CraaaAACK! Like snapping bones, the witch and wizard apparated onto the grounds of Loch Lomond in the rolling hills of the Scottish countryside, and in the distance, the grand manor shadowed over the fresh water lake while a lone dirt road carved up to the estate gates. As the chill of northern winds tattered the hem of his worn black cloak, he pulled the fabric around him tighter and trudged up the walkway to the Linwood Manor. So many years has passed since he's last graced these manor halls with his presence; the portraits must have missed him sorely, if nothing else. Tay had never quite suited himself with the practicality of being a 'gracious guest'; too much effort and not enough s**t to give. ”Morgan Linwood,” Tay began to explain, ”Slytherin. Class of 2021. Cursebreaker. He's a clever, manipulative ******** git, with a penchant for gambling—as most men do—but he's sensible, which can't be said for his brother.” He paused to study Michelle's features, ensuring she had absorbed every word before continuing on. By now, they had crossed through the outskirts of the estate and would soon reach the entryway. ”He'll help me if the price is right...” it was hard not glaze his vision across her, the only valuable thing left to him, ”With that being said; don't fall for his ******** riddles.”

Bare knuckles pounded on the door. Tay crossed his arms over his chest as he waited, and paranoia picked at the back of his neck like a vulture so he turned around to make sure no one was watching. Swallowing a hard lump in his throat, he had to count back the hours since his last dose of calming draught, and he wasn't due for at least another hour more, but bloody seven Hells; he wants it now. Impatience possessed his hand to rasp at the front door again before he tossed another golden glance over his shoulder; watching his back. How many years has it been since he'd last seen Morgan? Would his friend even recognize him? Would he see the slight limp in his leg? The shake in his hands? The panic in his eyes? Would he taste it, too? The rot? The corruption? It seems to plague him everywhere.

Morgan was relaxing in the library when he looked up to see Tilly, the Linwood house elf, wringing her hands at him. He cocked a silver eyebrow, suddenly curious. Now what could have the creature all frazzled like that? The last time he had seen anything like it was when Tay had come for a visit, but the last he'd heard, Tay was off with some woman learning the dark arts... He suddenly bolted straight up, his lean frame going erect and still. No, it couldn't be. But, it was Tay, and well, Morgan had helped his friend out of difficult situations before. Placing the book down, he ignored the house elf, who was trailing after him like a lost puppy, ready to see for himself his old friend. Tay had vanished, but not far enough away for Morgan not to keep an eye on him. He was certain that whatever it was, Tay wouldn't be showing up now without probable cause for help.

He straightened himself up and cocked an eyebrow at the house elf, which Tilly had taken as a hint that she should vanish. The house elf complied, and Morgan decided to open the door himself. Honestly he didn't care if his grandparents considered it menial house elf work, but he still had to remind himself that he was the Linwood heir, and therefore had to act accordingly in public. This wasn't public, though. This was Tay, and he was half-expecting to have to hex whoever might be tailing his best friend. He took a good, long look at his friend, an eyebrow quirking at the signs of agitation on Tay's face. Blue eyes narrowed as he saw the girl behind him, and then he stepped aside, allowing Tay and the girl to enter. He then closed the door, deciding this conversation needed to be held elsewhere.
"Grandfather's study. You should remember the way. By the way, you had Tilly in a tizzy just now. Pretty sure she's trying to report back to my grandparents. We won't be bothered, however." The study was constantly swept for anything that might be listening in, and had charms placed to ensure secrecy. After all, his grandfather had just as many shady dealings as Tay's uncle did, he was just more discreet about it.

The snake shattered into existence beside the man she'd come to love... or maybe always had. It had all been mixed up and confused at some point in her life and she didn't really know when. Her days still got confused with each other and she barely kept her thoughts straight some days. Some days it still felt like she was the scared little 11 year old looking for a protector. Some days she was sure this was all a dream and she was going to wake up back in that hell hole. There was no way she was supposed to be this happy in life. She could feel the anxiety bubbling up from her chest, her ribs felt like they were tightening in around her, trying desperately to collapse her lungs. Paranoid eyes darted over the door and the grounds, before resting on his face.

