For centuries, the three kingdoms of the land have been content. They have traded with one another, fought battles with and for each other, they have lived in harmony with each region's choices and actions. The land of humans is hard-working and versatile, never really sticking their noses into the others business. They are kind-hearted and take care of their own. They are less magically inclined but are strong-willed and can overcome most obstacles. The land of the beasts is a cruel one. They enjoy meddling in others affairs and many of the people take to pestering the other lands in their spare time. They wield magic in concentrated forms and are nothing to be trifled with. And then there is the middle kingdom, filled with mixtures of both regions and evolved from decades of interbreeding. They are both kind and harsh, weak and strong, they are the true middle ground of the other two regions and their mannerisms show it. Those is the land of the mixed breeds are less likely to be accepted in the other kingdoms, though they are far more open to newcomers from said regions.
Despite raging for nearly two decades now, the war has only just begun. The humans are tired of the threat the beasts provide them with, they are disgusted by the actions of their peers and are ready to put an end to it. The beasts fight back with malice - something the humans know too well from these creatures. Caught in the middle, much of the mixed land have split.. picking sides in the war and some buckling down to protect their own land. With secrets to unfold and tensions high, how will two young adventurers deal with the rage and turmoil of constant war?

vampiricqueen
Quote: Name: Aurum Vala Age: Twenty-two Race: Dragon Alliance: Beast Biography: Always a trouble-maker, Aurum was one to run off and explore when she was supposed to be in training. Her life has been a fairly easy one - with four older siblings she wasn't exactly a top priority. Which was completely fine with her, she spent the time finding a nice cave and amassing a hoard of her own. The war has been raging since she was young, and for her everyday life just brings new challenges and adventures. Her family means less to her than her life of exploring, but she is loyal to her people and would do anything to protect them. She asked to join in the royal army when she first became of age, but was denied for various reasons.. mostly her unreliability to even show up. Personality: Quick with a sharp reply, this gentle looking dragon could easily knock someone down a few notches. Aurum loves an obstacle, she'll do anything to overcome something she has yet to. Protective of her hoard and her pride, she will rarely back down from a fight. When meeting new people, she is generally wary but is considered to be far less cruel than her kin. Most think her personality is rebellious from being so far down the line.. but she likes having the perks without all the responsibility. Weapons: Of course, the most obvious - claws, tail, teeth, and fire-breathing (inherited from her father's side). But being a beast, she is very skilled in magic. Fire being her innate ability, she has focused on elemental magic and has thus far become proficient in each element, though each has its own limit, with water being her weakest. She can use various other magics, including paralysis and telekinesis, but is far less skilled in these attributes. When in humanoid form she carries a small, plain dagger. Beast Appearance: xxHumanoid Appearance: xxOther: Aurum likes to stay in her draconic domain most days - close to the borders where the three regions briefly meet. The perch is mid-high in a dense mountain and covered well by the surrounding nature. Stumbling upon it would be no easy feat, and she is careful to enter it only while in her humanoid form so as not to alert the watch posts from each kingdom. Shiningdragon
Quote: Name: Kaelthas Vanailin Age: 27 Race: Human? Alliance: Human Biography: Born a quick study. Kael who is currently in line for the throne after his father, is the current prince of the human kingdom. Unlike many a prince during their lives, Kaelthas took more to a blade and spell then wine and companionship. Born into a world already at war he payed little attention towards it. Being the prince during most of his life kept him within the castle many a years. While he is slotted to become to king should his father die, he sees it as neither good nor bad and simply shrugs at the thought of it. Personality: Observant, quiet, and calm. Kael isn't one in a battle to let his emotions get the best of him. Outside of the heat of battle he is usually quick witted with a sharp tongue and isn't above using honeyed words to get his way. More of a silver tongue then a brass knuckle, he prefers to speak his way from conflict or finish it with a spell. Weapons: Being the prince Kael is quite skilled with both bow and blade and usually carries both. Unlike his father, Kael has had a knack for magic since birth. Training under the court mages he has become a strong user of water, electricity, and wind elemental magical spells. He holds a deal of skill with enchantment and illusions, mostly learned as a way to combat boredom then anything. Appearance: xx Other: Even tho he is the current prince, and next in line for the throne. He is not one to stay within the castle or even kingdom's boundaries. He has on many occasions left with a spell to hide himself.

