energy, and if the wedding was double in size, she’d think her head would have exploded. Once she recuperated, Kenzie joined her husband. “So, mister Overton,” she started, hoping he’d respond with ‘Mrs. Overton”, “Shall we cut the cake?” she asked. It was probably about time, most everybody was finishing up their meals and expecting desert soon. Eyeing the cake, she was pretty happy with the colours they chose - and the bridal party matching with the decorations was sure to make their photos stunning.

Brianna was pretty excited to be a bridesmaid when Mackenzie had asked her to be one – not that she didn’t expect it, being Colton’s one and only sister. But it was still exciting. The only other time she got to be a bridesmaid was for her other brother’s wedding, and maybe she’d get to be one for him again in the future. The blonde glanced over at Connor, watching him for a moment. Her heart ached for him and what he was going through – the divorce, fighting for his belongings, losing his home. Bree was sure he’d find someone who deserved him and made him as happy as Kenzie made Colton.

Once Brianna finished eating dinner, she made her way over to Hikaru, who she had invited as her date. So far, they hadn’t had much time to spend together and she felt a little bad about it. “How’s it going?” she asked, sliding into a currently unoccupied seat next to him. Since she wasn’t in a relationship, and it didn’t seem likely that she would be in one anytime soon, she invited her friend. On another positive note, by inviting Hikaru, her family wouldn’t ask her if they were having a ‘fling’ or secretly dating. Hikaru was happily in love with Remi.

Joey had been to a lot of weddings in his lifetime – his favourite being his own when he got to be lucky enough to marry the woman of his dreams. Most of the weddings he and Tanna attended had felt romantic and as if they were on a very fancy date. The current one did not – not only because his entire family was here, but moreover due to his children being with them. It was still fun – it only felt more like a family event that they had to attend. Part of him doubted Mackenzie wouldn’t try her hardest to remove the boys from the guest list, but he had also trusted them to be on their best behaviour even if only for one night.

Another thought had struck Joey: Mackenzie’s wedding was the last one in the family before one of his children undoubtedly tied the knot. As long as it isn’t Izzy, he thought, looking over at his daughter. He still looked at her the same he did when they first adopted her over ten years ago. Joey knew she was becoming a woman, and although he didn’t want to lose his daughter to anyone, he also knew a girl like her wouldn’t have any trouble finding a good lad.

╚══════════════════════════════╝

((OOC: outfit in top picture))

Ariana had so much fun as the mother of the bride and went a little too overboard in helping Mackenzie with planning her and Colton’s wedding. She tried really hard to not get overly involved in making decisions, but it proved to be rather difficult. Besides, this was a once in a lifetime event – she only had one daughter! And Mackenzie looked stunning in her dress. It was the mother’s role to make sure her daughter had the right dress and colours and nothing clashed or looked tacky. Blue seemed to be a common theme among the Hawthorne family’s weddings – Joey had blue mixed with pink (which Kenzie was too young to remember, but she got to be the flower girl), her own wedding’s colours were red and blue, and Kenzie’s was blue. Now, Ian had his first experience in being in a wedding party although he was a little older and would hopefully remember it for the rest of his life. If life was fair, every child should get to experience being either a flower girl or ring bearer.

You showed me what it means to be happy ever after, in love forever
You gave me the key to all your love and all your pleasure, you're my treasure

Hikaru seemed to rather enjoy weddings. This time he had less to plan as he was simply a guest. He actully had to go out a suit though he lucilly had a tie of the weddings chosen colors. He had chatted with others he knew and of course congratulated the happy couple. After a bit he got the dinner and relaxed at a table. He had been pleasantly suprised Brianna picked him as her plus one. Suprised but not ungrateful. Remi seemed to enjoy suit shopping with him

Once Brianna broke free from her obligations of bridesmaid she came over. "Pretty good, didn't have to plan hard for this one. Almost strange being a guest." Hikaru joked. Course the only other wedding he had been in was his own. Quite the difference going from groom to guest.

Ooc: hooray to hikaru now owning a suit!

Colton was secretly glad the wedding ceremony was over. At least everything had gone without a hitch, so everyone was happy. As they were in the midst of greeting and thanking people, he subtly loosened his tie and readjusted his outfit more for comfort. He hoped Kenzie wouldn't notice.... but when she inevitably did, he hoped she wouldn't be too mad. He looked over at her when she called him formally by his (and her) surname. "Well, my dear, that sounds lovely." He paused for a moment, then slipped his fingers through hers to hold her hand. "You know what else sounds lovely? Saying Mrs Mackenzie Overton. It just... works well." He kissed her gently, then took a moment to look around. Everyone seemed happy, even Connor, who Colton had been highly worried about. At the very least, he was saving his emotions. Luckily, they were all surrounded by family. And speaking of, Colton looked over at just the right time to catch a flashbulb from his dad's camera. Oh well, he would get the flashes out of his vision soon enough.