The golden eyes struck her and the need to claw at her own chest with poisoned nails faded slowly. Some called it strange, some called her insane. But in the end, he was the one who had saved her. He was the one who'd made her strong and bathed her darkest fears in light. They called him dark, and evil and crazy.... but he was her sun.... he'd been their to light the way on her darkest days. Maybe it had led her down a path of derangement, but he'd saved her when no one else would. She swallowed the lump in her throat and rested her clammy forehead against his arm for a single short moment.

She had watched his mind break down, watched him fall into paranoia and panic. She'd seen the calming droughts he craved and drained multiple times a day (no matter how hard he tried to hide it). She could see it in his eyes every time he came down from one. But who was she to judge him? She was no picture of perfection. The paranoia had claws dug deep in her soul. The past ate at her mind every waking moment and the nights were filled with horrors even worse. How could she say anything about him... when she suffered the same?

The door twitched awake and slowly swung open, breaking her mind from her own deliriums. A white haired man stood in the door, greeting them with snarky comments. So this was Morgan? She honestly couldn't say she'd ever seen him, though he was apparently from Tay's year. Not that she paid much attention to anyone beyond Tay in that year anyways. She did wonder what he meant by fall for his riddles though. Silver looked him up and down, before she stepped past him. She was gifted with the ability to make it seem like she owned any place she walked into.... when she wanted. The cold aloof presence was all this Morgan would be given. If her recollections of other people Tay used to associate with were anything to go off of, she would not like him anymore than she had liked Phinelia. The mere memory of that girl made Michelle want to set something on fire. A sneer had crept onto her face as she followed Tay through a maze of hallways to what Morgan had called his 'grandfather's study'. She chose to not introduce herself. Tay could do that if he so wished, she supposed.

Reflexively, his posture stiffened as the door swung wide on its hinges to reveal the eerily familar shades of gray that haunted him everywhere he went. Ghosts were hidden in those faces; memories were notched in bows and showered his mind with a rain of glass arrows. Shattered silver and gray—silver as the mane of that fox, Ronyo—gray as bleak bullets in the eyes of the lion, Colton—silver and gray, it glowed like the moon was in his arms and the stars were just in reach of blue-eyed skies. But their greeting (if it could be called such) consisted of the typical slightly inclined nod and look of appraisal; today was no different. Beside him, he could feel the warm touch of flesh pressed against his own and wrapped an instinctive arm around the small of her back as he escorted Michelle within the manor, casting one last glance over his shoulder until the door snapped shut behind them. Tay snorted and patronizingly mumbled, ”So Tilly does remember me.” At the mention of his grandfather, however, heavy brows furrowed as his mouth turned grim. ”So he's still alive then? Lovely, I'm sure he's told you all about how I've been barred from my own father's estate.” It was hard to hide the sneer enveloping his features as he kept at a pace with Morgan, continuing to lead Michelle with a possessive hand on her back and navigated through the halls to reach the study. Once inside, he released his hold on the serpent and shed off his thickest layer, draping the black cloak on a wooden arm chair revealing the plain leather doublet and dark trousers beneath as he stepped into the center of the room.

”I'm sure you remember Michelle,” he said, passing Morgan a pointed look to not delve into the depths of just how much Tay had rambled on about her since the day he'd met her (though for those first few years, it paled in comparison to his discussions about Phinelia.) ”And this is Morgan, you can trust him.” Tay finished quickly as he passed a glance back to Michelle, hoping to move through introductions as harmlessly as possible. ”I'll cut to the chase; I need your help again.” Brutal and blunt, Tay couldn't afford himself a tact and strategic approach, he needed to save that for later. ”It's in regards of my not-so-recent exile from the Nott Castle; they ******** me Morgan. Every last bloody one of 'em.” Wildfire burst like a poisonous gas in his eyes, and the more he spoke, the more enraged he became. ”But Remington....Oooh, dear Uncle Remy...” Tay licked his lips and swallowed hard. ”He is going to get what he deserves... Will you help me?”

