Name:
Kellian
Age:
23
Sex:
Female
Sexual Orientation:
Heterosexual
Craft:
Smithcraft
Rank:
Journeyman
Location:
From Telgar, currently in Nabol on assignment
Physical Description:
Kellian has always been rather pretty. Her hair is long, brushing her shoulders in layered black waves, cut so she can still tie it back to keep it out of her face. Her eyes are warm, a sloping oval that turns up slightly at the corners, and sparkle a soft blue-lavender. Silver rings the pupil, and is only visible in one eye. Her left eye is completely blinded. A paler skin tone, it makes it all that much easier to see the scarring that marrs the entire left side of the Crafter's body. From her face, down her left side, one can see the remains of acid burns that took her sight and hearing in one ear, but surprisingly minor nerve damage to the body. Most of the damage was done to her face, and the hair has grown back, but the scars she has been left with are very disfiguring. Her form is lithe, with a toned stomach, and long limbs and nimble fingers.
Personality:
||Dedicated||
If nothing else can be said about the Smithcraft girl known as 'Kit' to her close friends and relatives, her heart and soul goes into everything she does. Dedicated to her work, Kellian will stop at nothing to ensure a job gets done. Her quality of work reflects that as well, showing a skill level earned over her 23 turns of life. Her hands are never idle, even at home, or after her accident, always working, even with the minor shakes and nerve damage she will not stop, though it's reduced her to simpler tasks. Her focus is solely on what she does best.

||Honest||
If nothing else, one of the best traits about Kellian, is that lying to another will often be a rare occurence. She's always been straightforwards with herself, and others, and really disllikes the very idea of going around someone's back. Sure, this means that she can get herself in a good bit of trouble, especially when blunt honesty goes to far. However, Kit believes that first and foremost, lying to people is wrong. Better to break it now, than to deal with the repercussions of sugar-coating later, which she believes to be much worse. Their reactions are their own. If they hate her for it, she understands. People have their own ways of dealing with the truth all the time.....she'll take what she's given. Kelli cares very deeply for people, and respects them too much to allow herself to keep things from them.

||Independent||
Kellian''s never been one to rely on others. Due to her history with her father, the young woman grew up quickly, depending on her own knowledge of people, and how they worked to keep her going. She's used to working on her own knowledge, relying on her own two hands to get the job done, to keep herself fed. This puts into light why she is so adamant about working at the head of projects, used to being able to input her own ideas directly into the center of things. After all, when you never had to deal with a parental figure telling you how to live your life, everything's kind of by your discretion.

||Blunt||
The worst part about Kit's honesty is that it goes VERY far. Beyond the realm of acceptable, and into the realm of brutal. Her honesty can be lined up as being far too direct, and leaves people wondering just why she was so willing to 'give it to them straight' to begin with! This directness can be a bit shocking, and the fact that she seems to give no regard to the abrasive nature of her speech is very annoying at times. If you ask the woman if you don't look good in something, before those little white lies, she'll likely just tell you "Yes."

||Distant||
Her independence seems to have come at a price however. Her interactions with people are solely based in her Craft. Outside of the people she works with, it's very rare for Kit to interact with anyone. She keeps to herself, quiet and observant, unless she sees need to tell someone what they're doing. She's not much of the sort to trust anyone with what she's thinking, or to allow them beyond the basic mask of 'this is how I work, and how we work together'.
History:
Kellian was born to a pair in Telgar hold, a happy man and his wife. They were a very close-knit family, and spent a lot of time together. Before the Threadfall, the young woman had taken to learning Smithcraft, starting as an apprentice. She'd been hard at work when the Thread fell. It was quick thinking that kept she and her father alive. However, her mother was not so lucky. The two hid together until the Threadfall had abated, and were quick to assist in rebuilding. This was when Kellian's troubles began. It was easy for her to step back into Smithcrafting...however, her father took the losses that had occurred rather hard. Instead of going back to his craft, Matteus became quick to drink.

The alcohol made him a very aggressive man, and a neglectful father, leaving the 16 turn old Kit to fend for herself. It was after she became a true apprentice in the Hall that she decided to find herself absorbed in the Smithing, not interested in going home to the man that her father had become. The two were essentially estranged, and her heart began to pour solely into the metals with which she worked. She had quite a mind for engineering as well, good with the numbers and caution required with the field. All good things must come to an end, though...and Kellian's good time ended with....quite the bang.

When she was 18 turns old, Kellian had stared on a project that required her to work with quite a few of the heavier chemicals. Despite her utmost caution, the girl's grip slipped during one of her experiments, and the acid splashed onto the left side of her body. She wasn't quick enough to get the acid off her face, or clothing. It quickly ate through the fabric, rending deep burns on the left side of her, and all but destroying a fair amount of the left side of her face. Luckily, someone had seen what had occurred and managed to get her to where they could wash the corrosive liquid from her quickly.

Almost an entire turn was spent with healers, ensuring that she wouldn't pass from her burns. She was fortunate. Most of the damage was done on her face, an eye blinded, one ear deafened, and more severe nerve damage to her facial muscles. Her arm and leg had sustained less damage, the sheer amount lessened by the clothing that had protected her for a period. It wasn't long after that when the young woman returned to Smithcraft. Her tasks are smaller now, and her left hand isn't quite what it used to be, but she still manages to get the tasks she's given done.
Other:
-Very good with Engineering
-Still rather good with her hands, even after the 'accident'.

Again, looking pretty good, except for the Threadfall bit. As with Shiloh, Thread fell in Echoes of Pern not quite a turn ago.

Quote:
3572.04.22 AL: Thread returns and catches all of Pern off guard. It devastates the planet, kills entire family lines, and destroys many Holds and Halls that weren't made with stone or metal.

3572.13.19 AL: Echoes of Pern begins.

That's what I wrote up in the Timeline thread, though I know that's also a little bare-bones and unfinished.

That said I feel like her father's alcoholism probably needs to stem from another tragedy, since Thead has only just returned. Otherwise looks pretty good!