With one hand up to shield the rising sun from her eyes, and the other firmly planted on the ground for balance, Aurum dangled her legs over the edge of her private getaway. Crimson orbs watched over the landscape almost curiously, mapping out all the places she would like to one day visit. With battles being fought far away from the royals, it took coming this far (to the edges of each territory) to even hear the roars of war, let alone see the rage of the soldiers. With her enhanced eyes, she could see faint figures of her kind soaring through the skies.. she could just barely hear their battle cries if she strained her long ears for it. Instead, though, she watched the villages around the borders, how they seemed to work and coexist despite the war. Maybe it had just been going on for much too long, maybe these souls had become tired of it and decided living in harmony was easier than fighting. Aurum wasn't sure what really started the war in the first place, but she had lived in it her whole live. Glancing back at her ever-growing pile of gold and valuable items, the girl decided it was a fair trade-off: living ignored to gain her own riches. She laid back on her perch with her arms stretched above her head, soaking in the growing sunlight. Let them fight, She thought, giving a quiet yawn. More loot for me.

A roar called out in the distance. Around him bodies lay tattered. Long gashes were dug deep in each corpse. The taste of copper filled the air around him. A single figured stood it the center of it. The figure covered head to toe in blood stood the lone survivor. Blood red eyes gazed over the sea of bodies as a white toothed grin etched it's way across the black visage. In the right hand of the figure a head hung. It's face turned in grimace and horror likely ripped from it's body in one movement. "It's only a matter of time" the visage said throwing the head to the side. As it rolled to stop the Kings face was finally visible. As soon as the face was visible the figure lunged forwards. It's blood red eyes seeming to dance in the darkness as it was in a moment face to face with it's watcher.
A wicked cry filled the room as Kaelthas woke from his slumber with a start. His body coated in a layer of sweat from the nightmare. How many times had he seen such a dream over his life. Each time seemed as real as the last. His breath was quick as his grey eyes darted round the room. They were taking in his surrounding quick to help distance his mind from the dream as rapid as possible. After a few moments his breathing slowed finally to a normal pace.
It had become almost a normality with the young prince to have such a dream at least once a full moon. Now tho the moon had long since set and outside the first rays of light began to push thru his room's window. The Inn he had taken shelter in the night prior offering at least such a commodity. "Never a reprieve" the young prince muttered before throwing the cover's from his body. Escaping the kingdom the days prior had been an easy success, tho as would usually be. Once he returned home he would never hear the end of it. Stationed in an Inn in the middle kingdom near the borders, the young prince sat, about to prepare for the day.
It didn't take him much time to clean up after the nightmare. With a new set of clothing and his coin purse secure, he walked towards his door. "Ateata Vastuiel" he muttered pushing the door open as a glimmer fell upon him. Being the prince of the human's kingdom, it would have been a difficult task to stay hidden from the eyes of most. For Kaelthas, Now a brown haired, green eyed, youth. Such a thing as vanishing into a crowd was an easy thing to do as he set out towards the boarder.

It wasn't long before the woman became drowsy from the sunlight, and she sat back up with another soft yawn, pushing up with one hand and rubbing her eyes with the other. Yearning to bask in her gold before departure, Aurum swung her legs onto the surface and stood with another stretch toward the sun. Even with her arms far above her head, she was a small figure in the distance, if even a figure at all to some. Covered with the trees and vines of the world around her, she had kept well hidden here on and off for over seven years. No human dared to cross to her side, and no dragon wanted to be so near to the other kingdoms.. it was a nice little hole away from the world. Aurum retreated some into her sanctuary, a whirl of color and mist surrounding her for mere seconds before revealing a towering beast, letting out a hot breath of air as she gave her head a small shake. Damn dust, She thought, head much closer to the collecting particles on the ceiling. She submerged herself in her coins and items gently, letting out a pleased growl as she sunk into the pile. Such a typical dragon she was, but she was a happy one. Another deep growl emitted from her cave and she closed her eyes yet again, soaking in the bliss before she would return back to her castle.