Most of the time, Finny rather liked her journey home from work. If she were a muggle, it would have been a five hour commute by car or train, but as she was most certainly not, she generally didn't spend more than a half hour to and from, when you took into account her apparition. While she also could have taken the Knight Bus, she didn't much feel like arriving at work or at home feeling sick to her stomach from the... creative navigational methods. So it was her habit to apparate into a wooded park a fifteen minute walk from her aunt's house, and continue on foot from there.

Despite being a petite young woman, she was never all that concerned for her safety; the area her aunt lived in was more well to do and usually quite safe. The park was well lit, and besides, she wasn't defenceless, even if Defence had never been her best subject. She might not pack a powerful punch, but she could at least manage a simple jinx or hex. Luckily, she'd never had to. On this occasion she was actually coming home early; it was four in the morning, and some nights she didn't get home until pushing five thirty, since she typically went into work after sundown and ended it before dawn. It'd taken a little while to get used to the schedule, but she'd always been a night owl and didn't mind much sleeping during the day. Besides, she was often free on the weekends to spend time with her siblings.

Walking briskly along the gravel path, Finny adjusted the strap of her equipment bag slung over one shoulder, and kicked a bit at the pebbles underfoot as she went, listening to the distant cry of birds and far beyond that, the rush of very early morning traffic on the nearest road. She was used to letting herself 'space out' during her walks, and she enjoyed it as time to decompress from work, although her job was hardly what she'd call 'high pressure' unless they had some sort of project deadline to hit. Richard was a very easygoing sort of boss and colleague, and she enjoyed her work at the observatory, even when she had to tolerate bratty school groups.

In fact, she was so tired and caught up in her ambling journey home that she failed to immediately notice the presence of anyone else.

Constant was quietly walking on his way home, not far from here. He just finished dealing with a client, especially hours of cleaning the mess. His jack-of-trades business that has nothing to do with being a musician was pretty much fun to him: a flexible schedule and no pressure at all. Constant didn't actually saw the time and didn't really care for it since this was pretty much the new fun normal for him. At least it wasn't an all-night of doing a career that he didn't like in the first place thanks to the "Old Man". Living like this at the ripe age of twenty-nine was going so far, so good.

He was walking past the petite woman, who he didn't even bother glancing at first. Until he and she turned a corner and was met with a threatening voice, holding out a knife pointing at the two.

"Empty your pockets now, and nobody gets hurt!" The tall (but not as tall as Constant) burly muggle said, prompting Constant to just hold up his hands. He wondered if it has something to do that he looked like a birch tree or the fact that he was pretty new in the county.

"I don't have a nickel, I'm just a new townsperson from here." He casually answered, with an accent that was definitely not British. The way his tone carried it was as if it was no big deal for him, his clients weren't known for being nonviolent. Constant had also been mugged twice his life, and got out of it scot-free so this wasn't really his first time dealing with violence. Just another Tuesday for him.

"Hm." The mugger hummed, glancing at the lady's bag she was carrying, then at him, "But this lady sure does. I'm still keeping an eye on you, Rail Boy, don't interfere or she gets it."

Constant grumbled, slightly knitting his eyebrows in annoyance. He sure didn't want to expose himself using magic here, nor did he actually want the lady to have the receiving end of having her stuff stolen and stabbed. Ideally, he could have used wandless magic and disguise the stupefy with a punch on the nose, just like the good old days. So... being kept an eye on sure was stopping him.

Finny could be a bit absent-minded, but she wasn't entirely clueless. She noticed the tall man who walked past her, but after a brief once-over from a distance behind him, dismissed him as a threat to her person. He wasn't looking back at her, or suspiciously slowing his pace as if waiting for her to go ahead of him, and he'd passed her without so much as a glance. If anything, it made her feel even more at ease; someone else was on the same lonely trail. There was some sort of camaraderie in walking the same way as a stranger on a peaceful dawn. Or maybe that was just her being a little too poetical.

Either way, she wasn't anything closed to alarmed until they both turned a corner before the stone steps leading to the park's entrance and exit, and were met with a knife. Finny had never seen a knife so close-up before, and for a moment just stood there in stunned silence, examining how it gleamed in the flickering yellow light of the nearest lamppost. Then her good sense caught up with her curiosity. The mugger wanted them to empty their pockets. The man beside her didn't sound very concerned, but then again, he also had just said he didn't have any money on him.

