"Lailah, it's good to see you," Neema said, offering a smile when she found her sister standing alone. She had so many questions for her twin, knew she was in a precarious situation so close to the top in a pride at war.. but wondered how she could stay out of it when there was so much to fight for. Since nobody was here, she decided to take advantage of it and ask..
"What are your thoughts on the war within the pride, sister?" she asked, "Surely you--"
Her question was cut off when Antara appeared, offering a bow and gentle greeting. It was apparent that Neema was immediately and entirely distracted with the younger lioness present, and she offered a sad smile in return.
"Actually," she said, cutting her own thoughts off, "I'm here to see you, Antara."

Neema watched as Antara reacted and Lailah tried to excuse herself. She nodded with the younger lioness tried to encourage the shaman to stay. Neema was as stubborn as Lailah, and she definitely wanted her sister to stay for this.. in part for Antara, and in part for the pride.
"You better stay," she said, looking at her sister sternly, "You will want to hear this, too."
She turned back to Antara and hesitated another moment. This was harder than she anticipated, she had unexpectedly lost family members but not to death. Because of the threat of death, yes, and by the same king.. but this was so much more complicated.
"Anatara, dear," she said carefully, "I'm here to take you home, to your mother. You won't be coming back as Lailah's apprentice, you're not safe here. The king has begun to strike back against the rebels, I'm sorry to inform you that Umepatwa has been killed."

While Lailah froze, Neema stepped closer to Antara to offer what little comfort a kind stranger could. She was close beside Antara, much too close if she were to insist on maintaining personal space, but close enough to help if she needed to physically lean upon someone. Her sad eyes moved back to Lailah.
"It sounds like the king had Tyfu's bastards sent to put him down," she said gently, a cold look coming over her eyes, "He may have misjudged his odds.. Chunyue was at the strike, though he said little."
It was her only guess, and she had yet to decide if they ought to have seen it coming. Chunyue said nothing, but if he harbored a sincere loathing for the event, he had hidden it well. He seemed harmless at the time, curious even. A softer frown returned to her face when she looked back to Antara.
"Your mother is at her den, and someone has been sent to collect your sister," she said, apparently knowing a great deal of the goings-on, including the existence of Nketa, "I'm going to suggest you all move to a less familiar area once you're together again, but I suspect that's going to become common."

"It seems as if this is a time for you to be with your family, Antara," Lailah said finally, looking from one lioness to the other. They didn't want to clarify whatever secret they were keeping, fine. The Shaman had some suspicions.
"I'll leave you to it, so long as you don't neglect your duties," she informed the younger female. Though it was a question of how long the Shaman would be able to keep regular lessons while this chaos gradually consumed the pride. For the time being she would try to retain some semblance of normalcy. Lailah retreated, leaving the other two alone.
So...Antara had a sister. One which had apparently been kept secret from the pride. It seemed logical to assume that it was the sister and not her Apprentice who was the eldest of the lot - Shangyue's eldest high class child. Why else go through all this deception?
Birth was no guarantee, though, when it came to the throne. Hadn't the reigning King already proved that? His own mother, Selene, had never actually become Queen though she'd been born and raised to it. A pity, Lailah would have preferred her.
