[Round 1] Ayianna vs O'ros

orz Oh man, I didn't see that the dueling system changed from what was in the sign-ups. That threw me off bad.

This wasn't O'ros' first Sky Ceremony. This wasn't her second one either. She knew the deal. She knew how things worked by now and she meant to make it passed the first round this time. The starry-pelted lioness made her way passed others and simply nodded to them in greeting as she moved towards the designated location for her and Ayianna's duel. Typically she would have been confident, headstrong as she came to a stop, but she wasn't. This was her third time doing this, or maybe it had been more and her memory was faltering.

Grief still gripped the huntress' heart as she nodded in greeting to her competitor.

There was a hiss that made its way through O'ros' clenched fangs as the paw hit her shoulder. No claws, of course, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt still. Rounding around, the starry lioness retaliated with her own strike-a hit-aimed right for her competition's thigh. There was no moment in her mind to think, only act. No chatter like she had done before either. They could talk, congratulate really, once they were done.

A miss. Inwardly O'ros found herself smiling but outwardly she was nothing but focused as to not squander the opportunity she was provided with. A dark purple paw came down on Ayianna's shoulder. Another hit, though gentler this time, and that brought her up to two.

O'ros frowned deeply as the clawless paw connected with her chest.. The sense of impending defeat again and then...her paw hit fur again, retaliating as it hit in an identical placement as the other lioness' had. That was three. Three hits and if she recalled, that meant she was the victor. As she bobbed back onto her paws, silver eyes watched warily. That was it, right?

"That was a good match," she finally said, speaking for the first time their entire duel, as a proud smile grew on her face.

"Thank you," she replied simply as a warm feeling had spread through O'ros' chest as the words of congratulations met her ears. Passed round one this year. But as she thought fondly on that fact, the reminder that there were indeed more rounds hit her. Hard. Her face steeled, but she nodded, acknowledging her win, their fair (and rather fun, if she did say so herself) duel and the others to come. For now though, she would rest until the announcement of the next round's competitors came. It wouldn't be long now and then it would be off to round two.