"Sorry," she said cautiously, trying to stall for time as she felt at her wand in the pocket of her coat. "Hold on a moment, this is very heavy- very expensive," she added, as if to sweeten the deal, and began to slowly remove her bag from her shoulder. Right. She was going to lower it to the ground, pull her wand while he was distracted, and jinx him. She didn't want to risk a stunner; if she couldn't pull the spell off due to nerves and something went wrong, she'd never live it down. Assuming she wasn't dead from, you know, being stabbed. The man next to her seemed rightfully ticked off, but he also didn't seem like the type to try anything, so maybe if she was just quick enough she could make it seem like the mugger had just lost his footing and fallen over-

Right, well, the last time she'd practiced her Knockback Jinx it had still been strong enough to send a lightweight chair flying across a room, so- Finny heaved the bag down at her feet, fluidly drew her wand, and breathed, "Flipendo-,"

Constant was watching the mugger's eye go wide in curiosity as the lady announced that she was carrying something heavy and expensive. He was pleasantly surprised at the lady's calmness to being pointed a knife at, any other person would probably just scream their head off and cry. Constant was used to getting into fights in Beauxbatons, so again he can't relate. But geez, he couldn't leave a person this impressive to die. The burly mugger's attention was shifted to the lady, or rather he was more focused on her bag than anything. Constant was convinced that this man would fall for tricks in the magic show. What a clown.

With his hands still up in the air, he was about to make a wandless spell when a small flash of light caused the man to stumble a bit, forcing him to drop the knife. Not enough to, say, have the effect of having the man fall to his nose. But it did caught him out of his rhythm. "Hah," Constant snorted, then proceeded to mock the man again. "You're mugging in this town drunk? You're so bad at your job."

                                                        "Shut-!"

Constant cautiously sidestepped as the man ran to his direction in rage, before making a spell gesture with his hand. "Stupefy," Constant whispered as he closed his fist and driving the punch to his nose. At the same time when a red spark appeared from his fist meeting the poor man's face. Whatever. He was ugly anyway. The Dutchman looked at the man's unconscious body with a grin, as if amused by how the whole mugging downhill. "I've already been mugged twice in my life. Anyway, how're you doing, Blue? You don't need my help, right?" He said, nodding at her bluish hair.

Here comes the beekeeper with her pitcher full of smoke
She'll put us all to sleep; I hope it's dreamless and it's deep
Sweet Prometheus, come home; they took away our fire
And all that this scarcity promotes is desperate men and tyrants

PUREBLOOD │ ASTRONOMER │ FORMER RAVENCLAW

Finny was prepared to snatch back up her heavy bag and run as soon as her spell connected with the mugger, causing him to stumble back slightly. It wasn't as if she needed him laid out flat; she just wanted some distance between her and that knife. But she was caught off guard by the man next to her's sudden mockery, as if he was trying to goad the mugger into coming right at him- "Oh," she gasped, and jumped back, dragging her bag with her, as the mugger regained his foot and lunged for her- companion? co-victim?- who promptly dodged, punched him in the face, and- stunned him?

Finny stayed where she was, too tired or surprised to bolt, trying to understand what just happened. Had he- oh, he must have seen her spell, and she'd been prepared to deny, deny, deny- 'must have been a trick of the light, this lamppost keeps flickering-' but had he just... stunned him, without a wand? She wasn't sure if she was imagining the entire thing due to nerves, or if she should commend him for his spellwork. She was nearly positive she'd seen a hint of red sparking in his fist. "Oh, you're a wizard," she said in relief, throwing caution to the wind in a combination of sudden adrenaline and her tired state. If he really wasn't, she'd pretend it was some sort of shocked reaction- rambling nonsense, that sort of thing.

"One of us might have said so to begin with," she said almost to herself, then laughed suddenly. Now she really knew it was her nerves. In the moment, she'd been calm, but she wasn't anymore. Finny wasn't sure how she felt. Frightened but also a bit giddy, like she'd just gotten off a broom, maybe? He was saying something about her hair. Blue- Finny smiled in spite of her shocked state, heaved her bag back over her shoulder with a sigh, and pocketed her wand in bemusement. "Twice? What kind of record is that? Do you go about hoping someone will try it, so you can show off your wandless magic?"

For someone who'd been in a life-threatening situation just moments earlier, she was feeling almost jovial. Maybe she'd have a good cry once she got home, but for now the mugger was unconscious and clearly not going anywhere, and maybe she ought to have been offended with the man beside her for being so reckless, but it had worked, hadn't it? The Ravenclaw in her was pragmatic enough to accept that. "Thank you," she said crisply, and now that she had a hand free, extended one neatly, her ingrained manners kicking in. "That really was quite clever, the punch trick. Delphinia Meadows. And I feel as though it's more of a teal, sometimes," she touched at her short hair self-consciously, then smiled.

What fine design; what hands, what minds!
The envy of Eden, our tools and our reason, it's clear in the animals' eyes
We stand upright, build fires at night
Made on the sixth day to rest on the seventh
And now we just try to survive