Leaving the town now that had been his home the night prior. Kaelthas headed now towards the boarder. The suns rays shone strong now in the sky, it's radiant beams warming and quickening his steps. Being away from the castle was some of the few enjoyments the prince held in his time about these lands. The war, so glaring in the distance, was in these parts more of a reality. As he closed in on the boarder from the east, to the north the fires of war, evident in the distance, burned wild. Even at a greater distance, the taste of copper was strong. At one point the beast and human's war was atop the lands he currently crossed.
It mattered little to him currently as he pulled a map from his clothing. Coming to a stop he perused it for a few moments, every so often glancing up towards the sky. His eyes fell too on the surrounding area. He was getting his lay of the land he now crossed. It would still be some time before he reached the location he was heading towards. With the sun warming his steps and a light breeze coaxing his travels tho he seemed to care little as he continued on.

Aurum gave her large body a slight shift, choosing to be on her side and mostly covered in the hoard. She did have some form of organization to it.. gold wherever, non magical items in the front, magical weapons and charms underneath her, and all her books (magical or otherwise) were behind her hoard, stacked randomly or not at all. Her body and natural cave walls blocked the view of them, but they were certainly there. The dragon let out another heated huff through her nostrils, but the air she sucked in tasted different. Much like a threat, the dragon let out a deep rumble, the gold around her vibrating against her body. It was a warning to those that came too near to her, for an enemy you could hear and feel, but not see, was a mighty enemy indeed. With one eye cautiously watching the entrance to her home away from home, Aurum found herself almost hoping for something. What, exactly, she wasn't sure.. but be it a fight or food, she was ready.

Nearing the border now, the trek had taken less time the it felt. Something about the warmth of the sun spurred on his steps. "It should be close" he muttered the map again pulled out. Ahead of him the forest lay stretched out. What was likely the clear line of boarders between the middle and beast kingdoms. Finding the border was the easier part but now that he had neared it finding what exactly he had come for would be hard.
A rumble shook Kaelthas from his thoughts. It felt like the earth itself was vibrating beneath him. An earthquake? No from the rapidness of the vibrations it was likely a beast and a large one at that. "Likely to be guarding the area" he muttered holding his hand to the side. "Vidra Asura" he muttered as one of the pieces of jewelry he wore shone bright. In a flash the trinket formed into a jade dove perched in his palm. "Find the sound" he muttered tossing the creature upwards as it gave a strong flap before soaring off.
It didn't take to long for the gem to return as it shifted back into it's jewelry form after showing him what it had found. "A cave? This close to the boarder?" Looking off towards the direction the bird had directed him, Kaelthas gathered his thoughts. What he was looking could vary well be within that cave. Creature or not he was heading now towards the cave at a hurried but cautious pace. The forest seeming to spring up around him now in mere moments. The Mountainside under the cave seemed to be infront of him mere seconds afterwards.
He had been careful as soon as he had entered the forest to cast a new illusion on himself. His form had faded in and out of the shadows of the underbrush. Getting up to what was likely the opening of the cave would be a bit of a climb. "A disadvantage" he muttered putting a hand on the mountain side. Like any rock formation it help places where he could scale to get to his destination. It would just take some time to do.

The stranger grew closer and closer, but the beast was not to be toyed with. Another low noise came from Aurum, but to another dragon it would sound like a groan. The feel of magic was close, and when a jade dove came flying into her lair and out again, she felt it might be time to find out just what was coming. She righted herself and stood on all fours, allowed her hoard to shower down her body before taking only a few enormous steps toward the mouth of her lair. Being the curious sort that she was, she simply laid on her stomach at the edge, allowing a forearm to hang down as she stared toward the human. Another vibration shook the human, but this one was more in spurts. Chuckling down to the man, the dragon seemed to be taunting him. "Do you need help?" Came a deep and amused voice that might shake him as well. After all, she was quite a massive beast. She wondered what was so worth the risk of coming up here for the human.. but she sniffed again and there was something else there. Perhaps this was no mere human at all, or maybe the magic was doing something to her senses. She watched the man expectantly, as if he was going to answer a dragon.