Morgan followed behind the two, already trying to think of and dismissing reasons as to why Tay would come now of all times. He'd heard stories of what happened with Tay, and had to endure his grandfather's comments about Tay's banishment from his home. However, while his grandfather was still the head of the family, Morgan was being given more leeway on what he did in the place. As Tay confirmed his grandfather's rather rude comments on his best friend's status in his family, his mouth drew into a firm line and he found himself cursing their shared past. Morgan had gotten away relatively unscathed with the events of their school years, while Tay had gotten the brunt of them. It had never settled well with him what happened all those years ago, and it continued to gnaw at him that he'd been unable to even try to attempt to fix the damage that the past brought. It was telling in the way Tay limped, his stance, and even his face just what had been happening since he'd last seen the gold-eyed man. "He'd only told me enough to inform me of my poor choice in friends. I rather disagree with him. Who I keep company with is my own business, not his." And certainly none of his mother or grandmother's business. He didn't want to deal with the two of them giving him grief over what he had been up to, after all.

As Tay shed his cloak, Morgan moved to lean against his grandfather's desk and cross his arms. He hadn't missed the air of presence the silver-eyed girl gave off, and as Tay introduced her, Morgan chuckled despite himself.
"I see you've moved from redheads to blondes. What would O'Malley say to that if she was still around, hrm? Though, I rather doubt she'd care. I haven't seen her in over a decade, so she's of little consequence. A pleasure to meet you, Michelle." He refrained from mentioning the other redhead that had been in Tay's past, figuring that Phinelia was best left in the past. She associated with Storm, and it made Morgan annoyed yet again that the two Slytherins shared so many similarities. Both tall, both lean, and both silver-haired. The difference between them was that Ronyo had always seemed to carry his own sense of self-importance and judged everyone according to his own restrictive standards. If he'd pulled his head from his own arse, Storm would have realized the situation Tay had been in would have led to the man's death. And all Ronyo had done was to hasten his friend's descent into darkness.

Listening to Tay's request piqued Morgan's interest, and the silver-haired man looked closely at his best friend. Oh, he remembered Tay's uncle all right. Uncle Remy hadn't cared for Morgan in the slightest, and the feeling was reciprocated. He uncrossed his arms and stood straight as he regarded the other man. Revenge against Remington Nott? He smirked, already thinking of things they could do to ensure he could make the man pay.
"Remington Nott the Third. Last I heard, he was playing house with some woman who'd mysteriously lost her parents. A real tragedy, of course. They were certainly older, and well, they left everything to her soon after Remington came into her life. Truly interesting circumstances, if you ask me." He crossed his arms again as he regarded Tay, allowing scenarios to run through his head. "Well, what do you have in mind, and how exactly do you plan on executing this idea? I haven't been too busy lately, I'm sure that we can come up with something that will work quite well."

The possessive hand on her back proved to keep her just away from the edge of panic. She didn’t like being in a strange place with strange people. Once inside what she presumed to be the study, the moon child drifted to a corner of the room and leaned against the wall. Silver eyes watched the white haired man silently. The shining hair reminded her of the bloody fox she had hated more than she’d ever say. Her hatred of him had come to almost the same level as Vincent… almost. He’d called himself such a good man, claimed to be the saint of Slytherin… but he’d attempted to murder Tay, and only aided in the descent into madness of both of them. If Ronyo had been even half the man he’d claimed to be, he would have tried to help Tay, not resented him for being the things he was… is…

”And this is Morgan, you can trust him.” She had missed his introduction of her, lost in her own thoughts. It tended to happen more often than not now a days. She got lost in her own thoughts, pulled back through time to days she’d rather ignore or forget. She tucked a piece of her behind her ear and watched Morgan silently. She accompanied Tay most everywhere, but rarely did she find the need to speak. Nor did the people he took her too, feel the need to speak to her. The quiet ‘you can trust him’ went a long way though. This was not Ronyo, and he could at least be trusted to an extent. Even so he’d come with a warning… “Don’t fall for his ******** riddles”. She was still curious what that meant. She was pretty sure the saying should be ‘Curiosity killed the snake’ with the way she continuously found her way into trouble all for curiosity’s sake. Wasn’t that how she’d gotten tangled up with Tay in the first place? He was a curiosity. Still was really.

