Young Rebels into Action

User Image

Like the other rebels, the younger group founded by the late Umepatwa, was holding a meeting of their own. Despite being a much smaller group, it was harder to get them gathered together.. and there was some debate about if it was worthwhile missing the major meeting. But Kimondo had all of the information she needed about that from her mother, she had a good guess of what the outcome would be.

They needed their own plan. That's what this group had been created for, what Umepatwa had wanted.. of course he supported the rebellion, but he had always said his plan was to get to the King himself. Whether or not he meant that was impossible to know now, but they had to do something more than mess with the Royal Family and plant flowers.

Was there something a smaller group of lesser known faces could do that the other couldn't? They had to talk about that!

Notes

  • Everybody is welcome but this is primarily open to any lion born after Shangyue took the throne.
  • This is an opportunity for the Youth Rebel group to formulate their own plan for taking back the pride! What they think they can accomplish that the other rebels can't remains to be seen.

  • With Umepatwa dead, his best friend Tamaa (Excited Apathy) has become the leader of the Youth Rebellion, though he has been distracted by getting revenge for their fallen friend. Kimondo (Ecavi) has remained a steadfast pacifist to this point but has helped keep track of everybody that is a part of this group. Both would be known to the entire group, and heard of by any newly joining members (come and play, Meshach spawn~ >3 )

User Image Iki'renkli had multiple reasons for following Tamaa and Kimondo when they said they were having their own meeting, leaving the older lions to theirs. She wasn't that much older than the two were (and Umepatwa had been, may he rest in peace), and was much more interested in doing something at this point in time.

Not to mention that she'd seen not only her grandfather, but her maybe-crazy-maybe-sane older sister going to the other meeting. Early, of course. Not that Iki was going to be late to this one, but she'd sauntered a bit more slowly on her way.

"So, what's the plan?" she asked the leaders of the Youth Rebellion.

If you had asked Tamaa, he would have been the first to say that he was no leader. He was the sidekick, the wingman, putting others at ease and making sure that Umepatwa didn't lose sight of what he was fighting for. That was what friends did, and he'd been more than happy to fill that role. Then Ume had died--had been murdered--and Tamaa wasn't sure where he fit into anything anymore. Grief, anger, and guilt had consumed him. His best friend had died alone, and he should have been there to even the odds. Instead...Tamaa was left trying to avenge him.

That wasn't going well. Tyfu's brood were slippery bastards, and when they were caught in a fight it wasn't with him.

He'd been tempted, at first, to let the others figure it out on their own as he kept hunting. Surely there was someone better at heading this thing than him! But regardless of whether he felt suited to this role or not, he couldn't do that to the rebellion that Ume had fought for...died for. He'd try the best he could with this, and maybe his efforts would do Ume proud. And maybe, just maybe, they'd avenge Umepatwa on the lion who'd ordered his death. Avenge his fallen friend, take back the pride, and make changes to keep this kind of thing from happening again. Good goals. So he might be reluctant, but he was here.

Uncharacteristically somber and grim (though it was a demeanor all-too-familiar for him as of late), he shuffled his paws as Iki'renkli asked what their plans were. Before Ume's death, there'd been ideas of using Yueyun as an in, even if only for information...but was that still valid anymore? "I'm not sure," he admitted, lavender eyes sliding away from the hunt leader's blue ones.

User Image While initially coming off as quiet and meek, Ahava sought to prove, tonight, that she could be anything but. Generations of history ran through her blood, and her own cousin sullied that proud history. Umepatwa had been a beacon of hope, in her eyes, to fix that. Now he was gone, lost to his father's quest to stay in charge. "The obvious plan would be to kill Shangyue, but he's expecting that at this point." She paced, trying to think of something... New, unique. Something Shangyue wouldn't see coming. Admittedly, she had gotten a bit out of the loop on everything, busy as she was hunting. "Has anybody tried to get to him through Liuhe..?"

The group was so small but there was no point to delay starting, especially since there was no patience for it. Kimondo smiled thinking of Umepatwa.. it was his impatience that got them all together, his determination to get this done. He was gone but his spirit was right here, they were all a reflection of that same hope.

Her gaze moved from Iki to the uncertain Tamaa-- and finally to Ahava. She took a deep breath and shoved her feelings about Liuhe and his potential involvement deep down inside of her.

"Liuhe won't help kill his father, Yueyun has been working with us and I don't even know if he would," she said firmly, though looking disappointed, "But you're right.. only death will stop Shangyue, and without him, what few loyal followers he has left won't get anywhere.."

It had seemed like such a short time ago that Hodari and her sister were planting moon flowers by the lake. It had been her sister that recommended Hodari seek out the Youth Rebellion and speak to their leader Umepatwa about how she could help the cause. Hodari, while her doubts were cleared about who she was rooting for, took too long in deciding to approach the Youth Rebellion leader for when she went to search for him, she discovered the news of his death.

She was worried that the rebellion would disband without a leader, but once she caught wind of their meeting tonight, she knew that she was going and that was the end of it. Besides, she was certain to find her sister there, maybe even her other siblings. She had spent an embarrassing amount of time on the sidelines, so now was the time to get caught up on what was going on...Oh, and to figure out a plan to stop Shangyue, of course.

