Personality:
Upon first glance, Sakura appears to be a kind and bubbly person. She is sweet, she is talkative, and she can get a conversation spurting out of even the most introverted of souls. Always seeking out anyone within the vicinity for a conversation, it is clear that she feels most comfortable surrounded by a crowd. And although she tends to dominate a conversation, she has the patience and the ability to restrain her tongue enough to encourage those more quiet and shy speakers (without totally smothering them in words). She is warm, open and just begs for others to return her affections.
Yet deep down she is lonely. She longs for foals and a family of her own, but in some small part of her brain she is afraid. The tragedy that befell her parents haunts her in some hidden part of her mind, not quite acknowledged, but still a looming shadow that casts doubts through her. To try and contradict these feelings, she tries not to allow herself to fall in love. She wants to, but there is always hesitation, and her relationships always collapse after a short while. Not only this, but she misses her family greatly. She misses the bickering between her siblings, she misses their caresses and the feeling of belonging.
That is the reason she confines herself to the loneliness of her forest, where few people seldom wander. This is where her family used to live, and this is where with every step she can relive the memories. But that is not what binds her to this land. The truth is, before her father left, he made her promise to stay and said that he would come back. He said he would go for help, to his parents and his old herd, to find someone to care for the foals and raise them. She vowed to wait for him and not leave. But as time went on, the foals grew hungry and were forced to leave their cave to forage for food. And eventually, her siblings realized they were alone and went off to live their own lives. Yet Sakura, as loyal as ever, remains in the hope that one day he will return. Despite this, she secretly yearns to travel, though she knows she cannot.
The mare tends to act more mature than she is, which is a consequence of being forced to raise herself from such a young age. In truth, she is very young and it is reflected in her naivety at times. Due to her talkative and open nature, she usually hears a lot of stories about other Soquili, and tends to give out advice based on these stories. Unfortunately, this advice is often a misinterpretation of the stories and so can lead to dire consequences. After all, she herself is inexperienced in the world.
But overall she is warm and compassionate. She is a shoulder to lean on in tough times, and always willing to listen to others. She enjoys a good chat, and feels most comfortable around others. She is loyal and does her best to help others, be it consoling them emotionally or healing their physical wounds. She also strongly believes that everyone has a good soul deep down, and strives her best to bring this out in others.
History:
Sakura was born to a loving and nurturing couple. Her father, Blair, was strong but compassionate, and treasured his mate above all. He told stories of his old herd, where only those graced with flight could live, and how he had chosen to leave them behind to be with the one he loved, a uni by the name of Eya. Her mother was the kindest soul Sakura has ever known, graceful and beautiful but as soft and delicate as a gentle flower. The two were inseparable, and together they made a whole that was far stronger than either of them individually. Never had Sakura seen a love more true and pure than that of her parents.
It didn't take long... (WIP)
The basics (to be typed out neatly later):
1. Born the oldest. Her parents had two consecutive litters (4 baskets + 3 baskets).
2. Whilst giving birth to the last set of baskets, something went wrong during labor and Sakura's mother ended up weak from blood loss. After that she caught an infection. Weakened as she was, the virus finished her off slowly. Her uni powers could only keep it at bay for so long.
3. Her father tried to raise as well as he could, but it was difficult for him. He had to deal with many foals and the loss of his mate.
4. With her father failing badly to maintain their family, Sakura took over looking after her family. .
5. With a promise to come back, Sakura's dad simply... vanished one day. To this day he has not returned.
6. Sakura was distraught but fought hard to keep her broken family functioning. She raised her siblings, most of whom left without a word of thanks, and was eventually left on her own. |

Personality:
Cyllene has the whole I-don't-care-what-anyone-thinks attitude. She is the most spunky, fun, weird and downright bizarre woman you will ever meet. Enjoying herself and having a blast is her top priority in life, and she will do things without having thought through the consequences of her actions. Does diving through that narrow, dangerous crevice look like fun? Before you can even say 'be careful', she's off whizzing through it. Huge fleet of deadly jellyfish? Let's play tag and try not to get stung! Consequences mean nothing to her at all.
She lives in the moment, not letting anything bog her down. She's free as a bird and would like to stay that way. Fiercely independent, she knows how to have a great time alone, and doesn't need anyone's approval or love to do what she wants when she wants.
Her treatment of others varies on her initial opinion of them. If she doesn't like the way you look, she's going to make a point of it. Should she think you're drop dead gorgeous, she will flirt you into the bedroom, so to speak. Her opinions are voiced loudly and without caring about the other person's feelings. Blunt, brash and brusque, she will not attempt to cover up the truth for anything.
She believes herself to be an ideal individual. In her mind, she is the smartest, bravest, fastest, and generally most best at everything that is worth doing individual in the seven seas. Self-confident to a fault and overly-flaunting about it, she can come across as incredibly annoying.
That said, at her core she is a nice enough, fun-loving individual, it's just that few people ever break through her overly tough exterior. It is far too easy to lock heads with her and end up arguing, rather than seeing eye to eye with her and calling her bluff. Once she stops being so obnoxious, she might even be fun to be around. But hey, every moment with her is an adventure.
What can I say? You either love her or you hate her.
History:
Cyllene didn't much care for her family. Oh, don't get her wrong, they were great. They looked after her, fed her, and were there for her. They were everything a family should be. But she never felt like she fit in. She was the boisterous one, always getting into fights with the others. She was the daydreamer, who preferred to imagine brilliant new lands to the dull waters she grew up in. She was the troublemaker, constantly breaking the rules with no regard for anyone else's opinions. And, eventually, she became the runaway. The decision was fleeting, and she never bothered to reconsider it. Why go back to that boring life, with the same monotonous people, when the whole ocean was her playground? Since then, she met Thyone, the only other being she ever truly got along with, and has been busy exploring and hoarding treasure ever since. |

Personality:
Tinsel is an odd little creature. Around new people, she is curious, but always keeps her distance. She'll act politely, and will be very interested in others, but will make no move to initiate 'conversation' with others. Although, with her complete inability to talk (or refusal, as she has been known to say the occasional sentence in extreme circumstances), conversation is never the easiest of things with her. Around those she knows well and trusts explicitly, she exposes more of a fun streak. She enjoys teasing others, and will even attempt to shyly join in any games and roughing about that is going on.
History:
Tinsel left her nest in a fairly ordinary bird way, leaving to make her own way in the world without much looking back. Her early life was nothing special. She drank nectar, flitted about the males and spent her time larking about. Always fairly shy, she tended to keep her distance from the bigger creatures. However, one day a hurricane ripped through the island where she lived. The poor bird was carried to Sakura's neck of the woods, torn up and battered. The mare found her and took her in, looking after her until she healed up. At first, Tinsel was terrified. There was a big creature doing funny stuff to parts of her that already hurt; why was this being tormenting her instead of just letting her die? But die she did not. After a few weeks, the hummingbird slowly grew used to the mare, and to her surprise found she could understand some words Sakura was saying. Her knowledge of the Soquili language grew, and although she refuses to speak it much, the two can now readily converse between each other. Once she was healed up, she simply never left. The two of them bonded and have stayed together since. |