She barely held back a sneer at the mention of red heads. There was only red head she knew from Tay’s past and she had no inclination of liking towards the girl. She would have set her on fire long ago if she’d been able too. Left her rotting in the blood fest carnival, but no…. Tay had to save her too. She licked her lips at the thought and blinked back to reality, the screams from that night still ringing loudly in her mind, distracting her from the present. Somedays she wished it would all stop, that she could silence it all. She sometimes wondered if Tay’s solution, an addiction to calming droughts, was the better way to go. The woman who’d come into Remington’s life, and then her family mysteriously died soon after. Coincidences didn’t exist in the Nott family. That was one thing she knew for a fact

Sunlight filtered through the window, it was hot on his face and breathed a long black shadow behind him. Tay stood with his back to the rest of them, allowing Michelle the grace of a wallflower, to leech her tendrils on a vine up and up and up. Morgan was trusted with the blind spot to his left and rear; slanted against his grandfather's desk and arms coiled like defenses around him. ”Of course he did,” that hadn't surprised him at all. Despite their shared blood purity and long lineage, neither family had seen fit to encourage any sort of friendship between their heirs. Likely, the Linwood's thought Tay a 'bad influence', whereas the Nott's regarded Morgan heavily with suspicion. Maybe Tay was suspicious too, but Morgan never blamed him. Sometimes he wondered if Morgan know how much he had appreciated that. ”Your grandfather has no love for me, he's made that quite clear.” Tay couldn't say he blamed the man; Gabriel Linwood would've been a fool to think otherwise. But his quarrel wasn't with that man, Tay would consider himself lucky enough if the patriarch hadn't already released half a dozen owls trying to inquire on the presence of the rotten little exile that had suddenly washed up on his shore.

”Morgan,” his tongue thrashed a warning as he turned his head to catch his gaze, but instead of taking offense like he would've intended, he quipped back with it, ”She'd say she dodged a golden bullet—and her father would too.” His vision crossed to refocus on the window, arms drawn around his chest suddenly. He hadn't thought of Cathryn in years; he had been in a study, not unlike this one, when he'd last been with her; only to leave her and make way towards the library where, by happenstance, he found Phinelia hiding; it felt like a curse then, but now? Had that been fate tipping its hat off to him? Mocking him? Heavy eyelids drooped to a close and he steadied his breathing, in and out; subconscious drowning in blood red sands and fettered hands. Leaning slightly too far to the right, he nearly swooned but regained his balance by swiveling on his heel and strode diligently back to where his cloak hung; as if he meant to do so all along. Jerky hands fumbled for the flask, Tay didn't have the luxury to hide this from Morgan—he wasn't even sure if he wanted too—everything had to be taken into consideration for this. Dearest Uncle Remy was a Legilimens; a better one than Tay could ever be in this state. ”A tragedy,” he said with a sneer, ”I'm sure it was.” He spun off the cap and brought the drought to his lips, sinking into the arm chair while he dipped his skull into his hands. ”I regret not paying more attention to the lineages of the purists; the Tempests' are hiding something, I know it. Whatever it is, he knows it too. Regardless, the death of Edgar and Lenore Tempest have drastically altered my chances—for the better or worse, I haven't decided. But... my uncle has a heir now, trueborn and pureblood.” he paused, taking a moment to wonder how many b*****d seeds had been planted, ”My first decision now is how many of mine own blood I plan to drag down with him.” At times, it was hard to blame a newborn for the mistakes of his parents, but Tay had never been given that luxury before. So why should he care? If it came down to it, he knew he wouldn't hesitate. He'd let the world burn if he could be king of the ashes. But the world didn't have to burn, only Remington. How to control the flames though, was what led Tay here in the first place. A long silence stretched as he sunk into his seat, the weeds tangling all around him. ”He murdered my mother; I won't stop until I've taken everything away from him.”

