Valentino is strong, gentle, kind-hearted Soquili with a silver tongue; he is charming and highly flirtatious. Unfortunately he has a tendency to over flirt and often his charm has landed him in some strangely uncomfortable situations. Luckily for him he is often able to clear up any misunderstandings with the same silver tongue that got him into it. He sees the best in other Soquili and has a compliment for everyone, but rarely does he have one for himself. He judges his mistakes and himself very harshly. He is loyal to a fault and takes care of those that are close to him with the fiercest protective nature, but lacks the foresight and ability to take care of his own needs. He has a bad habit of stomping his hooves up and down lightly when he's thinking, nervous or uncomfortable.
Valentino was born into a well-to-do family of gemstone and feather merchants. He lived with his mother, father and older sister until he was an adolescent. On his very first trip out with the family to peddle their wares, he became separated from his parents and sister. A terrible fire broke out in the section of forest that they were traveling through. Valentino whom was not familiar with the route that his family and he would be taking to and from their home became lost in the panic. He survived the fire, just barely, because he was found by a family of Usdia. They were not much better off than he was, but they took him in, nursed him back to health and raised him to adulthood as if he was their own. They taught him that family was more than just who's blood you share-- It's about who you love and who loves you in return. He couldn't help but love the family that took him in and raised him as their own and took it upon himself to look after them as they had looked after him. With the support of his new family he survived the cruelest things the world could throw at him with a gentle hoof and charming prance.
He grew into a fine stallion and his days were filled with laughter and merriment, but something nagged at his heart. Even though his tiny family meant so very much to him, there was still a sliver in his heart that pined for his birth family. A part of him that wished and hoped that they too had made it out of the fire. Once he became old enough to completely look after himself, he kissed his mother, father and all his siblings farewell. He was going to look for his birth family, but he promised to return if he had found them or not, because family was more than blood. With the new chance at life he had been given, he took all the love and lessons they had given him wrapped around him like a blanket and set to work tracking the family from his distant past. By doing so he hopes that he can finally fill that empty space in his heart where his birth family had once been. |