When she arrived at the meeting place, she looked around to see that her sister was there and speaking. Already the tone of the matter at hand was a serious one and she approached her sister and offered her a smile, before gazing around at the others. Hodari had been trained as a Guard, a protector... Not a battle strategist, but maybe she could put in her input somewhere down the road, if she thought of anything.

Tamaa frowned at Ahava's suggestion. Yueyun was one thing, but he thought that the heir would have far more reason to uphold what had become the status quo. If Shangyue was deposed, Liuhe's succession was no longer a given. Even so, he was surprised at the certainty with which Kimondo confirmed his own thoughts. Did she know something? "Maybe...damn it, we need some kind of opening." His claws extended, digging into the earth, and he shook his head. "He doesn't like to get his own claws dirty, so if we can keep his guards from being around somehow..."

User Image "What if we distracted the guards with my sister?" Iki offered idly. "She can bleat at them about the Great Lion abandoning us, then kill them when they object." The Hunt Leader was still unnerved by Nyeusi's questionable sanity, but her sister did have a proven track record. Her insane ramblings could attract a great deal of attention on some days. And apparently they'd all been severely underestimating her skill in combat.

With Mari's death and Chunyue's injuries to her account, Nyeusi seemed like a great lioness to volunteer. But since she wasn't here, Iki'renkli would just do it for her.

Kimondo sighed, looking from a thoughtful Tamaa to the very aggressive Iki. It was quite a plan to try to distract the guards by killing them.. she was hesitant to support the idea of killing any more lions than necessary. At what point did they become just as bad as Shangyue?

Her gazes shifted to her sister and stayed there for a moment, remembering the conversation they had had.

"Maybe if we can distract the guards, we don't need to kill them," she said uncertainly, looking back at Iki, "Not if we can get to the King in that time."

The suggestion made it riskier.. at best they succeeded in killing the King, at worst their strongest, most capable members would be made known while ultimately doing nothing to weaken the King's position. If they didn't succeed, they would be setting themselves back.

"The other rebels may provide a distraction for us," she said, looking back around the group, "They're making plans, too. Meshach is coming back, that will put a lot of the King's attention and resources on him... so we're just back to needing a way in."

Well, she talked herself in a circle.

The surprise with which Tamaa looked at Iki was twofold. First, the realization that Nyeusi could actually be useful here. Even with the attacks on her, old habits of thinking of her as mildly useful at best (but mostly just loud and unnervingly insane) died hard. Second, the casual ease with which Iki suggested she be put in harm's way. Wasn't that her sister...? The potential death of guards didn't bother him so much. He didn't have a whole lot of pity for those that'd follow orders like the ones that had seen his friend dead. In fact...he firmly squashed irritation bubbling to the fore as he remembered that Nyeusi had had the chance to kill Chunyue as he'd killed Umepatwa, but had let it slip through her paws. If she could help, he could forgive that. Maybe.

"Do you think she'd agree to it?" he said finally, eyeing Iki. Nyeusi could be very loud, and that might mask the sounds of combat with Shangyue. If they could get the task done with none the wiser, they'd all have a better chance of getting out alive. "If not...Kimondo, you've talked to Yueyun more than I have. Do you think he'd help us get in, at least?"

Meshach's return would help, if nothing else would. He'd heard of the multiple hunting parties sent after the banished prince, and that was before his location was known. If word of his return got out, Shangyue would definitely redouble efforts to kill him. That had the potential to lead to all kinds of openings.

User Image Iki'renkli shrugged in response to Kimondo's suggestion that some deaths weren't necessary. Frankly, given how much blood had been shed already, the dark lioness didn't see how they'd complete this rebellion without killing more than just Shangyue. But it probably wasn't worth mentioning that.

"Sure," she told Tamaa. "She'd be happy to help bring Shangyue down, even if it's by distracting his guards." Nope, the Hunt Leader had no qualms whatsoever about promsing her oldest sister's services.

She might feel guilty if Meshach wanted Nyeusi to do something else. Might. But she didn't know him at all. Just that he wanted Shangyue dead which, news flash, half the pride wanted that.

While the group talked, a pair of wary lions approached them slowly. Behram was not well known as a grandson of Firaga, thank the Great Lion, but he still felt extremely out of place coming here.. it didn't help that even when he tried to remain neutral, his expression was grim and menacing.

The gathering was small.. much smaller than expected. He glanced to his companion, seeking his opinion.

Hivyo could feel Behram looking at him and he didn't like it. They had a job to do. He glanced over to the darker lion and then back to the crowd when directed. Not sure what he was getting at he shrugged.

"That's them," he said, "I guess we're not going to go unnoticed. Is that what you're worried about?"

"Are you not?" Behram shot back, frowning.

"We have nothing to worry abou--"

He rolled his eyes at the glare Behram gave him and sighed.

"Fine, you have reason to worry," he said, his voice lowering as they reached the edge of the crowd, "But you hardly look like your father or grandfather."

Behram grunted and said nothing more, looking around.