spaceAdalaide appeared with an audible crack, releasing her husband as soon as she felt their feet settle in case his transportation issue was particularly bad tonight. Jaw set tight, she waited for him to give her the go ahead, then approached the house they'd apparated before, inhaling sharply as she knocked on the front door. It had been almost too easy to get Eretria to give her the information on where to find Tay. If Ada didn't know better, she'd swear her sister-in-law might actually be starting to develop a fondness for her. Brushing the thought aside, she stepped back from the door a pace, arms crossed as she waited. She barely contained the urge to tap her foot on the ground or her fingers on her arm, feeling as though she had far too much energy buzzing through her limbs. Reminded her a bit of when she'd first been turned, actually. The adjustment from human to vampire had been an odd one. She glanced over her shoulder at Chris, glad he was at least going along with her on this instead of trying to talk her out of it or prevent her from going. If not for the fact that she was incapable of keeping secrets from him, she might've tried to manage this trip on a night he was at work and wouldn't notice she was gone. She didn't like him worrying about her. But, she was grateful for his support in this whole thing. She was still surprised he was letting Michelle stay with them, but chalked it up to the fact that the Slytherin was obviously in desperate need of help. She didn't know where else to go, couldn't send the girl home to their parents, and couldn't trust her to get help herself. So, it fell on Ada's shoulders... their shoulders, she amended. Chris was supporting her. He was helping. He might not be particularly pleased, but he wasn't fighting her on it, which she appreciated. Impatient eyes trailed back to the door; she was expecting a fight from all other sides, so it was nice to not have to deal with it from him. Hopefully, this would go smoothly enough... She didn't really know what she'd do to Tay if it didn't. At this point, she doubted it'd be pretty, which sort of scared her. But she'd never been this angry at a person before. With Vincent, she'd been too young, and more worried about Michelle and Olyvia to focus on him. In this case, though... She felt her eye twitch. Tay had better hope he didn't piss her off. Or, well. Piss her off more; she was already beyond furious with him.

Morgan had been about to retire for the evening, or at least to relax. He'd stopped by the library, intending to grab a book, when the sound of knocking brought him short and blue eyes narrowed. He certainly wasn't expecting visitors at this hour of the night, and certainly no surprise visitors. The only surprise visitor he would expect at this hour was currently tucked away in a room to himself, and had free reign over the manor as long as he didn't try and leave. Tay certainly wasn't expecting someone other than Michelle, and considering she was off doing Merlin knew what, Tay wasn't expecting her to reappear. Then again, Morgan chalked that up to Tay being unaware of what day it really was. Morgan could excuse and overlook quite a bit, but his friend's obviously agitated state of mind, his current addiction, and paranoia where certain dark witches were concerned, Morgan had every intention of making sure that the golden-eyed wizard had his head set on straight before he sent Tay off on his merry way. If the former Nott heir had come to him sooner rather than after he'd been so mentally ******** over, it wouldn't be so bad. Morgan had always had Tay's back, and currently it felt as though he were caring for his friend like old times when Storm did his little ******** to Tay. It almost made Morgan wish that the self-proclaimed Dragon of Slytherin was around, and not off gallivanting trying to pretend he was some great saviour to the wizarding world. Sorry, that honour went to Harry Potter, not some upstart halfblood that wanted to play child's games in a very adult world.

Shoving his mental beratings of Storm out of his mind for the moment, Morgan approached the door, noting with interest that Tilly was already there to open it. His wand was tucked up one sleeve, ready to draw it should their visitor prove unfriendly. His grandfather and grandmother were currently out of town, deciding to visit some friends in Germany for the week, and thankfully that meant they were unaware of Tay's presence in the manor. Not that they'd ever know. Veiled threats about freeing the house elves in the estate had worked wonders, and Tilly, while she was bound by magic to obey Gabriel Linwood, was far more loyal to Morgan. Funny how that worked out. With a nod to the house elf, he stood with his hands clasped behind his back, a smile on his face as he watched the door open.