Another earth moving vibration shook him. The creature, it was evident, knew that he was there. By sense of smell or hearing, which he was unsure. That didn't mattered as Kaelthas took a step back from the mountain face. A second much stronger force almost shook him off his feet. The more sporadic vibrations likely meant the creature was moving. A fact that became assured as his eyes drew upwards. His previous notions on what kind of creature it could was, turned in the worst of ways. Staring down at him now, a dragon, one of the strongest beasts the he knew of.
A rather peculiar thing happened tho as the two stared at one another. The beasts questioned him, rather then outright attacked. It's voice alone was enough to shake him to his core. That the creature wasn't attacking outright meant that it was at the least intelligent. The worst case was it was thinking of sizing him as it's next meal. 'Should I attempt to kill the beast outright? These beasts are tough but not unkillable. Would it even understand anything more then common words?' Several thoughts filled the man's mind as he stared up at the dragon with orbs of grey. "A book" Kaelthas said up towards the dragon. He would see how things would play out before making a decision on the beast.

"I have many," Came a short reply, but the reptile smiled slyly, amused at herself. Aurum had no doubt in her mind what sort of books might be worth his trouble - the magic around him gave that away well enough. He sought more power from her many pages, but the dragon was far too proud of her hoard to let it go easily.. or at all. "Perhaps you should come closer, we can discuss what tome you seek," With that, the dragon lifted her dangling claw and stood back up, turning and moving back into her lair with a flick of her scaly tail. She wondered how long it would take him - the easiest way was to just levitate and use the trees to move right into her cave, but most chose to climb the height and most fell. Sadly, though.. not most were as tasty as she had hoped. Aurum positioned herself laying upright and facing the mouth, placing herself in front of her hoard and blocking the view to the rest of the cavern. She crossed one large claw over the other, waiting patiently for the adventurer to either arrive or die. The dragon hoped for the former, as it was rare they made it even this far without becoming a meal.

That was, not the response that Kael was expecting from the dragon. It was being almost hospitible, if not respectful to him. Something felt off, many of the tomes and books he had read of dragons labeled them as hostile. That this one was offering him to come to her cave troubled him some. From what he could tell from what had seen of her the cave was likely larger. It was also his best advantage and disadvantage should she attack him. With the confined spaces she would have difficulty moving but his own movements would be limited as well.
"Fine." he muttered taking a few steps back from the mountains face looking upwards. "Aveo Latviana" he muttered before leaping upwards. A blast of wind propelling him in a single leap to cave entrance almost it seemed without effort. He landed gracefully and easily at the caves mouth. It was as large if not larger then he had expected now that he was close. "Now then about the tome" Kaelthas called his voice rising somewhat as he stood there. Currently he dare not venture into the cave. While his first impressions were much different then the dragon's he had red of, she still could prove vicious.

Ah, so the man was intelligent enough to take the magical route. Her crimson eyes watched the newcomer with cautious interest, and the woman picked up her right arm and turned it over so that the palm of her claws faced Kael, she motioned with one monstrous claw for him to come forward. "Now, now," Mocked the beast, grinning all the while. "This is my home. Tell me what powers you seek and what you may offer in its place." Straight to the point. She valued her books, as they were kept from her main horde. He could certainly hear the gems and gold of her pride shimmer and tumble as she laid her tail on the pile almost protectively, rather than keeping it close to her body as she had been. He's a brave one, Thought Aurum, amused with the human. Perhaps if he had nothing worthwhile to offer, she would take it all and kill him. It was the easiest way to keep her book and gain new riches.. Keeping that in close thought was probably not safe for his future. She let out a small puff of flame as she waited, shifting her tail slightly and causing more riches to move around it, submerging the scales just barely.
