Catchy Tunes - Odd's Legendary Quest

[Requiem of Whyspers]

Odd had finished talking to Sub, gotten the information he needed thanks to the Dark channeler and was currently in his room, collecting some supplies. He grabbed the Pokeballs for Adagio, Treble, Baroque, Chorale, Beat and of course Cadenza, as the Shedinja was a mandatory party member. Is was impossible to channel with too great a distance between them, after all. He made sure to grab the Master Ball he and Lykas had stashed away a long time ago. Lykas had said he wanted to use it on a Phione but he'd never even met anyone that really knew were to look for one. Plus, was Phione even a legendary Pokemon at all or was it just incredibly rare?

Whether or not he was still thinking of such things wasn't clear when he finally left his room. He had all the supplies he could think of that he might need for this journey and as much money as he had managed to save up from the various missions he'd done over hi tenure with Snagem.(Thank the heavens GRAY hadn't known about that when he was complaining about paying rent.) Taking his Hoverboard, he headed out and jumped on. He wanted his Pokemon as rested as possible for when and if he happened across his mark. Leaving Mt. Silver, he headed to Olivine City and bought a boat ticket to Unova, knowing that he would end his trip in Castelia City. It was Unova's primary port, after all. Undella Town very rarely saw ships as more than a passing tour boat or a cruise liner heading out of the region's local waters from Castelia.

Once aboard the ship, he found his room and started wandering around. Things were simple enough for now. Once he knew the ship had left port, he went out into the dining hall to get a bite to eat and attempt to find some information along the way.

"You ever get a song stuck in your head? There's no words to i, just some catchy little tune that keeps playing in your thoughts over and over and sometimes you get a few extra notes at the end and it gets a little longer?"

"Yeah. Everyone does once in a while, right?"

"Well, some people say that's Meloetta hiding nearby and trying to see if you remember it's song." The young woman Odd had been talking to was adamant in that respect.

"But that happens all over the world. Does Meloetta ever leave the Unova region?" Odd asked, taking a bite of a rather flaky croissant. The buttery, messy pastry was delicious in spite of the bread crumb mess it was making. It defied his every attempt to keep his eating it neat so he'd given up ages ago.

"Nobody's sure of that. Some say there are islands way out off the coast of Undella that it hides on sometimes but it' been so long since the last time it was seen that there's really no telling." The girl said, lifting her spoon lazily and slowly stirring her soup. "I hear there's an old man who plays guitar at Cafe Sonata on Narrow Street who actually knows real facts about Meloetta. But nobody's seen him there actually playing in months. They just hear his music sometimes."

"Hm...." Odd was forced to pause for a moment there. That was definitely a haunting she had just told him about. People hearing sounds that seem to come from nowhere was usually a really good sign. The questions he was faced with were becoming no less numerous as he sought answers, only changing their topic for now. Such as: Was the cafe in question being haunted by the Wordsmith Sub had told him about or someone else if it was at all? If it was the Wordsmith, was the haunting residual or intelligent? "Thank you. That gives me at least a place to start looking when I get there. I only knew of Castelia in general when I boarded the ship." He told the woman, shaking her hand politely in thanks before he walked off. This was going to be.....Interesting.

It took a while before the Channeler was able to spark up a conversation with another passenger who knew anything of his quest. When he finally did find them, though, they were far less pleasant than the last. "Meloetta is not to be tamed by human hands. She is creativity incarnate. Without her to inspire mankind, all forms of art screech to a grinding halt. Remember the dark ages, when art was all but forgotten and man trudged onward to his grave with no light in his eyes nor hope in his heart." Was all the man said to Odd before fading back into the bustling crowd, wanting nothing more to do with him.

"Crazy..." Odd muttered to himself as he moved around a bit more. It was beginning to get late by now and the ship wouldn't dock until tomorrow morning at least so he returned to his room for now.

Odd remained in his room on the ship until it had docked in Castelia City at long lang, trying to work out a plan of action. All he had so far was a possible haunting in the city to investigate and hope it was the spirit of the man Sub had told him about that could tell him more of Meloetta's origins.

Upon arrival, the channeler disembarked from the ship, and began to wander the town in search of the place he was looking for. It took him nearly all day to find it but when he did, he found it to be closed already. "Is it really that late?" He asked himself, looking at the clock on his SNAG. IT read 2:04 AM.

"Jeez! Does this city ever sleep?!" He asked in shock, realizing only now that he hadn't even seen the light dim as the sun set and the streets were still filled with people.