It took him a moment or two to realize that a woman was standing on the steps, one that looked to be around Michelle's age, with honey-coloured hair and brown eyes, skin as pale as moonlight. He smiled widely, as Tilly bowed out of the way and excused herself with a small pop. Striding forward, he inclined his head toward the witch, certain that's what she was considering the wards around the estate preventing muggles from coming around.
"Well, good evening. I wasn't expecting visitors, especially so late at night. To what do I owe the pleasure, miss...?" Alarm bells were already ringing in his head, especially considering his current guest. He wasn't about to let just anyone waltz into his home, and when he knew that there was some batty psychopath that was currently trying to manipulate Tay, he wasn't about to have anyone associated with her do what they wished in his home.

She hadn't paid overmuch attention to Tay during school, but she'd paid enough. The name Eretria had given her should have clicked, but it hadn't. Unfortunately, she didn't know anything about the man, other than the fact that he was Tay's best friend. Hopefully, though, she'd find something of an ally in this, then, because if he were still Tay's best friend, and Tay was as bad as Michelle claimed, he should want to help the guy get better... right? She could only hope.

spaceShe smoothed her skirt, the very image of a prim young woman, an attempt on her part to look utterly non-threatening. She highly doubted she'd be allowed inside to see Tay if she was suspected of being a threat, and while she and Chris could probably manage to find their way in regardless, it would take time and energy she didn't want to waste. When he fished for her name, she briefly debated with herself over what name to give him. It wasn't entirely inconceivable that her maiden name would be recognized, either because Michelle had mentioned her or her family, or because he'd remember her from school. She had been Michelle's best friend, after all, and Michelle had been utterly obsessed with Tay. His friend might've made note of the Slytherin girl and who she kept company with... it was a short list. Comprising entirely of herself and Tay, actually. Probably a slim chance, but still there. And then there was a certain weight that the Whitethorne name carried with it, particularly among their age group... Namely, people associated it with Eretria. Which could be a good or bad thing, considering. In the end, though, she opted for the latter; she was a Whitethorne, after all. "Whitethorne... Adalaide. I'm sorry about the hour... couldn't be helped. But, I'm here about a... visitor of yours?" She barely resisted the urge to chew her lip, not wanting to flash fang. Vampire didn't exactly scream non-threatening, after all.

spaceShe brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, then figured that the simplest, and probably most effective, way to go about this, was the truth. It usually was, in spite of what many people thought. She was still hoping that Morgan would be more interested in helping Tay than keeping him cloistered up and out of sight. "Tay Nott? I was told I could find him here... Promised a very good friend I'd check in on him for her. She's... not well enough to do it herself." An uncomfortable shift of her weight from one foot to the other punctuated the sentence. Not well didn't even begin to describe it. "Michelle, she's... staying with me. Until she's... improved. But, she's worried about him. I promised to keep an eye on him in her stead." 'Keep an eye on him' she was using loosely, to be perfectly honest. Depending on how bad of shape she found him in, she might be less keeping an eye on him and more slapping him upside his head. If he was in poor enough shape that she actually felt sorry for him, it'd be a different story... But honestly, he'd better be as bad off as Michelle, if not worse. Otherwise she might snap.

Morgan cocked an eyebrow at the name she gave him while trying to appear non-threatening. Morgan could have laughed, but refrained, his smile splitting into a grin as he eased over and leaned against the doorway. Now, Whitethorne was a name he didn't hear that often. There was of course Eretria Whitethorne, the captain of England and current up and comer in a lot of shady dealings. Though, from all he'd heard, it was more information that she brokered in, nothing more. Then there was Tay's uncle's friend, Deveron Whitethorne, who was pretty infamous for philandering and drinking. And finally, Gearvin Whitethorne, who as he had heard was a blood traitor and married to a halfblood witch. There was the matter of the squib children, and Morgan was trying to figure out which Adalaide was married to, as he knew for a fact that one of the squibs had married and had children. Probably both of them, as both did happen to be his own age. He hummed nonchalantly, looking briefly at his nails before he looked at Adalaide. "There's a lot of visitors here, you'd have to be a bit more specific. MY grandfather has plenty of people coming in and out, as does my grandmother. I'm just their humble obedient grandson." He crossed his arms and grinned, thinking that this was actually amusing. He was working through which Whitethorne she was affiliated with, and refused to let that go.

