The pride had moved on from Shangyue's reign and Parisa lived a surprisingly quiet life, it was as if she didn't matter now and for the most part that was just fine. She still got the occasional suspicious look but the hostility was going away, slowly but surely. Having cubs to keep her busy had helped, and it was largely thanks to Liuhe that they were so well integrated into the pride. She was still bitter her children had been denied their birthright but they seemed better off for it, for now. Shangyue having no influence over their youngest litter helped, too.

Unfortunately, as life moved on, there was still one problem that Parisa had to deal with. She had no cubs to put first now, there was only her. And without cubs now, it was possible to have more now..

Considering how long Dwyllodrus had stuck around despite her obvious disinterest, she had to assume that was what he was really after. And it was time to deal with it, so she went looking for him. He was never terribly hard to find.

The dark male was usually found somewhere near Parisa, if only so that he could press his...case, as it were. While he'd been somewhat furious to find out that she was pregnant with and then mother to Shangyue's last children, the lion had instead bided his time. He'd always come by after a Hunt with the tastiest tidbits to offer Parisa, and more besides to feed the bottomless pits known as cubs' stomachs.

He might've offered to help out more with the kids themselves, but Liuhe seemed to distrust his older, half-brother for some unknown reason, and Dwyllodrus hadn't wanted to get on the bad side of someone the Queen held in high regard.

But now that they were older and out of the way...the field was finally clear.

And, as luck would have it, she was coming towards him now.

Silently, he glanced up at the lioness and smirked. He'd see what she wanted first.

While it was hard to deny that Dwyllodrus had been helpful, Parisa's patience for seeming grateful and welcoming wore thin fairly early. While her mood had changed significantly following Kimondo's coronation and her attitude had shifted to a more resolute tolerance of the male, they were still lacking closure. It was time to deal with that. The fact that he had been persistent but patient rather than frustrated and aggressive worked in his favor, but she knew better than to give him too much credit. He was Tyfu's son, after all.

"Good afternoon, Dwyllodrus," she said, finding him just as close as expected. It wasn't unheard of for her to be the one seeking him out but it was clear that this had a purpose this time. While she wasn't exactly embarrassed, it wasn't easy to just spit out what needed to be said.

She didn't say anything, but she did look him up and down. He didn't look too much like either of his parents and Parisa was grateful for that.

"And to you, my Lady," the lion replied, smirk still hovering about his lips. He wasn't so stupid as to call her Majesty the way he'd like to, reminding her of her former position. It would be fun, but it would also break the very thin ice he walked upon within the Mwezi'Johari, and Dwyllodrus wouldn't allow himself to be removed from the pride.

At least, not yet. The dark male thought he might one day choose to leave, but that day was some time off as of yet.

The other reason for his chosen form of address was the possessive it permitted him to use. For he did have a longstanding goal of years and maybe, just maybe, it would finally come to fruition.

Being sour wasn't going to get her anywhere so Parisa put on a smile when he called her Lady. He was one of few who seemed to take her rank seriously, just as he always had.. it almost certainly played into the fantasy that had brought them to this point and they both had to know it.

"We made a deal, and you upheld your half," she said, stepping closer to him and still smiling sweetly. She stopped a short distance from her, making her intention clear and giving them a little added privacy for conversation.. hopefully, it also gave her a bit of an edge in what she said next.

"Shall we negotiate the terms?"

It was undeniably late in the game to be imposing restrictions on the deal they made but in the moment when it had mattered, there hadn't been time for details. If he wanted to make his claim, if it was this close to being within his grasp, he would discuss it now. She was ready, finally.

Golden eyes widened slightly with pleasure. Parisa had been reluctant to encourage him, but still had been proven honest and even honorable with time, something he honestly was surprised by. Firaga and Shangyue were far from the...most desirable...role models. Still, he understood that some things would be deemed unacceptable and he would only depart the pride on his own terms.

"Now...what terms might those be?" Dwyllodrus asked lightly, though his eyes remained deadly serious. He had killed for the right to be here, and he wasn't about to let his opportunity go.

His eyes had a dangerous look in them, but she had one to match as she broached the first and most important topic their negotiations would cover. Becoming a mother had changed her, whether or not her children appreciated her-- and it was a mixed group on that front-- and it was something she treated the utmost seriousness.

"Cubs," she said, "They may happen whether or not you intend it. If you do, the end game is clear but the terms are complicated."

If he wasn't looking to sire cubs, determining how to consider her half of the bargain fulfilled would take some discussion but nothing quite so serious as assuring him that he may sire cubs but he may not get them. His ambition beyond their strange relationship was a mystery, that left too much room for trouble if they didn't discuss this now.

The smile returned to his face as Dwyllodrus considered the situation. There was no doubt that Parisa would be his, for at least some time. But cubs? That hadn't actually crossed his mind. However, now that she was clearly offering...

"But of course, I intend it," the dark male oozed. "What is more lasting and permanent that a joining of bloodlines?"

No one could deny his claim upon the lioness at that point, nor could she ever hope to forget it.

The look on his face said something very interesting about the idea of cubs, but that didn't matter because she wasn't going into this not knowing where they stood on this. Without a plan, if they had cubs she could no doubt have prevented his access to them simply because, on good terms or not, she had a larger family and support system. Despite everything, though, she was determined to be honorable and to uphold her end of the bargain.

One good thing to be said of his approval of the idea, at least, was that it set a clear finish line in their arrangement. Cubs would tie them together socially but other obligations to him would be done. It wasn't the ideal situation but she had gotten by in worse.

"Of course," she replied, still smiling, "But know this: I once told Shangyue if he put our family in danger, I would kill him myself. That's not quite how it played out but, you know what happened."

"You wound me," Dwyllodrus replied, though his expression and tone didn't actually change. "Have I not been a model pride member since we made our bargain?"

Admittedly, the lion had done little about his...sinister air...but that was because he didn't care to mingle all his time with the foolish masses. No one could say he hadn't done his job, pulled his weight, or otherwise done all that any pride could ask.

But no one could really say they liked him. Not that Dwyllodrus cared about such a little thing.

Parisa was probably smarter than most gave her credit for but she sincerely doubted Dwyllodrus was one of those lions. Still, just as she had to give her warning, she didn't doubt he had to offer his reminder. She didn't need to trust him, and he didn't need to trust her except on the one thing she was making a point of telling him now.

If they had cubs, she wouldn't be able to keep him away from them and there would be no protecting them from his deception until they were older or he slipped up. She would be ready for that.

"As long as we're clear."

"Clear as the raindrops that fall from the sky," Dwyllodrus replied, taking two slow, deliberate steps closer towards the lioness. Now his eyes showed his hunger, the desire he'd held close for years and would now be fulfilled.

Or at least begun. The male liked the idea of having cubs to raise as he pleased. Oh sure, Parisa had become gradually more invested in her children as time went on, but she was only one lioness, and couldn't possibly deny them the presence and teachings of their father.

Yes, he had plans to make for these future cubs. But for now...there were more important things on his mind.