Kimondo's gaze rested on Iki as she volunteered her elder sister to cause a distraction. From her own experience working with Nyeusi, she didn't doubt the lioness would be happy to act as bait.. it was something more active than the job she had tried to give. For as non-violent as the flower plan had been.. Nyeusi had done a lot of murdering.

"Nyeusi would be a great help," she said, not noticing the new arrivals, "She has spent years getting their attention and has proven she should be taken seriously.."

If Meshach distracted the bulk of what remained of Shangyue's forces while Nyeusi badgered what remained.. maybe they wouldn't need to try so hard to sneak in.

The fact Meschach was returning should have phased her. Ahava knew it should have, but for some reason it wasn't. "I'm not so sure I want to place too many bets on the others distracting the guards well enough, even WITH Meschach back." She took a seat, frowning. "But distracting them with multiple sources is actually a good idea. It might be dangerous, but what about having lions go in one at a time, randomly, to get the attention of as many guards as possible to drag them away in a wild goose chase? The more lions distracting them, the better."

Her gaze passed over everybody, beore she gave a start. Two new lions had shown up, and one made her fold her ears back slightly. "Greetings, you two." Though she spoke to both, her eyes were on Behram. She'd seen markings much like his before, outside the ones that clearly spoke of their blood relation. To her, they were distinct, and them being blue didn't change the knowledge of where they traced to. But her stare and surprise had no angry. A touch of wariness, but much more hope.

Behram was looking around casually when Ahava suddenly greeted them, and he did a double-take when turning his attention to her. Yavin's daughter with the shaman. A first cousin under a more watchful eye than himself and his siblings.. she was a surprise to see here, but a pleasant one.

"Hey," he muttered.

Kimondo's gaze went from Iki'renkli to Ahava and then finally to Behram and Hivyo. She recognized both. Hivyo was a fellow member of the High Class, one who chose to become a Lord rather than contribute to the pride.. and the other was an unmistakable combination of royal blood and Firaga's line. Not of the high class, but of royalty in more than one way. She didn't know his name, though.

"What a pleasant surprise," she said brightly, putting on a smile and hoping against hope that their cause really was growing, that they had taken hold of the younger generation of Lords and Nobles.

"Hivyo," she greeted, glancing at Behram, "And, ah.."

"Behram," Hivyo answered with an easy smile, his tail swaying gently behind him, looking much more relaxed than his companion, "He's a friend of mine. Well, more of a friend of a friend.. but that's not the point, we're here to help."

He was saying too much, he could feel it as the words tumbled out of his mouth- but it was the truth. He only prayed his rescue would come sooner rather than later.

And yet, he kept going.

"The plan is to kill the king, right?" he said, "Umepatwa made his intentions clear when he was marching around stirring up trouble, his group hasn't change their goal, have they?"

Kimondo stared and then slowly nodded. Hivyo was chatty but confident. He'd missed the start of the conversation but he wasn't afraid to jump right in.

Behram was very nearly glaring at Hivyo as he blathered, but finally he rolled his eyes and looked out to the others. He met Ahava's gaze, then Tamaa's, and finally rested on Kimondo.

"Hivyo is a Lord from a smaller, more unknown family," he explained plainly, "I am the son of Fasrin, one of the few lions around here still trusted by the usurper king.. and we have Liuhe."

Kimondo locked eyes with Behram as he spoke. She made a face and opened her mouth to question him, but then her gaze moved behind them.

User Image

After much deliberation and covert planning and preparation, Liuhe had made several important decisions about what was going to happen in the future. He wanted to be a part of it, he and Yueyun had to prove that they and their siblings were not simply their father's children. He could have sent Behram and Hivyo with a message but he doubted that would be effective. Unlike his father, he would put himself into danger for the benefit of the pride. He had merely sent them ahead to make sure there was nobody to be rightly suspicious of there.

It was the first time he had seen Kimondo since the argument that ended their friendship.. unfortunately, now wasn't the time to apologize. He looked around at those present and swallowed his anxiety before looking back at Kimondo.

"Yueyun wanted to come but Mother knows he's a rebel," he said, "I don't know if I'd be able to kill Shangyue myself, but I can help you get to him."

So Nyeusi could be another distraction to add to Meshach's return, at least. If they could capitalize on that...turning it over in his mind, Tamaa didn't notice the new arrivals until Ahava greeted them. Startled, he focused on them. He recognized Behram's markings--one of the new recruits from the strike had similar--maybe they had convinced a sibling or cousin to their cause? Hivyo brought less recognition, though Tamaa remembered he was a fellow High class lion from one of the smaller families. He didn't recall names for either of them, much less possible allegiances...and after Chunyue's heel-turn, the gaze he watched them with as greetings were exchanged was sharp and wary.

Trying to force a welcoming grin, he began to step forward to confirm that yes, they did plan to kill the king, and no, they had not changed their goal, but then he froze as his gaze followed Kimondo's. Liuhe. The heir. Here. Telling them Yueyun was compromised--with the way Shangyue was striking down anyone even suspected of rebellion, it was a miracle he was still alive--and offering himself to their cause. It seemed too good to be true. Tamaa's smile, false or not, faded.

"How...and why?" And unspoken, why should we believe you?