When Adalaide finally revealed the name of his visitor, he paused in his musings and really looked her over. So this was Michelle's friend, hrm? Apparently they both had failed in their duties as best friends, Morgan for not tying Tay down and actually making him think for once, and Adalaide for letting Michelle go. Now the both of them were fixing the mess that their respective friends were in. He tsked, however, shaking his head. No matter what, he knew that Tay still had plenty of enemies, and he wasn't willing to expose Tay to it.
"I'm sorry, there's no Tay Nott here. I haven't seen him for years, actually. Not since we graduated. Maybe he's at his beach house, hrm? Or perhaps he's elsewhere. I don't know, he doesn't send me letters that often." He considered his own statements, and then decided to add on one last thing, considering the conversation closed. "If she's as bad as you say, perhaps he is too. Should I see him again, I'll see for myself, and if he needs help, I'll provide it for him."

spaceAdalaide cocked her brow at Morgan. She was getting so. Bloody. Sick. Of Slytherins. They could never take the easy route, could they? Never just out and say what they meant, never tell the truth, never be honest and forthcoming and bloody helpful. It was absolutely bloody maddening. The 'humble obedient grandson' bit nearly made her snort, but she held it in. Given his affiliation with Tay, she'd wager that he was anything but humble and obedient. "Actually, I'd say it's perfect you were the one to answer the door," she replied, tone a bit dry. "Given that he'd be your guest, not theirs. And something tells me 'visitor' is actually a bit loose of a term." She wondered... Obedient. Hah. Did his grandparents even know he was housing his friend? Did they even know he was still friends with Tay at all? ... Doubtful, she figured. He wasn't exactly someone who'd be welcome in most supposedly proper households. Not with the mess he'd made.

spaceShe clicked her tongue in distaste when he lied; even if Tay wasn't here now, he'd been here recently... she could smell him. It wasn't hard; his scent had been all over Michelle. Her skin, her hair, her clothes. She recognized it easily enough; it lingered, not necessarily all that strong, but there, nonetheless. Besides, she was more than willing to bet that he was here now, and simply hadn't used the front door in a few days. Morgan was probably hiding him. She wanted to be annoyed, but couldn't quite manage it; the optimistic part of her assumed he was protecting his friend. It wasn't like she couldn't be the one lying, after all. Still, she didn't exactly have time for this. "Hm, now, see. This would be easier if you would tell the truth," she replied easily, crossing her arms to stare up at him. "Even if he wasn't here now... which I suspect he is, but assuming not, he was still here recently. Michelle was with him. Unless... you're calling her a liar. But, then, given that I know you've seen her condition, I would assume you know she's barely capable of making sense when she speaks, let alone keeping lies straight. And she'd hardly send me somewhere on a wild goose chase, since she does actually want me to check on him."

spaceHer eyes narrowed on the white-haired man, and she clicked her tongue again. "Is that what you're doing, then? Keeping him holed up in here to help him?" Again, that optimistic side of her said that's exactly what he was doing. Probably trying to help him sort out whatever mess the idiot had made of his own mind. Well, that just meant that she didn't have to worry about doing it herself... she did still need to see the man, though. Michelle wouldn't accept it if she didn't lay her own two eyes on him to verify that he hadn't managed to somehow get himself killed in the time she'd been away from his side. "I really do need to see him. Whatever you're doing to help, I don't care. But I need to see him so I can tell her I kept my promise. I'm a terrible liar. She'll know." If he really was trying to look after Tay, get the man's head on straight, she'd be happy to leave him to it. One less thing she had to worry about. She couldn't promise she wouldn't yell at him for getting that bad in the first place once he was lucid enough to notice, but she did want him to get better. For Michelle's sake. She knew her own idiot friend well enough to know that nothing she did to help the girl would stick if he was still losing it.
